FFX-2 YRL or YRP

Lulu never really was a physical type character. In FFX when the whole crew jumped off the Airship to slide down the rails for Bevelle, Kimahri was carrying Lulu, or even when the Al-behd took Yuna to their ship and Kimahri, Tidus and Lulu had to jump to get over to them, It does not show her jumping in the FMV scene. =/.

So, therefore I could not see a character such as Lulu in FFx-2. She was older than Rikku and Yuna as well and Paine is like a younger and a tad bit more vibrant than Lulu was. =p. So, I say YRP was a better fit than YRL.

One would think YRL would actually be YRL and W... I mean, do we really think Wakka would have simply stayed behind while the woman he loves is off facing who-knows-what?

Anyway... YRP. The game was so great partly because of the dynamic of those three girls, so changing that would drastically alter the game itself.

I think that they just added Paine to give the story a little bit more dimension, since a large amount of appeal of the FF franchise is new characters in every game and a new story in every game. They may have taken this into consideration and thus added Paine, while throwing in Lulu being pregnant and such to explain why she wasn't part of it.

Of course, this is just all my opinion on the situation. As for me, I liked Paine. She was a powerful warrior when you worked on her stats a bit. :awesome:

It kinda bothers me when people decide things could've been better with 'different' characters in an 'original' group. :gasp:

So if anything I'm already against YRL, I have nothing against Lulu, she's a babe, but... Yuna, Rikku, and Paine makes more sense in my opinion.

I thought Paine was the coolest, -not into X or X-2- so as far as I've gotten, I liked her best. She complimented their little group well. Lulu seemed like she was just settling down, also she wasn't near their ages. :hmmm:

She'd be a mother of their crazy group, not a member, in my opinion. :hmmm:

I wasn't saying it could've been better for me, I was saying for the masses. It seems like alot of people complain about the game not being mature enough. I was saying that Lulu would have added maturity to the group, therefore the game. I liked Paine okay, but I would've prefered Lulu. It would have made the game "heavier", IMO.

But of course, I have no clue if it would have been better.

But to be honest, Paine does have a lot of backstory in this game. I mean we learn that she was involved with Nooj and Baralai, that they used to be a team and all that before they went their separate ways. I'm not going to reveal a whole lot in this particular thread on Paine, but I like that a new character was brought into the mix. As Colours stated, she compliments the group better than what Lulu would. Lulu wouldn't condone a lot of what was going on when it came to the Gullwings.

Not to mention if I'm not mistaken something was mentioned in the game at one point about Lulu not being there made Yuna able to spread her wings more. I really don't think it would've been better for the masses. I think plenty of people, the ones that enjoyed the game, are satisfied with Paine and she fit in nicely. She didn't feel like a character that was just randomly thrown in IMO. I don't understand though what you mean by Lulu making the game 'heavier'...o_O

I mean exactly what you're saying. Lulu would have made the overall tone of the game heavier because she wouldn't have put up with the craziness. Of course, I liked ff 10-2 a lot as is, but I wondered if anyone who didn't would like it better if Lulu had been there instead.

The largest complaint I've heard about the game is that it wasn't "heavy" enough or that it was immature.

they added pain because lulu was back at besaid island watching her kid with wakka, plus lulu is kinda old to team up with rikku and yuna!
gezz people its a continuation of X dont judge pain, shes awsome and if you ask me we need a new FF person!

Lulu hadn't had a child when FF10-2 opened, she was pregnant, so it's unlikely that she was watching her kid then. I'm not attacking Paine, just pointing out that she's a copy of Lulu, except with a sword. I liked Paine, but found her to be inferior to Lulu. Still, I understand that Lu wouldn't want to go off exploring pregnant.

I agree completely with the first part. And if they had included Lulu rather than Paine then the whole Den of Woe and Nooj/Baralai/Gippal storyline would have made no sense at all and would have been insignificant and possibly left out making the game even less enjoyable than it already was.
