FF Music Which Musics best? FFVI or FFVII?

these two games are often said by fans to contain the best music in FF history so which do you think contains the best music then?

FFVI contains some great peices of music such as :

Aria Di Mezzio Caraterre
Terras theme
Forever Rachel
Dancing Mad
Coin Of Fate
And Celes' theme amongst others

While FFVII contains such classics as:

Aeriths theme
One Winged Angel
Main theme
J-E-N-O-V-A
Cid's theme
Weapon theme
Turks theme
and Yuffies theme amongst others

(yeah i just put my favorites down XD)

personally i prefer FFVIIs music...just. Terra and Celes' themes are a good enough match for J-E-N-O-V-A and OWA but for me its the orchestral version of Aeriths theme which makes FFVII win for me :)

Buyt out of the two I'd pick VII by quite a bit. It's more that I really don't like VI's music much, it has Terra's Theme, Shuffle Slam and perhaps one or two more that I'd consider good. VII at least had quite a few good tracks in it:
Interrupred By The Fireworks
You Can Hear The Cry Of The Planet
Cosmo Canyon
The Birth Of God
Crazy Motorcycle Chase
Shinra Corp.

And there's a few others I could add to the list. So yeah, VII for me.
 
i cant really remember vi music i can remember the opera song but thats about it, so id have to go with VII, the junon tune was catchy as hell.
 
Its funny that you said people consider the music in these games to be the best because it wasn't until FFVIII that the music actually took on an orchestral quality. Nobuo Uematsu was limited by some data format or something -- reason why each song was so similar to the last (especially FFVII). This of course only refers to the quality of the audio and the arrangements. The actual pieces of of music in those games have since then been fleshed out and rearranged, rewritten, and stylized and ended up fantastic in their own right.

That junk aside (I like arguing -- my apologies), looking at my experiences when I was younger, FFVII had the better music for me as did the overall experience of the game.

but kefka aventually got to rule the world, 4th tier to dancing mad is slightly better than O-WA, and Kefka has a even number of wings !
 
I'm voting for VII just because I listen to it 24/7 now.
I have it in the car, in the CD player, in the PC, everywhere.
So yes, VII, plus I like the themes of each characters, contrary to popular opinion. :rolleyes:
 
Gotta go with VII's. I like VI's music....I just liked VII's more xD Aeris's theme, OWA and the like, just appealed to me more.
 
heh I really like both. but I'd choose VI bcoz of the boss battle theme and celes theme and many others. but the gap is very close.

FFVI for me. It's my favourite game, great battle music, I prefer Dancing Mad to One Winged Angel (calm down), and the opera is great too.

Yeeeh, I remember more from VI then VII. Totally loved Wild West.

You can't say opinions are wrong! This is what I believe. I just do like it better, it's such a strong piece.
Really surprised to see FFVI keeping up with VII though, I was expecting a lot more fanboys ;P
 
oh they're even now. FF6 seems to be Italian themed. It's very classical and I love it. FF7 on the other hand is Spanish.

how people can say VI is better really astounds me. Do you actually play FF games!?

No offence, but Final Fantasy VII easilly wins this battle. FFVII's themes are extremely rememberable. I mean, when you walked into Costa Del Sol for the first time, you must have stayed there that bit longer to hear the full tune. And the chocobo theme was nice, there are so many others too. The thing about FFVII is the tunes actually went with the mood and with the locations. On FFVI, the music wasn't emotional enough for me.. I have to go with VII if you didn't already guess.
 
FFVII's music SOO owns. my personal favourite out of the lot is the piano version of One Winged Angel. lawl

It's really not a fair decision. Though I have only played FFVI once, I do still realize that it has some of the best music in the series. I only make this decision based on the actual orchestrated versions of the songs.

These are the only games which tie in terms musical genius.
