I looked for a thread on Lost, and all I could find was one for Season 3 or 4... Which is a bit irrelevant now as we're now on Season 5.

Anyway, who else watches Lost?

Who are your favourite characters?

Have you any theories on what may be going on?

Post them here!

I love Lost, it is my favourite thing on TV at the moment.
I think it is a lot more consistent than most programs at the moment, and character changes are done gradually and you feel them happen, rather than rash on the spot bad writing.

I like the characters, the atmosphere, the thought behind it. What appear to be crazy decisions all end up meaning something on this program, which is what I like about it... Even things from Season 1 have relevance now in Season 5.... Which makes it so that you really have GOT to watch every episode to get the full thing.

Discuss.

This show is awesome but however I only watched some episodes. They were good and Evangeline Lily is justso beautiful ummm is that her name? The sex is just so hot.

Lost is definitely my favourite show on t.v and has been for the last few seasons. If you miss an episode of lost, you have missed a lot just from that. I've watched every episode of lost and im still lost on some things that are happening.

My favourite character was Locke
who died D: but i think that they will revive him somehow...
I also love Eko from the 4th season i believe
Where he died too... stupid monster in the jungle killed him. At least he had an epic death
.

Lost is definitely one of the most interesting shows i've watched. Its always got me on the edge of my seat wondering whats going to happen next. I think i'll probably by all the seasons of lost once i get my job again in the summer.

So now about the more recent episodes.. I missed last weeks episode which i cant watch till this wednesday coming up so bare with me
I just found out locke was killed because he did it to save the others. Now what do you think this whole jacob thing was... And why is Jacks dad on the island with Jacob.. Do you think that all the characters will end up back on the island? Because if they don't everyone left on it will die.. but will that really stop it?

Thats true. With Lost everything is important.. The only thing I don't think was that important was
Nikki and Paulo's death in Season 3
. What seems confusing, random and completely bizzare will mean something within a few episodes, or perhaps even the next season.

Eko
died
in Season 3, and he rocked :D. Locke may have the same thing happen to him that happened to
Christian Shepherd, Jacks father, in that the coffin may empty and Locke may become a spirit of sorts, perhaps.

You must watch it. If you live in America, then that episode you mean was on last night for me, and answers some of your questions there.

I'm not sure what will happen. I believe they are pawns in the big
"Hunt the island" game between Ben and Widmore. People are using different people to gain dominion over the island.

About Jacks dad he appears to be
Jacob's representive at the moment, speaking for him etc. He's probably been to the island before. He seems to act as the spirit of the island at the moment, coming to people just before death (i.e Michael).
.

I don't know who to pick for my favourite characters...
Locke is awesome - I liked his stories he'd pull into things to compare to events the islanders have to face.
Sawyer - comes up with badass nicknames and is the funniest character.
Hurley - is also pretty funny - theres something about him that is awesome. He's crazy, and really doesn't have any luck;
his chicken shack destroyed by meteor, house burning down, casually being stood there with a gun in his hand just after Sayid threw a man over the balcony and then people taking photos of him before he realises what it looks like
:D.

They'll be my top 3 I guess.
But characters is one of Losts strong points. They have brilliant ways of introducing their history via flashbacks that say something not only about the character but about the story in that particular episode. It's awesome.

Unfortunately I do not have time to read the post right now nor make a long post of my own.

I just want to point out that this weeks episode is the main episode that I have been anticipating for nine months. I have no doubts what so ever, that it will not only be the best Lost episode but my favorite episode of any T.V show ever. I get more psyched by the day.

Though Lost drives me mad at times, and it feels like a flawed show at heart, I still love it and have been watching Series 5 so far with great interest. I like all the time skips stuff on the island, and the last episode posed a few questions:

How did they get Sayid and Hurley on the plane? What happened to Ben to get him so roughed up? What happened to Aaron? And how much of a mug is Jack to sleep with Kate when she's just going to dump his arse for Sawyer as soon as they find him?

I liked all the little touches they made to try and reflect the conditions of the original flight - Charlie's guitar, Sayid being escorted by a marshal, Hurley reading a comic etc. Someone has even suggested that maybe Kate was told to sleep with Jack and get herself pregnant, like Claire had been. That one might be stretching it though!

Next week's one about Locke, looking forward to it.

Favourite character? Has to be Sawyer with all his nicknames and smartarse remarks. Hurley is very funny too.

Lost is one of my favorite shows, I would even argue it to be one of the greatest / smartest shows made.

Locke is by far and away my favorite character of the show, long before he became popular...mostly just his first image from the first episode. Now after many seasons he has become one of my favorite T.V characters of all time.
Thus...I LOVED last weeks episode.

Jack is my least favorite character of the show. I have never been a follower and I simply cannot see him as a leader or imagine myself 'looking up' to him if I were in the same situation.

A few weeks ago Ben spoke with his Lawyer about getting Hurly out of Jail. So we know that is how he got out. I am assuming Widmore had some more influence on others getting back. I would like to see that Kate is spying for Widmore as well.

We have to see or learn more about Aaron. After all, throughout season 1 and season 2 they constantly threw in our face and stressed the 'importance' of Aaron and that Claire NOT let anybody else raise him. And now Kate is raising him... which brings up another point I will mention later.

They had many small things, such as Jack was addicted to Oxy which is synthetic Heroin. Such as Charlie being addicted to Heroin. Which also made me angry at times because I was once addicted to Oxy and Jack has been to calm since Ben flushed his. I've known people that killed themselves from Oxy withdrawal.

I would like to bring up a few small things. Many of you that have watched the whole series by now must know that the show borrows a lot from the Bible. A few things to note is the fact that in the bible Jacob is the great great grandfather of Aaron...hmmm... Or that Jacob also had a twin brother, and depending on which version you've read, Jacob and his brother were like good and evil. Each of which founded their own nation and fought. Two island sections...

Also, regarding Christian Shepard, I think that he is evil. My comment of Aaron is what first made me think of this. After all of that importance of Claire supposed to be raising the baby, Christain told her to get rid of it. Which defied what she was 'supposed' to do. Also, remember the only words we've heard Jacob say were "Help Me". Then we ever see him again. The next time Locke goes to the cabin Jacob just happens to be gone and Christian is in his place. I think Christian is maniuplating Locke to do his dirty work.

Last weeks episode made me believe my theory even more with the talk of a "war" coming. Good vs evil? Jacob vs Christian?

That's pretty much how I am with this. I like Locke as soon as he started out. His whole attitude to life on the island and how he fits the wise older man archetype. I have a friend who looks a bit like Locke, but older, and he has taught me a lot and acts rather like Locke as well. But anyway Locke is a brilliant character, and out of the two "leader" characters from the Losties (Jack and Locke) Locke is the one I would go with.
It boils down to what Locke said actually.. Are you a man of science, or a man of faith. I'd go with faith when living on an island as messed up as that. While there is a lot of science behind the island as well faith seems to be guiding it.

I guess you can put this out to the wider picture... Dharma being the science, and Jacob and the others being the faith. There appears to be a constant battle between faith and science which is referenced throughout the whole series. Perhaps Widmore is the science as well, perhaps even being behind Dharma, and now the faith (Others) have to be careful that Widmore doesn't find the island again. But that might be applying it to too much there.

I don't hate the character Jack, but he is not my favourite. He does his purpose in the show, acting as the hero doctor who disbelieves all miracles, despite miracles happening in front of his own eyes. This could all be set to change now though, and already we have seen him change and now adopting Lockes point of view on the matter.

Claires
vanishing and appearing in the cabin was a shocker
, and I am anxious to find out what has happened to her. Perhaps there is something in the
Shepherd family connected to the island in that Christian is going to gather Jack as well so that they can all fulfil a joint purpose.
As for Aaron, I wonder if he was
on the new plane with the other people, only that he was put in the back with the other passengers and Kate didn't know. Perhaps even Walt was on there. We can't know for sure who was on that plane, the most unexpected yet expected (if that makes sense) of people all happened to turn up (Lapidus for example).

That is an interesting theory I haven't heard before. I always took his word for it that he was working FOR Jacob, and never thought that he might be fibbing. I guess we'll have to wait and see soon in the future.

On Christian though it is very possible that he had been to the island before at some time, and had a prominent role in it. He must have left at some point, and commited the same
"die to be initiated back into the island"
method that Locke was told to use. Perhaps it is more than just returning to the island,
which Locke could have done by getting the plane which everyone else took,
but a sort of initiation into the cult of the island, so to speak. Like perhaps Locke was killing his old self, and waking up a new man ready to lead the island with/instead of Christian who had undergone the same ritual in order to be accepted as a spiritual presence on the island. Just a thought.

I'm personally not sure which side is good or evil anymore. Widmore and Ben are both great manipulators, and Christian, as you theorise, may be an evil force preventing Jacob, OR he could be working in unity with Jacob. Perhaps the Losties are the only true hope for the islands survival afterall, needing to protect it from many sides.

This should be pretty interesting..
Kate, Jack, Hurley, and some others are all back on the island!
It's crazy how there all in the
Darma team
now. And wow i thought Sayid was going to
die
since he told sawyer to leave him be and everything about fate.. Man i wonder what will happen with Ben since little Ben was
killed
. Will Ben like disappear now? I was so upset when Sayid did that.. I can't believe he would do that..

I have watched every single episode since day one, and consider myself a die hard Lost fan. John Locke is my favorite character. OH DON'T DIE YET OMGAWD :ohshit: And Sun is super sexy <3 I'd tap that. Other than that, I can't stand Jack. -.- Arrogant piece of shit :gasp:

I think last Sunday's episode (in the UK) was absolutely fantastic!
I think the
judgement of
Ben scene by the
monster
was one of the most well made scenes in all of Lost. I loved how it
came out from underneath a depiction of
Anubis and then
surrounded Ben, giving him flashes of the history with his daughter a
nd then just slowly
went back in again.
I really love that scene. Really dramatic and quite emotional. You actually begin to feel for Ben a bit.

I must say, I really like where Lost has gone this season with the whole
back in 77 thing.
Season four didn't really sit too well with me, so it is good to see it back on track this season. I love how everyone has
joined the Dharma Initiative and it is good to learn a little more about the history between the Dharma Initiative and the others.
I think season five got off to a pretty slow start, but I really like where it is right now. I would like to see more of the original cast come back though.

I want to know what happened to Bernard and Rose and the other survivors. Yes they are less interesting characters but they just vanished... I think Bernard and Rose at least deserve an explaination.

I'd like to think Bernard and Rose are the "Adam and Eve" bodies they find in the cave from season 1. They had black and white pebbles in their hands.

Yeah I've read the theories about that. I'd say it is possible that they are Adam and Eve but they'd have to acquire the black and white pebbles somehow and then die in the cave probably during the Dharma time or a bit later.

I still want to know what happened to them.

Oh and I'm really loving all the recent Egypt references! :D

I do like the whole idea that Richard
is so old that he's from Ancient Egypt
.

Damn Lost taking another week's break after tomorrow's episode in the UK :(

Ohai fellow LOST fans. :monster:

I only started watching the show regularly with Season Four (I had to quickly catch up to the action with DVDs), and I've enjoyed the show quite a bit. It poses a lot of questions, I'll admit, but it's a great topic for discussion if you watch it with friends. It kind of reminds of how the Matrix was...everybody had their own ideas and theories about what was going on. :awesome:

Anyway, onto the nitty-gritty of recent happenings:

I've really been please with Season Five and how they've answered a lot of questions. They've
shed A LOT of light on the Dharma Initiative, almost fully explained the tension between Charles Widmore and Ben, told the stories of everyone before they returned to the island, explained Locke's death
...the list goes on. It seems that the show is finally reaching that place where it answers more questions than it asks, which is a good thing. :wacky:

As far as the most recent episode goes, I'm really glad they took an episode to talk about
Miles
. We finally get a little insight into his character and how
he got wrapped up in the island expedition, find out HIS relationship to the island (i.e his father is the head of the Dharma team)...and Faraday has returned!
I've heard that next episode is going to be a HUGE reveal where
Faraday tells all about the crazy time stuff with the island
...but we'll have to wait and see. :gasp:

It's annoying that we have to wait 2 weeks now in the UK.... Has anyone got any idea why this is?

Anyway it was a great episode again tonight. I'm begining to see Hurley and Miles being great together for humour. Then again anyone who hangs out with Hurley gets pulled into laughyness.

Its crazy how that guy can read the thoughts of dead people.. well take the information left in the brain.. I was glad to see an episode based on
Miles
. I was amazed to see that the main guy at darma is
Miles's
father.

I'm really excited to see the next two episodes... the 100th episode looks like its going to be an action filled one, even more then the recent ones. Should be really cool, cant wait to see how the sides will be split up!

It's not on in the USA this week, no idea why, maybe because the next episode is the 100th one?

Anyway, Hurley
writing The Empire Strikes Back
was hilarious.

And it seems like everyone on Lost has father issues!
