Kefka's look...

But, as a few of us has stated, they completely changed his face. I'm sorry to anyone who doesn't agree, but Kefka wasn't suppose to look like a strong chinned man or The Joker!
He was meant to be a thin man - almost sick looking - with a light coating of purple (red?) over his THIN lips with a pointy chin and nose. Also, Kefka would never slap his but at people, its just redundant.
Sure he was a goofy, sadistic, crazy mother fcker, but nothing to these extremities.
I, a very loyal and true FFVI fan, would have to disagree with you, because Kefka was represented as a thin man, nothing too strong in build or too goofy.
The changed my villain lover (yeah, Kefka is my lover! :P)

I'm fully aware, hence;
You take the original art concept of any character and place it in Dissidia and it's going to look like shite--they're designed for that particular style of game and its design, take an original design and stick it in Dissidia it'll look dire and take a Dissidia design and put it in the original FF games they come from and that'll look crap as well.
:monster:

That doesn't necessarily mean you warp their faces that much, Hope Estheim.
Judging my your avatar, I'll say you (I said say) you are deeply, madly in love with Sora's design and facial structure and everything.

One day, someone buys Kingdom Hearts and its characters. That said person makes Sora look like...hm, umm, let's say a pile of shite. What would you say, as a die hard KH fan or anyone would reletivly see the difference between the first Sora and the Shite Sora?
You'd see the difference, wether or not you admit it is a different matter.

To us FFVI fans, we can clearly see the change poor Kefka has went through. He looks - as L had said - like a generic transvestite hooker you'd find in GTA that put on too much makeup or some shit.

No, I can just see past the actual design and to why they've done it, which you are really not grasping at all. You're making some assumption out of nowhere that I'm saying Nomura's version looks better than the original which I even stated that, quote-unquote "I wasn't a big fan of the changes". I said the design had to change to suit the game because the original design of Kefka would NOT fit it with the design style Dissidia has.

On, no, no! I didn't mean to sound like I was assuming anything. I'm sorry, Hope Estheim. I was just trying to show you how we die hard (ready to kill) FFVI fans saw in it. I wasn't trying to assume you prefer or liked Normua more than Amano, I actually never had that thought.

I was trying to show and tell you why we thought it was completely changed. They didn't change Cloud, Sephy and a few others so dramastically they didn't look the same. I was just trying to prove my point.

Uh, my friends did tell me that when I debate FFVI I get rabid. I'm so sorry, Hope Estheim. I really am.

That's because their designs were easy to translate into Dissidia because they were already used to being 3d models, and also because Nomura designed them. For the earlier games Nomura had to look at Amano's designs and in order to make them all fit together he had to "update" them in his style.

I agree that this means that Kefka doesn't look as good with the large clown lips, and the shading ruins his jaw shape, and I'm not too much of a fan of just how over-the-top they made him. He is meant to be over-the-top but he's meant to be less of a clown about it. The Dissidia redesign is leading more and more people into the false conclusion that he is just a "stupid clown" and nothing more.

However I do also agree with what Ryan / Hope is saying. Nomura did the redesigns, and he felt the need to update it to fit in with the rest of the Dissidia artwork and also with the look of the game. He'd probably have struggled to do the curvy nose that Amano did, and he felt it was easier to shade Kefkas chin. The lips are a complete mistake on Nomura's part and make him look hideous, but I guess we just have to accept that this is the way it will be. I'm still going to enjoy having Kekfa in the game.

My main dissapointment is that the other version of Kefka isn't his alternate costume.

Well, I know that he had to change them in order to fit the models of Dissida. But I seriously seem him as a different looking villain than before. He updated him way too much.

Yes, over the top maybe. But they made him way too goofy and too clown like. He was meant to be a mix of a clown/jester and an mid-evil kind of jester that cut his mouth wider and gave the king entertainment. I forget the word, but it starts with a "P". Normua purposely made him look like The Joker.

He probably did struggle with the Amano made his nose and the rest of him. To me and a few of my friends agreed with me that he probably didn't even try all that hard to make em look sorta the same. I guess I'll deal with it, but I can't because I don't own Dissidia. So, I guess I really have to deal with it.

It's okay, it was a simple misunderstanding, these things happen on forums, it depends how people interpret things and I just interpreted your post wrong. There's nothing to be sorry for :)

:P
I meant nothing by it. I should word my posts better so I won't cause problems again.

On topic: I still think that Kefka's new design went over board.

To put it simple-
Amano & Nomura have different styles or drawing. If either of us were asked to draw Kefka, we would all have our own versions of how he would look- nose, chin, hair line, etc.
However- What Noruma did to Kefka's make up is no excuse. Kefka's clown-like behavior is no excuse. That was a Square Enix fuck up.

FF6 is my most favorite game. And Kefka is the most bad ass villain ever (except Carnage :P) I was disappointed to see how Kefka acted in this game compaired to FF6.
Kefka was mad and insanely happy. He had a joking manner, but quickly switched to a harsh and threatening personality. Almost like being bipolar (lol). Where as in Dissidia, he really is just a clown. He still has his bipolar moments, but I really can't stand the prancing, jumping around, and the fucking homo twirls, spins, and body language he used in Dissidia. They really did make him a gay clown.
But in the end- he is still a Bishonen xD

I'm not really a Kefka fan, but I do generally believe in staying "classic" with the looks. At least as much as possible, sooner or later somebody is gonna change something. If for no other reason, just to show off new graphic capabilities on new consoles. Even though I normally like older looks, I thought he looked cool in FFD, especially in his EX mode.

Kefka in Dissidia= Asome!

I think Dissidia did a wonderful job with Kefka. Of couse it dose not look like the original sprite and Movies from Athology but I think the change is for the better. :)

In-game Kefka does not look so horrible... But the Artwork and that Joker Lipstick crap is so retarded. <_<
