Your thoughts on Sephiroth

Ex-Death Kills Galuf in FF5.

Killing a main character isn't a new thing :O

Compare Sephiroth to Kefka and then you have a losing battle there imo.

Ummmm....

:O Wow... Zidank...What you say make's a truck load of sense!!:) I think alot of what you said is what made him a damn good villian in the end!! He could have so easily turned around and been a good guy but being exposed to the truth of his creation! Being created as nothing more but a weapon for Shinra's use he decided to turn on the weilder and then against everything that stood against him and the only thing that he saw as having any real connection to him, his "Mother". But on a more lighter note...HE WAS CUTE!!!! :P So bad guy or not, still my fave character!! YUMMY SEPHY YUMMY!!!;)

Merow!!

THE POWER!!! THE POWER!!!:D Yeppers!!! Do you think things would have been diffrent for him if Lucrecia would have stayed in the picture????? I would like to think so...having a corpsie mother can drive alot of people nutso especially if she talks to you in your head....ewwww...mildew momma dearest...hahahahhahahaha...;)

I'm afraid Gafgarion and Algus are far better villains than Sephiroth could ever hope to be.

Gafgarion, maybe, but Algus?! I love FFT as much as the next member, but... he was out of the game after "that incident!"

Anyway, it's hard for me to write about Sephiroth without any bias, because (like I keep saying over and over) FF7 was my first RPG, so Sephiroth was my first RPG villain. I thought the dynamic between Sephiroth and Jenova was what made him so interesting. The game always kept me guessing: who's the real villain here? Is it Sephiroth or Jenova? The duality is what makes Sephiroth so memorable. If the villain of FF7 had been "just Sephiroth" or "just Jenova," I probably wouldn't have cared that much. You can even see it in this topic, because it's been years and we're still having fun debating who was controlling whom.

On a side note, I didn't think Sephiroth looked that feminine in the game, especially looking at his portrait sketch in the menu when he's on your team for 12.7 seconds. Not ugly, but not girly, either.

Jenova...Sephiroth...

Don't you think they kinda looked alike? Despite the corpsie image of her I mean like the color of her hair and his not to mention the paleness of thier skin...or was that because she was well you know deadish and stuff?? He seemed to see alot of himself in her or he wouldn't have clung to her quite so much...ripping off her head and all...it threw me for a loop when Vincent said that Lucrecia was his real mother even though a dead evil person can't exactly have kids but for awhile there I actually thought he was made like those creepy monsters in the Materia Capsules in those Mako Reactors...

still sephiroth is a legend come on he set the limits for badies in all game im not particular of him but come on he has millions of badies wanting to be him

I don't know, I personally felt that Sephy was the best character in FFVII. He's not my favorite villain of all time, but he was my favorite character in that game.

He's a total badass. The ultimate villain. Think about it, he's normal at start. he kills the conglomerate you were trying to, kills one of the heroines and tries to annihilate the world.

*Sigh*

It's really sorta tragic... but most of the game was sad!! Killing Aeris though...in the end I think that's what really immortilized him in the Final Fantasy Series. Especially the whole blade in the back thing...*ouch* still he is cute! Wonder what was going through his head at the time though I mean she was an Ancient what he thought was his race right??? Did he group her in with those that betrayed his mother...or was it just cause she could call holy or was it just to get to Cloud?? In other words was it revenge, a smart way to block a move that could stop him or just a way to drive Cloud crazy so he'd give up the dark Materia??? Personally I thought it was the whole holy thing...but still....

ohhh!

^_^ True!! Wonder if in the very end of the game he was angry about holy kicking his Meteor's butt anyway!! Too bad I can't comfort him!! Poor Sephy Pooh!!!:P

..But he failed repeatedly didn't he? Kefka, achieved his goal - for one year he remained supreme ruler of the world. On a global scale, Seymour, Kefka, Kuja, Vayne did more damage ( earlier villains I have less knowledge of). Suppose we could include the ShinRa/Hojo too. Seymour inevitably caused war amongst the Guados and Ronso. Kefka caused a world decay. Vayne murdered his father to get to be Emperor, placed the blame on the senate, and had control over many states/countries, as the Empire had conquered places like Dalmasca, held influence in Bhujerba somewhat, Nalbina also. The world was pretty much theirs. Kuja, destroyed a place far bigger then Nibelheim, used Bahamut to destroy Alexander, had armies of Black Mages at his call. Though they all passed in the end, some achieved their goals - Kefka did for a period of time, and despite his impending death, Venat had told Vayne he had accomplished his goal of giving Humes their reigns in history back.

It could be argued that the after effect of what Sephiroth tried to do could also be a major global disaster, but AC never fully showed us if the Geostigma effected every single nation/town/city . Also, we had to have a sequel to tell us this. Other villains managed to show their animosity/destruction during the game. I always get the impression the Geostigma only affected people in Midgar, that's it :/

ShinRa and Hojo are bigger villains then Sephiroth. Look at what ShinRa did to many soldiers, and look what Hojo did to his own son. Sephiroth was messed up because of the experiments. Not exactly evil..but warped. Understandibly so. His views, we're justified. Why shouldn't he kill all humans? The real villains in VII were probably ShinRa and Hojo overall.

So he killed a heroine. Either because of direct/indirect actions, many more characters in games have died at the hands of villains. Even with ShinRa members dying left right and centre, ShinRa still lived on didn't they? They destroyed a weapon with the Junon Cannon!

Aha, must also mention Sin, potentially one of the strongest "villains" in FF. He caused so much destruction in his existence. However, a greater villain
was behind the strings of Sin. Yu Yevon right?

Hm..Jenova also was a more destructive villain then Sephiroth. She pretty much wiped out all the Cetra?

OK, I wish to know something here. Just what is so friggn' cool about the man? Here are my observations, and they do not add up to him being 'cool'.

1) He never fought the chars directly until the very end. Before that he always made Jenova fight you. What kind of man sicks his mother on his enemy's?

2)He's insane. We all know this, so lets not pussy-foot around it. He's cunningly insane, yes, but the point is he's not mentally stable. And you can't take an insane man seriously.

3)Yeah, sword was nice. But that's the extent of his coolness. He's just another long-haired pretty boy. It seems to me that saving the world means finding the right long-haired pretty boy and beating him up. I mean, what kind of 'cool' man walks around with waist-length hair? Certainly not a secure one.

4)He has major ego problems. He runs around with a shiny sharp piece of metal, clinging to mommy and out to destroy the world. He must be so depressed that he feels he has to destroy the world as well as him self in his suicide attempt.

5)Becoming a god thing is nothing new. (if you've ever read Dragonlance, you know what I'm talking about.)
(

this ring a bell?)

6) Consider this: In AC Loz (the really dumb, gay one) was the 'part' of sephiroth that was sephiroth's masculinity. Yeah. The one that cries, that calls people who insults his mama "You Meanie!!", the one that's thinking is limited to 'smashy!'. That's the one. The really gay one. What does that tell you about Sephiroth?

And this is the man that people claim is so cool? Crap, I must be missing something, because he sure doesn't seem that awesome to me. He made gave the bad guy image a twist, sure. But he doesn't deserve even an eighth of the credit that people give him. Sheesh.

OK, Just had to get that out there, and get it off my chest. Thank you and goodnight.

People stay on topic, I do not want to close this topic but if the spamming doesn't stop, I will. I don't hesitate to warn people who spam and I won't hesitate to ban people that do not follow forum rules.

ok u want to know what i think of sephiroth? u people should just jerk off and get it over with. ur fan boy obsession is frightenly gay! fuck sephiroth, fuck em up his ass.
Do not post anything like this again...

First and Last warning.

I first met Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts when he's a boss. I thought he was pretty cool but I didn't know alot about him. Then I got FFVII... And after what he did to Aeris you can't help but fear and hate him.
He's easily one of the best villians in a FF game IMO. I think S-E tried to recapture Sephiroth in FFX with Seymour.

omg i hate sefiroth he killed aeris and that is unforgivable no matter what even if he was crazy or wutever

I think Sephiroth was very weak minded. He had strong beliefs though, but he wasn't able to look beyond that. All he could really rely on was his physical strength.
