Angry rants galore

There is another side to every story, there was a security guard a countdown that made me empty my pockets everytime i went there. Im not blaming you, but it does happen.

Oh yeah, I know. There are others out there who does it on purpose for pure torture, but in my case, the guy was snickering at me, almost as if he was in it for enjoyment purposes or just to be a total jackass. I had cameras on me and it was my responsibility to do what I had to do, simple as that.

God this topic is fun :wacky: I'm glad it hasn't turned into a shitstorm either.

The example Mitsuki and VR showed us it's just minorities abusing their own damn race. I have another example of this.

My boyfriend's aunt got divorced and she has three kids she needs to take care of. By the way, she lives in Texas and west Texas has a high Mexican population. She goes over to the welfare office to ask if she can get WIC for her kids. Note - She has no job right now, and three kids. The woman at the desk was, well, Mexican. She said: "No, your kids look too healthy." She argued with them and wouldn't give her any benefits. Apparently she was qualified for WIC.

I'll come back to this later.

Ugh, WIC checks are fucking evil...well, when you're a cashier they are, anyway. But I has even better examples. I'll just summarize them and link you guys to the articles.

In Memphis, TN, three stagehands were fired from the theatre or w/e because some stupid African American complained about looped knots used to raise the curtain up. The dumb *insert N word* said they looked like nooses.

And here's another story I dug up from a Missouri paper. Two band members were suspended for 10 days from school because they were trying to figure out the best way to tie their equipment to a truck, and one of them suggested a noose. Some black kid then went and told the band director that he felt "threatened" simply because they used to the word noose, they didn't even USE the goddamn noose.

This is what I'm talking about. Those two instances were in NO way, shape or form racist, yet simply because they can they blacks decided to get people in trouble. I also recall another story from Memphis from last year involving a noose, but I can't find the article online. Some scout was out in his front lawn practicing different types of knots and one happened to be a noose. Some random black guy is walking down the sidewalk, sees the noose and decides to sue for racial harassment. I don't know what the outcome was, but I'm sure he lost.

So then the only war mongering idiot in America is Cheney--is that what you're saying?

Well Cheney is definitely one of them, Rumsfeld was another big one. Alot of it also comes from private contractors who profit alot from the war, as well as weapons manufacturers.

Someone has recently reminded me of the 17-23% of people in America who still don't know where their country is on the world map, and that they still have the highest gun murder rate compared to other countries. I can't say having Bush for a president is exactly a dream either, and it's easy to judge any country by the person that controls it, and there are particular things about America that don't sound so great, but I never said it was the worst country ever. There are probably good things and bad things about it, but regardless of whatever you think of it, you have to accept America for the good and the bad. But how you take the "good" and the "bad" is entirely up to interpretation.

Oh good lord, the public education here is horrid, it was crummy before but Bush just destroyed it with his stupid No Child Left Behind act. That thing screwed over everyone, the schools, the teachers, the students. Yeah, there's alot of stuff here that's FAR from perfect. But all things considered, I'd damn sure rather live here than alot of other countries. And people have alot of opportunities here, too. One guy in my speech class is a *legal* Mexican immigrant, he's been in America for 10 years and he's wants to major in something business related. If he were still in Mexico he probably wouldn't get that chance.

Oh god, a lot of 'politically correctness' is just plain pathetic. Like the banning of 'Baa baa black sheep' for instance. The sheep is BLACK, that is it's colour. Not white, not blue or orange or fucking heliotrope, it is BLACK, hence the lyrics. It's about as ridiculous as changing pianos so that there are equal numbers of ebony and ivory keys, seriously, I would not be surprised with shit like this going on. A lot of white people are too damn scared of being accused as racist so they have to over-compensate for this with insane acts like that. To quote... somebody who's name I forgot ><, 'Oh no, I'm not racist! >_> Here, sleep with my sister! See, I'm not racist!! >_>'

I aso find it ridiculous that in some schools/work places people are banned from expressing their religion, even just wearing a cross, incase other religions 'get offended'. Are you KIDDING me!? What about when these other religions are walking down the street, and pass a church? Should that church be hidden under a tent so that nobody's feelings get hurt!? If some people really DO get offended by somebody wearing a cross then I would imagine that they would not take kindly to all of these churches lying around. What do you expect though, when you go to a country where the main religion is Christianity then you should be prepared for that. By banning crosses and the likes, people are being hidden from these things as opposed to learning to value and respect other people's opinions.

Oh I know they can think whatever they want, it just gets so tiresome seeing so much anti-American sentiment, especially in my own damn country. If you don't like Bush or the government, thats fine. I'll admit, most of our government is pretty corrupt, and I don't like it. But all these stupid faggy teens (especially the wapanese and hippies) whine about how our country just sucks balls and that they wish they lived in some other country and completely idolize every other country. Hate to break it to ya, but EVERY country is going to have its issues. It's that kind of uninformed, blatant hatred that pisses me off.

I agree, I wonder how Americans kind off want to be respected, if some of them admit hating their own country. What happened to patriotism and being proud of the land you were born? People tend to forget it. Not a single government in the world is uncorrupted, they all do their "stuff" and always work their best to make their life (not ours), better. Besides, Bush was elected by the people, so they should deal with it for making the wrong choice.

Respect is one thing, but people are too damn touchy and use the dumbest reasons to file for lawsuits and things of that nature. Like what about the term "retarded""? Perfectly legitimate word, it's been used for a long time. But suddenly that word has been deemed offensive and we have to say "special" or "challenged" and crap like that. Hell, even the Black Eyed Peas had to change their lyrics from "lets get retarded in here" to "lets get it started in here" on their song Lets Get Retarded (AKA Let's Get It Started) for the radio to play the song and for Walmart to even sell the album. Are they using the word retarded to insult mentally retarded people? No. But some pissed off mother of a retarded kid probably freaked out when she heard those lyrics and complained.

Now that's quite excessive. I mean, what happened to the Freedom of Speech? People are free to say whatever they want, and I concur that limiting it it's kind of against our rights. Again, the world is full of complainers so we have to deal with it. >_<

And I can't even make sense out of this, but in colleges it's now taboo to call classes "remedial." So my 0850 math course isn't remedial now, it's "developmental." Like wtf? Who decided "remedial" was offensive? I don't care what it's called, whenever people ask me what math I'm in I friggin tell them I'm in retard math. I could care less. Respect is fine and dandy, but people take things WAY to far and just don't know how to deal with stuff anymore. Before you know it someone will think up a way to be offended at the word "toast."
And I would lol on that. Seriously. Some people are kind of taking these too far and making our, already screwed world, more screwed and far worse, more boring.

You're misinterpreting my post. I don't think people should be given free reign to go around saying spiteful things. What I mean is that you have to check your ass before you even jokingly say something that has the possibility of being offensive. There are so many extreme restrictions on words.
Oh, my apologies then, I did misunderstood your point. Now I see it now.

You can't call someone fat even if you're not saying it in a mean way, you have to say overweight or other cuter sounding words.
That's just saying the same insult with words appropriate to their judgment. You are still calling that person fat. It's a reality, so they have to deal with it. It is not that they don't already know it. Again, it depends on how the comment is done and with what intention.

And I concur with you again, that's just And it just annoys the piss out of me that minorities are allowed to use racial terms, even in jest, but whites aren't. They treat us like the fucking devil.

Due to the fact that some retards (erm...might offend someone :wacky:), well more correctly said, "misguided and selfish" people were quite racist some years ago. The world was indeed racist, slavery was common, so it's not your fault, or my fault, or anyone's fault.

So treating Caucasians like devils is kind of racist too, don't you agree?

And speaking of minorities...and I the only one who thinks it's completely backwards that the minorities have all the leverage in politics and things of that nature? Wtf happened to the majority rules?

Sadly, our modern society considers the "majority decides" rule only on politics and when it most convenient. :ffs:

I'm not saying we should ignore their needs or anything like that, it's just that it seems minorities (be it racial or sexual) always manage to get their way in everything and they have to be allowed to win.

Yes, thanks to our already quite flawed society. The governments will never be fair with both parties, they just please one or the other.

I agree, I wonder how Americans kind off want to be respected, if some of them admit hating their own country. What happened to patriotism and being proud of the land you were born? I think the whole touchy-feely and emo crap sorta go along with that lack of patriotism. It's easy to spot the faults in this country, but people either blow them out of proportion or don't take the time to step back and look at the good aspects. And then you have the weeaboo faggots who think Japan is superior to every country in the world because they watch too much anime.

NO! WE DID NOT ELECT BUSH IT WUZ RIGGED I DEMAND ANUTHER RECOUNT!

Sadly though, even if the comment isn't meant to be offensive, if it's just out of concern for someone's health or anything like that....it could still be taken wrong. People are entirely too touchy.

Oh it's very racist indeed. It wasn't us keeping them as slaves, it was our great great grandfathers (and even then, only some, my ancestors weren't slave owners). And that brings me to a couple issues that pisses me off about the black community. I hope no one takes these as racist :/

I am so sick of having to say "African American" to be politically correct. You aren't African. You're an American. You wouldn't call a Japanese man whose family had been living here for 200 something years a Japanese American, you'd call him an American. I'm sure it's a way for them to hold onto their culture, but at the same time it has the effect of estranging them from the rest of the American population.

I'm also tired of hearing them complain about their ancestors being slaves. I'm sorry your great great granddaddy was a slave, but stop hating on whites for a second and stop to think: if he hadn't been a slave, you would probably still be in Africa today, starving or being raped in Darfur or getting some godawful disease. Not to mention blacks seem to largely ignore that a large portion of the slave trade was done by Africans selling each other off. I don't know if that's left out of history books these days or not, it probably is. It would just be nice if they could get like...a little perspective, ya know? Sadly, most people today (of any race) lack a proper perspective on things.

Well the world is of the strong, or at least it was like that several years ago.

Oh it's very racist indeed. It wasn't us keeping them as slaves, it was our great great grandfathers (and even then, only some, my ancestors weren't slave owners).

Hence why is not your fault. People should learn not to live in the past. What is done, is done and there's nothing we can do about it.

And that brings me to a couple issues that pisses me off about the black community. I hope no one takes these as racist :/

American is every human being born in America, regardless of their racial heritage. If you are black, you are still American. If you have latino heritage, you are still American. If you look like a Japanese though you were born in America, you are still an American. All of these devisions serve to make a more racist community, because in a country, we are all supposed to be equal before the eyes of the Law and the Land. The term of "African American" is somewhat wrong, because not everyone in Africa is black. Besides, a person is not African if he/she is not born in there. Besides, the true Native Americans were Indians, not Caucasians.

Again, living in the past serves to have our society stuck with past mistakes. If only people could learn not to live in the past.

Not to mention blacks seem to largely ignore that a large portion of the slave trade was done by Africans selling each other off. I don't know if that's left out of history books these days or not, it probably is. It would just be nice if they could get like...a little perspective, ya know? Yes, some of the most greedy and brutal slave traders were in fact, Africans selling their own kind which is a reason to not place the whole fault on Caucasians. All of these facts, sometimes ignored, are the proof that makes our society quite hypocritical.

Is like when some blamed the Jews for the death of Jesus. It is not their fault that a few, not all, of their ancestors chose to kill Jesus. Jesus was simply judged by Roman authorities and a society that rejected his teachings.

The above example was made to clear the fact it is not fair for us to bear the burden of guilt because of the actions of our ancestors, something we do most of the time.

Not a single race on this planet is perfect, nor superior to any other. The black skin is only a result of evolution to have a greater defense against sunlight in regions where the temperature was hot, and the amount of sunlight was greater. The white skin is because in said regions, such natural defense (black skin) was not necessary. In the end, we are all mutations. Eyes, skin, hair, height, weight, everything are different steps of evolution that the humankind takes, unwillingly, to resist the hardships of the region in which they were born.

I am not sure though of that part I said, I am still not that advanced with Genetics.

PS:
Aye, finally we brought down some of my favorite topics together: Genetics, Racism and Politics.:neomon:

I blame political correctness and the constant effort made today to not offend anybody. Can you imagine the shitstorm that would happen today if a black person read their history book and saw that Africans were involved in the slave trade?

Amen brutha. It's the same way with alot of rednecks down here in the south, too. They STILL hate the north and run around muttering "damned yankees" and slapping the rebel flag wherever they can, because they're pissed off the north won the Civil War nearly 200 years ago. I just wanna give them all a swift kick in the nuts and tell them to quit whining. None of them ever stop to think that if the north had let them secede, the south would have died out. The economy was agrarian based and aside from things like tobacco and cotton, the trade business was dying out because of the industrialism in the north. Plus, the south relied heavily on slaves for their plantations and the slavery trade was dying out.

People need to let the past go for god's sake, and to learn to think with their heads and brush up on their history.

Nope, you got it right :elmo: And caucasians are of lighter skin because regions they lived in (Britain, Russia, etc.) had environments that prompted people to be more bundled up in clothing. Thus, need for darker skin to protect from the sunlight was gone since the clothing did that for them. Pretty much every trait a race shares is related to the environment of the region it came from.

I totally forgot to mention that. If an Egyptian or a white South African came over here, nobody would call them "African American", even though they're both from Africa. It really does tend do away with equality when you single your race out.

Which is quite stupid, they don't call them "African American" only because they aren't black. It seems that we live in a society that loves to be quite selective with who to judge and who to not.

I blame political correctness and the constant effort made today to not offend anybody. Can you imagine the shitstorm that would happen today if a black person read their history book and saw that Africans were involved in the slave trade?

Correctness in spent of knowledge, revelations and truth? Nonsense! Just like you stated and based on it, I say that to deceive our children, the future, is to corrupt the very core of the humans that compose the society of the future. Correcting history through lies, a bit hypocritical when we try to promote honesty in our homes. Still, some believe that "the ends justify the means" and that a sweet lie is better than the bitter truth. (Sorry, I just watched "V for Vendetta" hours ago, and it fueled my debating side :elmo:)

And the people who insist on living in the past are eternally bound to the path of Ignorance, forced to be driven into committing the same mistakes. It is not to forget the past, but to remember it and learn not to do the same errors over and over again. Something, they seem to forget.

Which makes the whole point of placing one race above the other completely stupid, but what makes something beyond an astonishing level of idiocy is the fact that some people can be racist even to their own kind.

Haha, that movie could fuel countless debates. Quite the brilliant movie, really. It's a rather applicable quote to this, too. Seems that texbooks really do try to correct history to keep from offending others, or to make them feel better about being included. Although, I suppose history will always be told that way. People are bound to put their spin on things, or leave things out.

Also quite applicable :elmo:

I've always thought it quite ironic that blacks always fought during the civil rights against things like segregation...and yet, today they segregate themselves of their own free will. Practically anywhere you go, whether it's a classroom or a restaurant, the blacks cluster together.

Which makes the whole point of placing one race above the other completely stupid, but what makes something beyond an astonishing level of idiocy is the fact that some people can be racist even to their own kind.
Reminds me of Hitler kinda :wacky:

Wow, this shouldn't be in Costa de Sol. This seems more like a Shinra Building thread :p But I digress. I'm late, but I'm gonna jump in!

I honestly hate people attacking America. I'm not super patriotic or anything, but I really do love America. I've been lucky enough to see other countries, and I like America the most in terms of attitudes and living style (call me biased). I'm not saying America is perfect-- it certainly isn't-- but to me, it's one of the better countries. Not everyone in America is a stupid, obese hick who eats McDonalds all the time. For a while, I wanted to pretend I wasn't American. But you know, screw that. There's nothing wrong with being American. There's only one thing about Europe that I'm really envious of: the history! Europe has such great history and (if they weren't destroyed in wars) great historical sights. America doesn't really have that. I wish we did!

Correcting history is basically lying, and lying is basically inviting more corruption to our already flawed government. Oh well, we work our best with what we have, so we can't complain all day. If what we only do is complain about how bad the situation is, we would be eternally stuck in a very unproductive behavior. Too bad some people never learn

Yes, which ends up resulting in a more divided country.

Yes, I agree, this thread should be in the Shinra Building. We kind of made this thread a very serious and interesting Debate.

No country is perfect, but we live with what we have. Also America isn't that bad. There are a few peaceful areas in which I could relax all day. The problem is people telling the wrong side of the story and others no wanting to listen to our version.

Not everyone in America is a stupid, obese hick who eats McDonalds all the time.
People tend to make stereotypes. We should get used to it.

For a while, I wanted to pretend I wasn't American.
While your mind may wanted to deny it, your heart would probably end up doing the opposite. There's nothing wrong feeling proud of the place you were born. For example, I am Puertorrican, and I don't give a fuck what others think about it.:wacky: Besides, I have spring/summer like years almost the whole year. Cold days are relaxing, not too cold, and are fine days to rest.

But you know, screw that. There's nothing wrong with being American. There's only one thing about Europe that I'm really envious of: the history! Europe has such great history and (if they weren't destroyed in wars) great historical sights. America doesn't really have that. I wish we did!
There's nothing to envy aside from a few interesting historical events, but America sure have its own history and no one should be considered better nor superior to the other. The Native Americans had (or still have) a very interesting culture, and advanced to their current time. America is not USA alone, but the whole North and South parts of the continent, meaning that we have Aztecs, Caribbean Indians, Pirates, Pyramids, Forests, all sorts of rare fauna and flora, beautiful places, we have all sorts of advanced civilizations that left their mark in history, just as Europeans did.

hah thats funny. i dont live in an amish community but theyre everywhere around here. im in lancaster, pa

rofl i have so many angry rants i could go on in this thread

You only live a few miles away from me. Nifty.

Those amish can be a nuisance. Their damn horses crappin' all over the streets. I got caught behind a horse n' buggy a few days ago. Fortunately, I rarely encounter 'em.

I too, am now jumping in...

3. All this political correctness and uber sensitivity makes me sick. OH NOES! Be careful you don't make a race joke or call someone overweight, you might offend them and hurt their feelings, and lord knows thats the worst crime you can commit! Seriously, people tread on eggshells because they're afraid they might hurt some little pussy's feelings. What the hell happened to growing a pair and not letting it bother you? And the entire hypocrisy of the racial thing drives me insane. It's perfectly acceptable for a Jew or black or Mexican or homosexual to make fun of other races or demographics, but when a white person makes a simple joke, they're immediately branded as a racist and will likely get their ass beat. Buncha damned hypocrites use it as a leverage point, where else would they get their lawsuits?

OK, I'll admit it, political correctness grates on my nerves.
Its fine for Any other race/religion etc. to make fun of white people, but can white people make fun of them?
NO!
I'm not saying we should, words can hurt but it doesn't seem fair to me...

All that annoying political correctness is over the top too, "Vertically challenged", "horizontally challenged", "visually challenged", "intellectually challenged"...
As if calling someone challenged isnt offensive anyway...

The children-related protection shit is the worst imo.
It's gotten so out of hand, I remember back when I was little and even then, some 15 years ago, we were doing stuff that kids these days can't dream of because of this-or-that law or this-or-that overprotective mega-bitch (Thank you Drop Dead Fred) but now, so much of the good stuff has been banned, edited or simply fucking removed!
Yes, I realise that 15 years wasn't that long ago, so I can hardly talk about the "good old days" and some such, but even then we were allowed to have fun!

I remember getting a BB Gun for my sixth birthday, and going out with my dad and shooting him.
Yes, shooting my dad, with a BB Gun...
I still own that BB Gun, but if I showed it to a kid these days they'd only know it off of the incessant amount of television they watch...

A school over here in Australia, decided to ban card games as "they got the children too riled up"
All card games are banned.
Trading cards, actual cards, football cards etc.
ALL GONE!
This school tried to ban their (wait for it) slides.
Because the "likelihood of a child falling off a (1-2m high) slide and breaking a bone is a high chance these days"
The school ended up putting rails on the side of the slide.

Damn it, this stuff annoys me

What's with modern "music"? The quality and depth of most mainstream music seems to have declined. You no longer get so many original sounding bands, with a unique, distinctive sound, such as AC-DC and Black Sabbath. But loads of clones such as the "Kaiser Chiefs" and "Artic Monkeys"... not to mention the huge amount of pop and rap/hip-hop singers. Alot of it is not good, quality music, it's crap. And yes, this is coming from a seventeen year-old. I see most recent "chart" music as being simply resynthesised crap with no original lyrics. Perhaps I'm just not looking in the right places, but the day of rock and metal gods is mostly gone for now. All you see in the HMV top ten is "indie" rock; sameish, annoying pop; and rap and hip hop which makes your ears bleed. The good bands, such as Arch Enemy, are far and few between now, and hardly ever get into the top ten.

Screw you, modern "music"!

What I don't understand is... Why are we censoring so much from kids? Sure censoring sex, drugs, violence is fine at a very young age, but kids need to be exposed to this to some degree. Once they start to grow up, they might do rebellious thing such as doing drugs, have sex, and possibly do violent things. (I'm not saying ALL teens but I've seen it happen around here quite often.)

This is a pretty common example... A girl grows up in a catholic family. Her parents barely touch the topic of sex but they strongly advise her to not have sex until she is 21 or married. Girl grows up and goes to college... Guess what? She's a huge slut. My boyfriend lived in a souther catholic community. Some of the girls he went to school with grew up like this, with a strict catholic family. Yes, they're sluts in college now. :/ (No even catholic, could be just strict parents.)

Also the whole mother day card in England is just stupid. Kids who have no mom can write to a card to a close female. Just doing this to kids makes will make them feel worse in the future. They're going to have a harder time dealing with no mother. God no wonder why we emo is such a trend.

I remember getting a BB Gun for my sixth birthday, and going out with my dad and shooting him.
Yes, shooting my dad, with a BB Gun...
I still own that BB Gun, but if I showed it to a kid these days they'd only know it off of the incessant amount of television they watch...

You'll shoot your eye out, kid! :gasp:

*had to insert the movie reference*

A school over here in Australia, decided to ban card games as "they got the children too riled up"
All card games are banned.
Trading cards, actual cards, football cards etc.
ALL GONE!
This school tried to ban their (wait for it) slides.
Because the "likelihood of a child falling off a (1-2m high) slide and breaking a bone is a high chance these days"
The school ended up putting rails on the side of the slide.

Damn it, this stuff annoys me
That...is ridiculous. Then again I frequently hear of things like dodgeball and other harmless games being banhammered because of the "danger", and sometimes P.E. activities being banned just because if someone loses it'll hurt their precious self esteem.

Thus why I listen to alot of 80's music:neomon: There are still some great current bands today...only problem is they're few and far between. Most of the pop music today is shallow and pedantic *Family Guy reference for the hell of it* and either bawws about some girl the singer can't get over or how some dude's bitches and hoes need to get out the way.

WE HAS TO PROTECT THEIR SENSITIVE MINDS :gasp:

I've always found it humorous that parents try to protect elementary age kids from things like cursing...or hell, on the internets in message boards :neomon: I think people try to fool themselves into thinking their child isn't being exposed to any of that, but for fuck's sake, any child in the public school system is going to learn to curse and much more in their early years. A couple weeks ago my half-sister and my youngest nephew, Tyler, were here for the weekend. Around his mom and my parents he won't cuss, but when he was back in my room watching my play Half-Life 2, he was saying everything from "damn" to "fuck." He's only 8. And for that matter, why DO people freak out about curse words so much anyway? I've never understood it. They're only words, and they're much less taboo today then they were 30 years ago. They're pretty much common place now.

So yeah, people need to get a little more realistic. Or how people will act like violent videogames are so terrible and kids shouldn't be exposed to them. Um, well guess wut? They're gonna see things just as bad, if not worse on TV. Not that I'm condoning a little kid playing GTA, it's bad enough they see that stuff and they don't need to play it. But people need to realize not everything is flowers and sunshine.

First of all, arctic monkeys are win and so are muse and placebo and many others, if you dont like indie/alternative music then that's your bad.
and lol at ACDC, i like ACDC a lot, but original is one thing they arent, their songs sound the same.
and for sabbath, they are nowhere as good as zep.
i agree with pop music, which i hate and most rap, ffs no one wants to hear about your hoes.

i wish i new more catholic girls, oh well:wacky:

like VR said, parents cant protect their children from the world forever, and if they were to succeed, they would have fucked up their child. The world isnt a nice place, it doesnt want you to have a nice time, so its not helping teaching your children that it is. Sure sex drugs and violence are bad when you're twelve, but when people are 15+ they know all about sex and drugs, a lot of them have no doubt had sex and/or drugs.
i was listening to a song the other day and they beeped out words like suicide and gun, its just stupid imo

Yes, the world is actually more darker than certain families, or religious groups want to make us believe. As I constantly state, there are two kinds of people: those willing to use others (master hands) and those unwillingly but ultimately used (pawns), and the world is just a giant chessboard. Move a piece, you alter the course of history, make a mistake and you'll have it marked forever, perform a key move and you'll end up having things going your way.

Simply, the key to success is knowing how to use the pieces that life grants you to your benefit. I believe it is a rather selfish philosophy, nevertheless, it is one of the few "choices" we have that include a very successful result, and it has been proved correct many times.

Now back to the topic, it has been proven again that the more you wish your child to be "perfect" or to keep him/her away from the influence of the world, the more susceptible that child will be to said influence. These archaic "isolating" methods that work in an attempt to shield our children from "evil" might be the first thing that leads them to that, and to raise them with in such way may lead to unpredictable results.

Trying to protect your children from everything just makes things harder on them in the long run. A normal child would grow up with pain and people talking down about him, and eventually will toughen up and learn to shrug it off. But a sheltered child will be shocked the first time anything hurtful happens to them, and they'll be easily manipulated and a weak person in general.

All this protection and censoring and whatnot is only setting people up for a greater fall when they enter the real world.

In other words, manipulation is the key to success. And not necessarily making stupid people do your bidding, but being able to read people. Whether it's a boss or teacher, if you can figure out what they want, then play their whims to your advantage and get yourself to where you need to be.

Aye, quite true that. My Jesus freak mother did her goddamn best to shelter me as a child, I wasn't even allowed to watch things like Power Rangers. Then in 8th grade they sent me to a Christian school, and the first two years were hellish. I was bullied and SO naive, I didn't know shit about anything and frankly it was humiliating and embarrassing. But 10'th grade I learned to be a horribly mean bastard and corrected the situation. And I've completely written off anything my mom ever taught me, all that Christian crap and her ridiculously strict set of morals. Of course growing up and learning to think with my brain helped a bit, too :neomon:
