*hey there final fantasy buddies, just thought id start a thread about me starting a new game in FF-6 ;), i have played the game before but that was a long tie ago and i never got to finish it cause my file got deleted, yeah that sucks, anyways im asking for any advice, tips, tricks for the game. anything so i wouldn't miss any secret weapons or secret dungeons from beginning to end:P

*hoping for your full cooperation :ohshit: weeeeeee PARTYYYY ON!!!! :highfive:

Well when you are at the returners' hideout, be sure to say 'no' when Banon asks you to join him. Then speak to him and say 'no' again then finally say 'no' a third time and you will receive the 'Genji Glove' which really helps early in the game.

When you go to Figaro castle, have Edgar first in the order of characters, so that he is the one that you walk round with. Then prices are 50% in Figaro castle

When Shadow first joins your party there is a small chance that he'll leave the party after every battle, so it's a good idea to run away from random encounters. Later, at the end of the floating island bit, there is a countdown timer. Before jumping back to the airship, you have to wait until the timer shows five seconds left, in order to get Shadow back - otherwise he dies!

Idk if the game boy version is different, but i have FFVI for psI and i really like that version. I just started to replay it too, and i'm not very far but it's already going to be great!

It allows you to equip two weapons (one in each hand) so you can technically attack twice. You can get it later on but it really helps early in the game.

I believe there is an extra dungeon and also some extra bosses...?

You're lucky, I played mine on the PS and it was HORRIBLE

Umm....not sure I can give you any hints because I was poooor at this game. But once you get to Zozo, there is a room with a clock that you have to get the time right on so you can get chainsaw(?) for Edgar.....

There are dudes loitering about town that give you hints...but they all lie xD

The time is
6:10:50
incase you can't be bothered to work it out yourself, I know I couldn't :wacky:

Often Missed Minor Scenes: 1) Once Sabin joins your party, go back to South Figaro & talk to his teacher's wife (in the bottom right house). 2) When Terra leaves your party bring Edgar & Sabin to Figaro Castle & sleep there. 3) After that, bring Celes & Locke (you can go back to Narshe to switch party members if you want to pick up Shadow along the way) to Kohlingen and visit Rachel's house & then Rachel in the basement of the crazy herb guy's house (Celes' involvement in the scenes aren't much, but w/e). 4) When you decide who to take after you find Terra, take Edgar & Sabin for an extra bit of info regarding their previous scene in Figaro once Celes leaves her fate to a coin toss as well. 5) When your airship crashes & you've visited Vector & agreed to help out, head back to your airship's engine room for a neat lil scene between Setzer, Cid, Terra & Locke...

*hey thats a good tip :) but ummm will it only unlock scenes? no cool weapons, magic or items?

I'm pretty sure it's just scenes, and the chainsaw3 is worth getting its not a weapon, its one of thoise skill things he has. It's easily his best for hitting single targets, don't miss out on it

Although be warned, Zozo is a town with enemy encounters in it and its awful -__-

Yeah, they're just scenes, really...1 is VERY minor info about Sabin's teacher...2 is pretty big development for the Figaro brothers (I wonder if someone's made a SMB hack with them?) detailing Sabin's leaving Figaro...3 is VERY VERY minor for Celes, but big development for Locke's backstory...4, like I said, details more about when Sabin left (I think it's a very neat lil not miss scene, besides, why NOT use Sabin & Edgar through those two parts? They rule...literally & figuratively!)...5 is a nice bit of development for Setzer...

But, yeah, the Chainsaw is Edgar's best single targeting Tool that also has a possibility for instant death (so avoid using it against undead enemies)...well worth going through Zozo to get, even if you do it the hard way & figure out the time by talking to everyone! It makes him as good (if not better) than his brother.

*wow thanks for the detailed info man :) anymore tips and trips along the way? how bout best places to level up? monsters to avoid? secrets?

Well, with the GBA version you said you're playing, I'd suggest taking advantage of the Beastiary every now & then in order to find out if there's anything good you can pilfer from monsters...Also, you probably already got them, but if you skip the treasure chests in the mines of Narshe, they'll power up later on, most notably one of the swords...This happens elsewhere, I guess...but I'm not exactly sure what places power up...*shrugs*

Best places to level up. When you get near to the end of the game, I think the best place to get magic ability points is the desert just south of Maranda. The sandworms give five points and the cactuars give ten, if I remember correctly. And the best place for regular experience, I think, is the smallish forest that is just to the east of the little house with the demented man in it (on the northern continent), which has tyrannosaurs (as well as brontosaurs, which are best avoided). But this won't make sense until you are in the latter stage of the game.

They're called Brachiodors actually - not Brontosaurs. They have a low encounter rate, and they're just very powerful, so best to avoid them at first.

Unless someone already has, I could give you a tip on how to defeat the Phantom Train in one move when you reach the area, but I don't know how fair that is really.

What say you guys.
Fair tip?
Or let him fight?

You could put it in a spoiler tag so that people can only look at it if they want/need to.
Like this.
I don't think I had any problems with the phantom train personally. I think there's a save point right before it, so it's not too annoying.
