In this months Rock Sound Magazine Matt Heafy, guitarist and singer of metal band Trivium said the following:
I would love to do music scores for Final Fantasy video games, but my time off is so rare so I don't even bother with anything that is not Trivium based.
Could this mean Trivium would be open to providing music to a future Final Fantasy title? It seems unlikely but if SE offered would they say no? I personally would LOVE Trivium to do a song on a game maybe for like a boss battle or the final boss or something (remember the awful end boss music of FFX? Something better than that.). I'm not even really a big fan of theirs.

Any thoughts?

It's been a while since I listened to anything Trivium-based, though anything they produce relating to FF would certainly be worth listening to at least once.

If they pursue this, I'll be eagerly awaiting the outcome. Not my favourite band by far, but they could make it work well if they introduce originality into such a production.

I have no idea who trivium are but i liked the FFX boss music but id be open to any kind of music in an FF..... as long as i liked it lol

If you read the quote, it's pretty clear it would actually have nothing to do with Trivium, hence him (as a single person, rather than a band entity) not having any time off and "not bothering with anything that is not Trivium based." So basically, he's a songwriter who would like to score a video game, sort of like Nightwish's Tuomas Holopainen wanting to one day score movies.

That aside, I highly doubt such a thing (schedules notwithstanding) would ever happen.

No thanks. I dont think bands should realy do game OSTs, I dont know. It just should be left to the original composers.

Matt Heafy, hmmmmm. Nobody seemed opposed to Gackt doing DoC, and he did a good job, but I'm not sure if Matt would suit the role. It seems unlikely SE would ask him. Those things traditionally go to Japanese artists like Gackt and Rikki.

Actually it wouldn't be a bad idea as long as they kept away from the shitty Metalcore/Screamo style they throw about. Heafy is a talented bugger and could probably pull it off well.

Fixed, no he's not, compared to possibly Corey and the drummer, he's shite.

Fuck that, FF is getting bad enough as it is, the last thing we need is bloody trivium writing the music.

Good god, please no. The last think FF needs is to let Trivium get involved, just let Uematsu write the music considering he does a great job with it.

OH HELL NO.

Trivium shouldn't be allowed within 1000 yards of Uematsu. Let Uematsu do what he does best, compose brilliant soundtracks. I'd probably be forced to hang myself if this ever happened.

I got a promotion copy of Trivium's The Crusade album lying around somewhere, and judging from those "compositions", I wouldn't even trust Matt Heafy to write as much as 5 minutes of supermarket muzak. There's really no reason to tarnish the franchise any further.

Am i the only person who likes both Trivium and Uematsu...i just dont like Trivium when they start doing the shouting and high pitched screaming thing...if they uematsu made the song and trivium made...go for it say
