We're going to be removing the shoutbox, since it's clearly hogging up all the bandwidth. I know you guys enjoyed it while it was there, but in the end, we think it might also increase forum activity.

Yeh ive seen other forums do the same things. I think its a good idea since the forums havent been active alot lately.
 
I'm sad to see it go, but I do understand why the decision was taken. I'll never forget the great and random chats I've had in there with others. Does this mean that we may actually get a chatroom?

My my..to have a successful forum, you do NOT need an RPG system, or a shoutbox. 50 posts rule? We have told you time and time again why it is needed. It is a reasonable level..and if people showed true dedication to the site, they wouldn't just join for the RPG. There is plenty still going, maybe you should take a look around. This site remains it's main purpose - to bring people all over the world to discuss FF.

I offered to setup a channel and help people with it, but it was shutdown due to the fact there was going to be an addition to chatrooms. So, meh.

Sad to see it go but i guess i'll just spend 2 minutse going to links to do what i can do i 5 seconds or so..
 
no more shout box? thats unfair...(spaceballs) i post a lot but it gets boring. especially without smiles =/ what will be taken away next, pms? allthough i really hope DB does some chat rooms.
 
I'm actually glad to see it go. I mean in a way it sucks because the everday chats were fun, but I've also noticed a significantly high decrease in forum activity when it comes to the shoutbox. I know we're supposed to be getting a chat system sometime, but I don't know when. I think this is for the better if we want to see an increase in forum activity.
 
What Lisa said is absolutely true. You don't really need to have a shoutbox or an RPG system to get a forum even more successful than it is now. Many of you know by now how much trouble we've had with the shoutbox in the past on the old FFF. I thought it was going to work just fine on the new server but it seems that it won't and will never happen which is why it's consuming a lot of freaking resources and bandwidth. So far, we have used over 50GB of bandwidth just because of the stupid shoutbox. I know because I have checked myself and so did the host. This is the main reason why the shoutbox keeps coming back and then goes away. I can't really blame the RPG either 'cause I have already contacted the author of the RPG tonight and he said it has nothing to do with it.

Like I've said, just wait for the chat room as it'll be much better than the shoutbox. It's worth the wait so trust me guys. I don't know the exact date when the chat room will be available on the forums but I've to say around 2-3 weeks, hopefully. I'll keep you updated so in the meantime, try to be more active around the forums.
 
I hope you will use flashchat, I know that works pretty good and you can add lots of different rooms too. Shoutboxes are ok, but they are bandwidth hogs.

It shouldn't be too painful to wait a while for a chatroom.

Or you can always use PM, or if DB has it installed, VBpager.
 
I will miss the shoutbox. I find it hard making friends on forums, and the shoutbox helped me to make some... But it's your decision. X3
