Why do they have a woman doing Zidane's voice in Dissidia?
And they really have him lookin girly in this one

Well, Zidane in FF9 was a sort of chibified character, and I guess Nomura didn't want to change him too much from the original design. Thus, he does look a little small and childish compared to the rest of the roster, which consists mainly of large burly men. I wouldn't really say he looks girly though, just a bit kiddish.

I think Square did a great injustice by making him sound like a 10 year old. This really annoys me because Zidane was one of my favourite main heroes of the FF series. It really doesn't make any sense, nor does it suit his character at all. He was 16 at the begining of FF9, and it's possible to assume that he may have been a couple of years older during the ending FMV.

Kuja's voice is really good I think though. But I guess we'll just wait and see what they do for the translation, I usually prefer English dubs for video games anyways.

He's my favorite hero too
I, too, usually prefer English Dubs, I hope they get it right for that

?

The only character in Dissidia who could be considered burly is Jecht. Warrior of Light, Firion, Onion Knight, Cecil, Bartz, Cloud, Squall, and Tidus aren't even close to burly. Don't get me wrong, their great characters, but they aren't exactly poster children of manliness.

Ok, maybe it was the wrong adjective to use, I mainly meant in comparison to Zidane who seems to be rather small compared to the rest of them. At least most of the other guys get some muscle tone, Zidane is looking closer to a shrimpy little kid. They made him sound like one too =/

That's what Zidane has always been though. Making Zidane manly is like making Golbez's shoulders tiny, its just not right madame.

I'm not really concerned over him looking smaller, in my first post I did state that is how he's always been.

I just don't like how he sounds like a 10 year old, that's what I find irritating. He may look childish compared to the rest of the roster, but he's still a 16 year old. From my understanding, Onion Knight is the youngest character and even he still sounds older than Zidane does. I just find the the overly childish portrayal of him to be a great disservice to the character we saw in FF9.

In all honesty I've always seen Zidane as the most childish of the FF heroes. I find Dissidia's portrayal of him rather fitting. To each his own, I suppose.

To each his own indeed :)

To be honest, I found Tidus to be the most childish in terms of maturity, but at the same time I found he was the hero to do some of the most growing up, so it sort of evens out. I'm glad for the cool fight stunts he's getting in this game, from my memory, I don't recall him having too many in FFX.

...and I totally shifted the subject XD

Tidus is definitely up there in terms of childishness, but I rank Zidane higher because he has the behaviors as well as the aesthetic, whereas Tidus has a more adult like appearance. And it is indeed refreshing to see that Tidus was given some dapper moves, as well as the rest of the cast showing off both new and old skills. It's wonderful that Squenix is almost creating a new genre with this, rather than just giving us a "slash/kick/repeat" Street Fighter clone with FF thrown in.

I understand how Zidane is to look smaller, more childlike than the rest. That is how the character is. You can get round that by him not being human etc.

But I don't understand the 10 year old voice. I NEVER imagined him as a child like that. In appearance, perhaps, but not in voice. I certainly hope it is something they fix with the english version, if there is to be one.

I hope there is an English version, and I hoope there is a better voice for him, maybe Jeff Nimoy, the guy who did WOlfwood's voice in Trigun? Or maybe better yet
LEONARD NIMOY!

Japanese actors always sound like they've got their balls in a vice. Unless you're talking about Zidane's english voice being high-pitched and girlie, I wouldn't really worry about it. The Japs like things more cartoony. Americans like characters with some chest hair. I'm sure even the most wimpy of characters will sound like Patrick Stewart in the end.

The voice is awful. In FF9 every character looked up to Zidane and learned from him. It's kinda hard to see him in that role when he sounds pre-pubescent.

...sexy :P
I think if they could get anyone for Zidane, they may aswell bring in Jean Claude van Damme. Or Zizou, just so he could have a French accent. ;))

Arg.., no, please no French accent, that would just be weird
If only Bon Scott were still alive, and did voice overs

Yeah I find this very weird also because A girl is doing Zidane's voice and he's a guy for gods sake!!! Yeah I have to agree on his design though its a bit girly!!!

I never really considered Zidane a 'childish' character. I mean sure he was a lot more lighthearted than most other main characters, but still he hardly acted like a child through most of the game. However I can see how people could see him that way considering his optimistic helpful attitude toward most things...

I expected him to sound younger than the others for sure, but certainly not like an elementry student... >_>

I have two words for you regarding his voice: Son Goku. Biggest badass of his own universe, forever voiced by a very squeaky voiced woman.
To say that Zidane doesn't have a little monkey king in him is to very much deny his personality.

Lies. Lies and Slander. Cecil is so fucking manly he can wear lipstick and still outtestosterone a room full of testicles.

But yeah, even though Zidane is voiced by a woman, he still comes across as more masculine to me than Tidus.
