Anime Why videogames from Japan are realesed in NA a long time after their Japanese release?

The main reson is that translation can take a while. They have to manualy go and translate every text and since games tend to have alot of text it could take a while. Plus I think they get off on making us wait.

It's mainly due to translation issues I think, I mean, consider the difference between Japanese and American/English etc.
One sentence in English could become a few lines in Japanese and vice versa, also as GameGeeks said they have to do it all manually.
Therefore, taking a long time. xD

Just feel lucky you don't live in Europe, OP. We usually have to wait twice the wait you lot do.

Hey, you're lucky! At least all you have to wait for is translation. In australia, we get everything last:sad2:

^^I thought we generally got stuff at the same time as Europe

Anyway, my guess is that the main reason for the wait is the translation process, which (as stated above) can take a long time. Plus the fact that the publishers have to re-publish the game for western audiences and make it compatible with NA and PAL systems could very well contribute to the wait we all have to endure. :wacky:

Whilst I'm pretty sure translation has a lot to do with it, as Batman said, we live in Europe and have the same voice actors, yet, it's released around 5/6 months after NA so isn't it something to do with localization and having to change it from NTSC to PAL etc? D8

A bit more effort in your posts, please, guys. :)

Translation obviously plays a factor in the delays but I'm guessing that sending the games through the video game standards agencies and such like wouldn't help, either. They've got to monitor all content and make sure it complies with national standards (e.g. the scene in KH2 where Jack is stabbed by Barbossa is omitted from other versions due to compliance and rating issues). So, on top of translating the game, having voice actors come in, learn the script, perform it, check it, re-do it if necessary, I suppose the length of time it takes is understandable.

Yes, I guess that happens next after the translation but if you have a PAL Play Station 3 you can get a disc made by Code Junkies who are the company which makes the Action Replay (cheat system) that allows you to play NTSC format games. :D

I had it for my Game Cube because I bought a lot of the games from Japan. :P

But I don't know if there is one for the PS3, there should be somewhere...
