Anybody ever got one of these?

Friend of mine had it happen and he was pissed.
I hope it doesn't happen to mine, but i heard the rate at which this is happening is about 30%

Yeah, it happens and it means you have a fucked up system!!!!

If he has a warrenty then he shouldn't really worry. lol. Xbox has been fucking up recently.

This happened to my friend when we were horseplaying. Did you try to check all the cords and cables?

Actually, it's a fatal system ro hardware error that cannot be fixed except by sending it to Microsoft and having them send you a replacement, which they do for free.

Not experienced this problem...yet. Of course I've had a number of problems with the 360, but not this one.

What, like that's something new? It's Microsoft, for god's sake.

See, this issue is why I plan on waiting a while longer before I get my 360. Hell, I even once saw in Gamestop a mother brought in her son's brand new second 360 controller that wasn't working, and they tried it on the store 360 and it still wouldn't work. Pretty crappy when controllers are effing up on you.

Hahah the red rings of death. Well I've heard about it. The guys at the local gamestop have never stopped harping us for not having insurance on our Xbox. I have heard rumors though.

I've also heard that Microsoft will automatically redeem you with a new Xbox system if yours glitches like this.

I bought my 360 off a buddy of mine back in April and it happened to me about Mid-May. I called Microsoft and they charged me $104 to send me a brand new system and give me a new 3 year warranty.

Well...I was pisseda about losing the $104, but I was happy to have my Xbox 360 back and all that jazz.

I had a nice surprise though 2 weeks ago when Microsoft sent me a check in the mail for $104 reimbursing me for my payment made 3 months ago. haha apparently Miscrosoft is now fixing everyones Red Ring of Death's for free when they happen since it's happened so often.

That's very unMicrosoft-like behavior O_O Maybe they're getting nicer. Where did they come up with $104 though? That's such a random number.

I was about $125 I would have had to pay regularly, but since originally my Xbox JUST went out of warranty, they gave me like a 5% discount price or something. That's why it was $104 and some odd cents.

Maybe their getting nicer, maybe they're just getting harped on that they know they have a few bugs left in the systems still. Otherwise, I'm still happy though.

5% discount? That's kinda cheap of them....well, I guess it's better than nothing though. Maybe they've had enough people complain to them about bad business policies.

Hopefully they'll have their bugs worked out by next year, by then I ought to be getting a 360.

I had this happen to me once but it was only because my cat pulled the power cable halfway out of the wall. I hope that I never get it for a system crash though, that would suck.

Well I am getting 360 Ellite in few days...and hopefully there will be no red rings happening ...but if it does happen...I guess I'll just have to deal with it.....

I've had my 360 for nearly two years now and I've yet to see this on mine. I have however had few problems (only minor) with dirty disc read errors but the worst was with GRAW2 in which case I had to return the game and get a refund as it was totally unplayable. Hopefully when I get a PS3, I'll buy it for that and see it works if GRAW2 still doesn't play on a Elite 360.

Well....Elite works fine so far..:D....actually the only thing I am worried is that the dust is going in through the top...wish I could find some decend cover for it while it is turned off...

This is why we wait for game systems.

So, they can solve all the glithces and things. Such as this damn red ring.

i haven't, cuz i don't have a 360, but my friend Seth got home from the halo 3 release thingie, put Halo 3 in his 360... and got the red ring of death xD

I have no clue why it happens, but I am sure it has nothing to do with Halo 3. It more sounds to me like this thing happens due to some kind of short circut in the machine itself...and people do have a tendecy of overdoing it when they play.

Yeah, from what I've read, it's not down to the game as I've heard it happen with lots of other games. I guess it's all down to many factors such as placement of machine, how long you use it etc. Luckily, I've never had that problem and my 360 is standing right next to my Wii and my Alien head collection box. I do think that it's due to over playing as I remember that the PS1 had major problems with the lens overheating and melting with the first lot of machines.

Yeah, what Val says sounds like it....and what I said above

A technical failure like that, major one, cannot have anything to do with a game disc,.......no matter what game you put in the machine if it is bound to happen it will happen...
