Yu Yevon

But that's not a valid excuse to make Yu Yevon look utterly crappy. I wouldn't mind fighting the same battle, as long as Yu-Yevon looked cooler.

Absolutely, it did seem as though the character designer had lost his gusto by that point and just slapped something together. Very sloppy indeed.

Perhaps having Yu Yevon take his former human-form from 1000 years before might have made it more satisfying.

Thta's pretty much what I was expecting, Im sure you can imagine my dissapointment when beetle man showed up -_-

I remember sitting there thinking WTF is THAT! *shakes head* It really did put a dampner on an otherwise epic game

That would have been a whole lot better. Or at least some hideous, gigantic fiend.

He was a metroid, damnit, not a Beetleborg!

Good point, and they didn't cast auto-life on you either.

And really, why WOULD Yu Yevon cast auto-life on everyone anyway? It makes no sense just as a boss fight, but even less story-wise. Jecht was the one who wanted to be stopped, as far as we know Yu Yevon wouldn't want to give your party an easy time beating him.

That might lead us to the conclussion that their brains fried when making that boss battle. :neomon:

Yes, Jecht wanted to be stopped yet he never held back during that fight (except when you use the Tidus talk option), yet Yu Yevon wanted to destroy you and he casted auto life on the party, which is quite retarded.

Eh, Yu Yevon's looking crappy amused me. Kind of reminded me of those cartoons where there was some big and powerful villain, only to be a little midget guy in a big robot suit with all of the levers and stuff. xD

Kind of goes to show how Yu Yevon was the guy/thing operating the levers and switchboard, but was really only a little guy in the robot suit that was Spira.

That conclusion is logical :elmo:

I always kinda assumed that Jecht COULDN'T hold back, since the Aeon he'd been turned into kinda controlled him or whatever.

Reminds me of Krang from the Ninja Turtles xD

Well yes, normally the Final Aeon/Sin Alter-Ego was most likely in control, due to the influence that Yu Yevon had over the Final Aeon used to create Sin. Yu Yevon was infact inside Jecht now that he was used as the next Sin, therefore Jecht had to fight to keep his own sanity side while avoiding Yu Yevon's madness from poisoning him, which ultimately failed since Yu Yevon retakes full control during the Final Boss fight.

If you watch closely, when Jecht has his overdrive charged, if you use the talk option you can discharge Jechth's overdrive, which makes Jecht show signs of struggling for control. Though, Yu Yevon's will is far greater, and thus Jecht ends up being fully manipulated by Yu Yevon to destroy Tidus and his party. It is the same effect with the Dark Aeon battle afterward, the Aeons become victims of a desperate Yevon looking for a powerful host, but since the chain of the Final Summoning was broken, Yevon had not Final Aeon to control leaving him vulnerable. The aeon were strong, but they and Yuna lacked the will and skill to resist Yevon's influence, thus them being easily surrendered to Yevon's control. The reason why Yevon could not be killed until Yuna's aeons were slain it's because he could shield himself with their essences, and also because their presence strengthen him. The consecutive Dark Aeons defeats were a strain too great for Yu Yevon's consciousness, having his invincibility shattered and thus making him vulnerable.

With all that, we have enough excuses to demand Square Enix to fix Yu Yevon and make him a better character design :mad2:

Yeah! Krang! That's who I was thinking of, I just couldn't put a name on the example.

Maybe if there is ever a final Final Fantasy and they do something epic with FFX and bring it back without making it lame, they could hear our complaints and fix Yu Yevon. :P

hahaha change the colour and it's sooooo him xD oh that made me lol

Yes :wacky:

And they're both about as stupid as each other, Krang was dumb for placing trust in Rocksteady and Bebop and Yu Yevon was stupid enough to cast Auto-Life

NO!

I do NOT feel robbed of a potentially difficult battle or whatever. Don't get me wrong, I love a good battle where you can strut you're stuff.I think it was easy and they gave you Auto-Life because they wanted it to be. You KNOW if they wanted it to be hard, they would have made it hard. The storyline is SO GOOD, I think they just wanted you to be able to relax after fighting Jecht so that you could cry and feel sorry for the Aeons and stuff.

yeah well wanting you to relax for the sad part or not, the ending battle still sucked, that is the one thing i hate about that game the final battle, isn't the FINAL battle supposed to show how strong you have gotten at the end? so why make it so damn easy, that whole auto life thing, don't get me wrong it was cool, but i didn't like it as a means of a challenge

I would have added a special scene after defeating the aeons of their spirits merging and forming an almighty and powerful Yu Yevon. Of course, I would have granted the option to save and full restore your party then.:neomon:

I think of the Yu Yevon boss battle as a stain on a great, great game.

It was truly disappointing and frankly patronising to be granted infinite Auto-Life to fight a bug.

I would have been more satisfied with Seymour as the final boss. I mean he was the ultimate villain who pestered you throughout the entire game...he made all of the sneaky political moves, corrupted the government, caused you all kinds of hassle, and then...Yu Yevon is the final boss? ;)

Well actually yes, but seeing that Seymour was not the source of Spira's destruction, only a pawn who wanted to prolong it, he was not used as a final boss. He somehow played the same role as Seifer did in FFVIII. I admit he is a great character, and it's cool when you have Anima and he reacts to the summon.

Yu Yevon, like it or not, is the origin of SIN itself, a man who lost his mind because his mind couldn't resist the mental effort that the summoning took on him. He is summoning Dream Zanarkand and SIN at the same time, even if he is using the "Faiths" at Mt. Gagazet.
