Zidane is one of my favorites, but "badass" usually doesn't come to mind when you think of him. FF6 has my favorite cast of characters but none of them can really be considered lead. Shadow is probably the most badass party member, but he definitely isn't lead. Butz barely had a personality to speak of. Vaan is.....Vaan. 'nuff said. I'd have to go with Squall or Cecil. Cloud just doesn't have enough personality.

EDIT: also, in the game's animation it does show cloud throwing sephiroth down the reactor, as opposed to his jumping down in the movie.
 
Zidane, he was adventurous, DID notice the girl and was not weighed down by indecisiveness.

Anyway, I chose Cloud aswel. I don't like up beat main characters they get to annoying. He seemed pretty hard at first until he realised he was a fuck up......but still. He has a big sword :monster:

Big sword ≠ badassery

I think I should list some reasons why Cecil >>>>> Cloud.

1. He's a dark knight. Badass class by default, and just how many FF games have had that class? Not many.

2. He was captain of the Red Wings.

2. He leads a raid against a town to steal their crystal.

3. He kicks his own ass.

4. He has a sword called Black which deals instadeath.

5. He defeated Odin.

6. He wasn't emo or mentally unstable.

7. His gf can fight and isn't a whiny bitch.

8. When he becomes a "pretty boy prince", as Fatal Impurity called it, his stats actually go up.

But naturally, you would expect it to be more accurate, since it is a revamp of the story. So I'm just going with that.

Anyway, I'm gonna go with Ramza from Final Fantasy Tactics. He was badass, and had his ups and downs, but in the end was quite the character.

Your confusing 'actively embarrassed cloud' which he was prior to being experimented on, with 'mako poisoned cloud'.

From that point on he truely thought he was (as Zack had desired) an Ex-SOLDIER going mercenary in Midgar, he wasn't pretending anymore.

But it is entirely your right to believe that CC ruined the original story, and I'm sorry for trying to convince you otherwise.

It did, just like the rest of the compilation. Pay moar attention to VII and you might notice some inconsitancies.

And yeah, why didn't they count FFT in the poll, the characters in that were so well done.
 
The winner for me is Cloud. He takes the award for most badass character hands down. With his fighting style, and his bike fenrir, nobody can beat him.
 
Yeah, his bike was pretty rad, in both VII and AC. Im gonna have to customize me a bike like that when I steal all of Bill Gate's money xD
 
Vaan beat up some rats in a sewer. That is like so baddass!

I think I'd also have to say Cecil. I mean, he's a Dark Knight, and Dark Knights just pwn.
 
Zidane is probably the most badass to be honest. A womanizing thief with a tail who has morals to balance himself out just so he can cope with himself.:neomon:

Then we have Cecil with his "Fuck you King, I don't like what your doing so im gonna take you and the mightiest Kingdom down!!! I also have a sword called DEATH and bone a hot White Mage chea!" kinda thing going on (may have exaggerated a tad there).

Third place will go to Cloud. Yeah he was a bit fucked up but that whole lying about his life thing out of the way he was actually quite cool. Big sword, lethal hair style, cool personality, has two girls on the go at the same time, rides Fenrir, and manages to kill Sephiroth despite being only a Grunt (Last Order is wrong L :mad:). And who manages to survive being caved in on, drowned and ends up on the other side of the world?
 
i would have to say squall because of his scar and the fact that he has a kick ass weapon which is the gunblade
 
Cecil and Cloud have their moments, but I voted for Zidane. Tidus and Vaan are the furthest from badass a Final Fantasy lead can get. I would add Celes, as she is one of the two leads of VI (well, the lead of the second half, anyway). So I voted for Zidane.

...Of course, if Balthier had been an option...
