Alright so 2 days ago my friend sends me an e-mail that simply says: "Mermaid Gets *&^%." I ignored it as I don't watch porn videos (not my thing). Needless to say my friend wanted know if I had watched it and I told him no. So after listening to him and wanting him to shut up I watched this video and it turns out what I thought was just some odd ball porn turned out to be Henti (animated porn). In fact it was of 'The Little Mermaid.'

So also contained in this e-mail was a bunch of adds to a few sites such as: FF Henti, Ben 10 Henti, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh...and well you get the general idea.

And to be honest I actually got quite mad, mad enough to call his dumb @$$ a give him a piece of my mind for sending me such trash. Now yes I am a 26 year old guy so people find it odd I don't pay attention to regular porn, but I was simply raised to believe the a women is a person and not an object to be desired.

Now I'm not talking bad about those who watch Henti, but to watch something like a Disney cartoon Henti (which is not authorized by Disney) just gets me all riled up.

I mean look at it this way if you created a cartoon or video game and years later you found that someone created a Henti of it would it not piss you off in someway? Me being a writer it makes me mad to find that people would actually take a cartoon or video game geared toward kids/young teens and make some sick porn out of it.

I have no real issues regarding hentai, other than how frequently it occurs when I'm image searching. I mean, nobody is forcing you to look at it, and its fairly easy to spot links or whatever to it when they're sent to you. You can always close the page afterwards if you accidently click on a link. But then I've never been able to understand the fuss behind any sort of pornography anyway, be it animated or otherwise. No clothes. Woop dee doo. Its the natural state of things. I can't even understand hormone-crazed teenagers frothing at the mouth over it - its nothing particularly ground-breaking. Artists have been drawing people naked for lord knows how long, hentai and the like is just the modern equivalent of that sort of artwork. Don't like it? Don't look. Problem solved. Other people's vices are their own business, and unless they try to make it your business, there is no real issue. At least, that is how I see it.

I don't think porn objectifies woman any more than the Twilight movies objectify Robert Pattison and the other one. Or the same way that Megan Fox is shown on the posters for Transformers, at least there's an honesty to the former two.
Most people agree that people who watch too much porn tend to objectify women, however that's true of most things, over induligence has negative consequences.
Gay pornography must objectify men just as much as women, but far fewer people have a problem, I suspect because they just dislike porn and have come up with a justification for their dislike.

Ive seen some mad freaky hentai shit, but the Disney and kiddy ones freak me the fuck out. I guess its because Ive grown up with Mickey, Minnie, Little Mermaid, Bella, etc. So seeing them in any form of porn upsets me alittle as it was something from my childhood being used in that way.

I know some people do get off on stuff like that, but to me, its bleh and I feel uneasy. People can watch what they want, I wont judge them. I just couldnt watch anything like that. An ex sent me Flintstones porn once and I went mad at him as I dont want to see that.

Which I did not give him permission to do so simply means a lawsuit waiting to happen. And hell yes I would file it with out hesitation.

That's a fair point but it's not just hentai's problem. You can see similar stuff, even if it's faked in real porn with actual human beings. Rape and torture and whatever else have their own niche sites. Personally it doesn't particularly bother me, as I'm sure that the participants are well compensated, but it's certainly morally ambiguous.

That fanart violates copyright law is not true on a general basis. A lot of fanart will fall under the catergory of "parody" which is given a certain amount of protection under U.S. copyright law. If it is a derivative work, then it does violate copyright law, yes. However, to determine what fanart is derivative and what is not would need to be done on a case-by-cas basis, and this is neither practical nor possible, given the huge amount of fanart out there. You cannot generalise, saying "all hentai is illegal" because it is NOT, and just because Disney chose to make an example out of a couple of people does not mean everyone else who does similar things is exactly the same. Perhaps YOU should read up on copyright laws before you start calling people retarded, hmm?

There is far more controversy over the status of fanfiction than there is over fanart, in any event. Its also worth noting that US copyright law isn't the only copyright law out there, either. The rule of the US is not absolute. Someone who imitates (whether it be a parody or derivative) a Japanese piece of work is probably not going to be subjected to US copyright laws.

I think you're also ignoring the fact that there is hentai anime and manga in Japan that is produced legally by professionals.

Do you know of the concept of fair use? I'm guessing not, so I encourage you to look it up. One of the tenets is whether a derivative work would affect the potential value of or market for the copyrighted work. It would stand to reason that if one is sexually attracted to Tifa, one is more likely to purchase FF7 or FF7-related materials. Thus, it would be against SE's best interests to claim copyright infringement.

Avoiding answering the question I see, there's no guarantee that they'd know. There's been several cases of politicians not asking permission to use people's songs.

That said, I don't think that drawing sexual images is parody. Parody is to make fun of something, hentai is sexual not funny. Of course, to each his own, but there are limits to that. @Fusionist: Hun, I know what you mean and as was mentioned its not just in hentai. There are the "snuff" films that go round with women being mutilated and such. I don't know if anyone else is like this, but I'll be honest in order to perhaps shed some light on the subject. When I'm normal (not sexually aroused, perhaps sitting in my room playing a video game or shopping at the mall or something) I abhor hentai and the way that they treat women in them. I hate rape, I can't stand fetishes, and seeing Tifa or Snow White naked literally makes me vomit. However, when I'm aroused, I'm a completely different person. Things that otherwise would be disgusting to me are turn-ons. The way they treat women and a lot of the fetishes don't seem so bad whenever you're sexually aroused. What's bad is that after I return to normal I'm disgusted with myself. So I see where you're coming from, but at the same time I can relate to the people who like hentai. To be honest, though, I wish I'd never seen any of it. Innocence is a precious thing.
