As we all know, (based on the most popular theories that circle the intrawebs), Tidus is an alternate version of Shuyin. After Zanarkand was destroyed 1000 years ago, the fayth worked together to summon a dream Zanarkand. Some of the features of their dream, however, were not entirely accurate.
Supposedly, Tidus is the depiction of the Fayth's memory of a star blitzball player called Shuyin, who lived in Zanarkand 1000 years ago. Tidus is not real; he's a memory (and not entirely accurate at that).

Tidus = the fayth's memory of Shuyin.
Jecht = the fayth's memory of Shuyin's father figure.
Tidus' memories = Shuyin's memories.

But the thing that stumps me the most is that Tidus, being a recollection of Shuyin, doesn't have any memory of Shuyin's girlfriend, Lenne. Theory may suggest that Tidus developed such strong feelings for Yuna because she reminded him of (a long forgotten) Lenne (who was also a summoner in Zanarkand, 1000 years back).

What do you all think??

I would think that this is the most logical explanation for that. Yuna would be so much like Lenne. Although Tidus is a collection of Shuyin, he may not have met Lenne at the point in the timeline. Or, the fayth may have neglected to add her since she did exist in Spira in some form (and as a summoner, she would be known to the fayth). Meh, not really sure...the real explanation is probably the fact that Square didn't write that part in ;).

I agree with Drakur. I wish they'd add a little more of an explanation somewhere in the sttoryline, but whatever. Maybe, since Lenne is/was a summoner sometime in Shuyin's past, she was known to the Fayth, but they decided not to add her memories because they knew he'd meet Yuna maybe?

See, that's what confuses me about Lenne and Yuna as well. It makes me wonder...I mean, why would they resemble Yuna to Lenne, as the same situation with Tidus and Shuyin? (both are summoners/blitzball players) What are they trying to imply...? Clearly, there's a connection between Yuna and Lenne - Square just never officially announced what's up with the whole thing. They never hinted that Yuna is also the Fayth's memory of Lenne, although I suppose there is that possibility (however far-fetch that may seem).

I mean, there's the theory that Tidus is the Fayth's memory of Shuyin, right? Well, why not the same case as Lenne and Yuna? Evidently, the Fayth had contact with Lenne 1,000 years ago, because in the beginning of X-2, there was this FMV cutscene and it showed Yuna dancing while wearing the Songstress dress. The Fayth said something like, "That was the last memories of the last wearer" (not the same exact quote, I'm sure)...referring to Lenne, of course, since Lenne did wear that same dress.

But then again, that wouldn't explain why Yuna was actually real to begin with, and not a dream like Tidus. I wonder why they didn't dream up Lenne, but did so with Shuyin. I mean really, it would make more sense if Yuna is also a memory of Lenne - it just defeats that theory though since she was actually born in Spira.

It's quite a complex theory, but I do feel people are reading too much into the similarities. :P

They had to make Lenne a summoner of the sake of the story. Remember the sphere? "I have to save the lady summoner!" If Shuyin hadn't said that and had instead said something like "I have to save the songstress Lenne!" it's unlikely Yuna would have seen the sphere. I doubt Rikku would want to upset her cousin by making it look like Tidus was in love with someone else. They had to give Yuna a reason to go looking for Tidus. Who would go looking for a former lover who was in love with someone else?

Some might ask why Yuna turned into Lenne during 1000 Words but that was purely the sphere Yuna carried. And the songstress clothes are down to the sphere too.

And they had to make Shuyin look like Tidus so that Yuna would go looking for him. If Shuyin had had brown hair, a skinny body and paler skin Yuna wouldn't have mistaken him for Tidus.

Yes this may be, and as all of you are saying Yuna is a dream as well. Then why didn't she disappear with Tidus at the end of X?

THis brings up a new point. Ten years before the Enternal Calm, we all know that Braska defeated Sin with the help of two guardians. THey were: Sir Auron, and Jecht. However, if Tidus was just a memory of Shuyin, does this mean that Jecht was also just a plain memory, or was Tidus also born around when Yuna was?

Also, Auron, he was supposedly killed after that. However, in the beginning of the game, he is shown in Zanarkand, which of course was 1000 years into the past. We all know he is a ghost, but a ghost can not travel through time, can they? So, was Auron also real during Braska's pilgrimage?

The only people in the game who are "non existent" are Tidus and Jecht. Tidus and Jecht never "existed" to begin with; they're just memories of who real people (like Shuyin) used to be before their deaths. These memories are given physical entities by pirefiles.

Braska, Yuna, and Auron are all real people, living in the real world, while dream Zanarkand exists simultaneously beside Spira. The only difference between Spira and DZ is that the people of Spira continue to grow and expand their civilizations, while the inhabitants of DZ never progress through time.
Living in dream Zanarkand would be like living in a world where people don't age, and time doesn't flow. Apparently, it's always night time in dream Zanarkand as well. DZ is also constructed in a pre-war era; hence why Tidus has no clue about the war.

As for Auron being able to freely pass into dream Zanarkand...

The only explanation that I can think of is that DZ is built out at sea, in a location where it wouldn't easily be discovered by anyone (dead or alive). The only reason that Auron found it was because Sin/Jecht brought him there.
I would think that a live person wouldn't be able to enter dream Zanarkand (even if it was somehow visible to them). Just as a real person can walk through a dead person's body in Spira, they would pass right through DZ, even though it appeared to be real.
A dead person only exists through people's memories. If no one ever knew you in this lifetime, and you died...you'd have virtually never existed in the world. That's one way to look at death in spira. In the game, Auron is nothing but memories being sustained by pireflies. He's a memory, and so is Zanarkand...hence why he's able to pass through freely...

Huh. I see. Well, thx for the info Rhea.

Ahhh why did you not use spoiler quotes, now my version of the FFX storyline is screwed up. I thought it was just Auron went to get Tidus to see Jecht in the future, and they died but weren't sent to the Farplane.
