Vaan or Reks?

A lot of people were annoyed and upset by Vaan, but the only part I didn't like was that he was considered the main character. Otherwise, I adore his personality. I can't really say that I prefer Reks' personality because we see so little of it. That however, makes me more intrigued. I think it would've been great if Reks hadn't died, so that the main character could have more relation to the plot-line instead of Vaan who seemed to tag along just for the hell of it. Maybe they could have had him die later, in front of Vaans eyes, and spurred some more hatred up in Vaan along with some drama.

They could've created a much sadder scene! Instead of showing Rassler and Reks die all in the span of what, the first ten minutes of the game?

I think it would have been more interesting to have Reks as the main character - he would have had a sense of responsibility, cause he'd have to look after Vaan, and he could have had some interesting psychological issues if he survived the war. I think he would have been a more mature character than Vaan anyway, and far more interesting.

Vaan is just too emo and whiney imo plus his character design really sucks as does his horrible voice too. XP

I definitely think it would have been cool to have learned more and played more as Reks over Vaan. Vaan was far to weak and too much of a child to be suitable for the main character. I would have been cool to see Reks as the main character, seeing as he was a little older and most likely more mature. Though i despise Vaan, since i know so little about Reks (he could be just like Vaan or worse) i'll have to vote with Vaan.

No, Vaan is not too whiny and emo. Why people keep coming up with that I don't know. So he got angry about the death of his brother. Was he like it every 5 minutes? Was he constantly whiney?

I'm happy with Vaan. I got used to him, to me he was important in the party, and it would feel very weird Reks coming into the party as a main character.

A bit more effort, next time, please. You could elaborate on why you don't like Vaan, why you think Reks is cooler, et cetera. Thanks.

I would've preferred Reks, he doesn't look like a cross dresser in the cut scenes while Vaan looks like he's wearing too much mascara and to top it off, I'll agree with dark paladin on Vayne Solidor's post.

I dont know. it would've been good to play as reks for a bit longer just to get more used to him. but I honestly prefer vaan. I agree that he's not strong enough to be the main character but thats just me.

Vaan was a great lead character, but the way he was introduced into the game didn't make much sence. Reks role could have been that he was a resistance member trying to destroy the empire that he hated, and at the end he would become King along with Ashe as the queen. PERFECT!!!! Vaan could be a side character that just found out what his brother was doing and joined forces with him.

I like Vaan and all, but I wanted to play as Reks for a *bit* longer. </3 I felt that the beginning was like, "OH HAY LOL HERE'S A COOL CHARACTER TO PLAY AS FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES." Reks played his role very well. However, I felt that maybe a little more time to play as Reks would have been fun, since he seemed pretty cool to me.

And as for Reks being the main character, I would be cool with that, too. I mean, I prefer Vaan since I've played as him for longer, but I'm not totally against the idea of Reks being a main character. The idea that people have mentioned about Reks looking after Vaan actaully sounds ... well, pretty cute to me. <3

I really feel as though Reks should get his own spin off game, as he is one of those a-la-Zack characters in the FF series that we are introduced to, but never really quite get to meet. I always thought that Reks was sort of a plot hole in the game that was never really expanded upon, but should have been. It would be hard to make a game about him seeing as he dies at a fairly young age, but it seems as though it could be done as there are so many events, such as the destruction of Nabudis, that we are left fairly in the dark about and could be explored through a prequel.
