Hello the FF Forums Community! Glad to be a freshman here..I've read and jump about but I noticed that this forums specially is one where fans really state their likes and preference and people are respecting that and consistently being genuine and open..(And less Controversy!!) plus real FF fans who simply liked the games they placed out. So I'm glad to join the club! :)
Here's my first post since I see many have tackled and post very common threads such as "Favourite Character".."Which FF you first played..".."What about the gaming consoles in FF".."etc etc..

I'm still yield towards the old classics player [played IV to X] although V,VI and X are still currently playing on the go (VI now and setting high expectations thus far enjoyed it a lot) by use of emulators since I have budget...Time..work issues and other things in life I wanna do (my gaming consoles is also taken away by my relatives..+_+)

yeah so I recently looked up found out about the latest FFXV Looks good but in my opinion..currently feels like they are "unnatural" or "trying too hard" to make it amazing although the features are real captivating and excellent..well that is currently what I think that is the way I'll describe it...I wanted to try FFXIII too as it was quite captivating all the more when the PC version came out and thought of playing in since it pioneered something new to the table..but I heard people mentioned its too linear and lack liberties so I'm thinking twice currently..

Therefore, in my stand, as the fan of the old classics, that is what I thought of, of the recent or more modern-yield FF series.

some thinking questions;
So how would you describe it FF in future? maybe 5-10years from now would you still play FF? what is your envisioned FF game be like? In your imagination of a character or story plot? the game-play or the boundaries and restrictions you feel that FF produce shouldn't have in time to come?

Be blessed,
W.Envoy

P.S.
-Please avoid argument especially when another person mentions some restrictions maybe even crossovers and turning it into quotations that's realistically may cause offense and defense politics so rather instead let your imagination do the work!

-If yall mentioned crossovers, I played kingdom hearts 1 & 2 before but In my opinion, I enjoyed it but find it more like a mesh up cartoon to bring in a protagonist into a written book rather than a story-driven RPG FF as it used to be.

-Forgive me if someone else has posted a similar thread as this!

Have a dynamic discussion!

IMO, FF like FF IV-X already set to be the standard of FF within FF fans, so it is actually very hard for Square Enix to even make at least match the standard.

My expectation for FF actually just bring some good storyline, bring back the mid-medieval theme once again (don't overpush technologies very much). I can't say much about storyline, but i love when the story didn't get too slow or fast, and give much detail to each character to improve their character development.

For the artwork/animation, just do it like the FMV of FF IV remake, i realllllly LOVE that FMV. And please don't overtime the animation of each move too much, like summon for 1 minute @.@ Sprite fighting, i didn't really expect much from this, just do it like FF VII were enough for me.

Overall, i expect more gameplay and storyline more than art or animation. I really hope Square Enix can bring back the glory of FF at least one more time, and then just make FF end make another series. FF already over and have their glory. Let them rest in piece were the best.

I’d like another break from futuristic themes to an extent. We hadn’t really experienced an extreme futuristic setting until the FFXIII universe, and despite my issues with the games (I only played XIII and XIII-2), I was quite fond of some of the aesthetics of this futuristic world. The artificial life which was created to pass off as life was quite interesting as well. I think we could use a break from it now though.

I’m less willing for a return to medieval fantasy as well. We’ve had a lot of that, not only in the Final Fantasy series but in RPG games and action games in general. If a game is historically inspired there is perhaps an 80% chance that it will be based on the medieval period (although the term ‘medieval’ stretches over a very large chunk of history, covering multiple periods). I think it is time for them to try something different where the visual appearances of the cultures of the planets are concerned, and thematically speaking. FFX was perhaps FF’s biggest break away from the traditional RPG settings in that it was set in a tropical archipelago (resembling a merger of India and Pacific Ocean settings). A new experimental setting like this would be good.

I wouldn’t mind a nice story grounded on science-fiction and horror fiction again, a bit like FFVII. Jenova was an interesting and horrifying concept, and I loved the sci-fi references throughout the game.

However I would also really, really, love them to create a game themed on a different period than medieval, modern, or futuristic. Honestly they have not really touched the ancient world. I’ve said this in a few posts recently because it has been bouncing about in my mind lately.

In Final Fantasy the ancient world is drawn from for ruins and dungeons. If you are taken to an ancient temple or a collapsed civilisation you can almost expect to see a collapsed civilisation based on classical Greece and Rome. You may find ruined columns designed in one of the classical architectural orders. Or you might instead find a pyramid, like the Temple of the Ancients, and whilst the external face of the pyramid is perhaps Aztec or Incan, etc, once you enter your eyes are blasted with Egyptian-themed art. You might find places in these ancient sites with all walls standing, but they tend to be abandoned. Perhaps a mythical creature haunts them. Perhaps the ruins are sunken, or perhaps they are in a desert. They are very, very old, and that is their only point.

Sometimes mythological beasts are used for monsters, but these could equally be pulled from medieval bestiaries. Sometimes there are other classical mythological references. Sometimes there are parallels to actual historic moments in antiquity presented in FF games, but they tend to be given a medieval or futuristic coating. In short, the ancient world as a living and breathing period(s) of history is neglected.

We could experience a game set in a world which is themed on ancient Greece or Egypt, or Mesopotamia. There is much that could be done there. But then what will people have for ancient dungeons? Put something older in! If we look at our own world it seems that the pyramids of Giza were already over two thousand years old when Greece entered into its ‘classical’ period! The term antiquity, like the term medieval, covers a very, very large amount of time. Plus, creating a fictional RPG world, they could do whatever they wanted to. I just think that people are reluctant to base a fictional culture on an ancient one because people associate the ancient world with dead cultures and dungeons to explore for relics or hunting to kill a slumbering horror. A suggestion of a lost deep antiquity is as far as it goes, but we do not tend to see an ancient setting which is still alive.

I’d be surprised if I saw this though. It’s just the way the genre is.

As for gameplay… I’d like more freedom for exploration again (or the illusion of exploration). We used to get world maps and airships. We have been lacking these things recently, and it has been a great pity. I guess it has been found that if the graphics are too realistic it makes it difficult to create a traversable scaled down world map which can be taken seriously.

I’d also like a good selection of mini-games, so long as they are actually fun. The Gold Saucer in FFVII was an amazing thing. Subsequent attempts to do something similar haven’t been as enjoyable (for me). Here is hoping that FFXIV’s Gold Saucer is fun.

I’d also love a good mixture of a serious, well thought-out story, with suitable (not forced) comic moments. I want a decent ride of emotions, and one that keeps me interested in the characters and the world which they live in. I have experienced this in a good number of FF games in the past. I hope to experience it again in the future.

My expectations for future ff titles would be a game where you can play as all the secondary and tertiary characters from every ff game and you can have six on a team at once with the same system as ff10 where you can switch any character in during the fight to get experience and also has every summoning and each person can have 2 to 3 summonings. Also, another game where you can play the storyline with villains being one step up from dissidia.
