I saw a thread that I thought was asking who your favorite FF female character is, thinking, "YES! GIRL POWER!" ...But then it turned out to be for FF12 only... -_- So I thought, hey? Why not out of the whole FF series? And why not pick your favorite male character of FF, too? So, yeah. And why.

Here's mine:

1. Male: Cloud Strife

I've said this so many times, but it's because he's the most human hero I've ever met. He has his weaknesses, doesn't deny it, and then fights against them using his strengths. And I can also relate to him in some ways.

2. Female: Aeris (Lol, sorry, I know - FF couple, much? xD)

Honestly I never thought of a favorite FF heroine (probably because the main hero is always a guy)...I tend to like the strong "woman warrior" type of lead, so I guess that's why I didn't pick FFXversionYuna, though I liked her character. I feel like if I had played FF6, I may have said Terra, from what I hear of her. Not Lightning because she...and Tifa was the girl who popped up the first time, but I have no clue why. I guess cz I always have her in my FF7 party and we were just talking about Cloud.

Anywho, I always admired Aeris, now that I had to think about this. She was a lady, but in a firm, witty, smart, and secretive way. Yet she kept her femininity throughout. I found her to be unique, the "light" of FF7, and...yeah. I just thought/think her story and character were nice and I liked it.

Male: Zidane Tribal

Probably his quote is what first hooked me on him. Not needing a reason to help people is a motto that most people want to live by, including myself. Zidane really inspires you to be an open-minded person that will try to give anyone a chance at friendship even if they are misunderstood as a person. He appears laid back but he also has his own personal turmoil locked inside. I think that speaks volumes for a lot of us. He's really a relateable character for me, so I guess I kinda fell in love haha.

Female: Tifa Lockhart
Brains and beauty, not to mention strength. She's really motherly and kind, which gives off this aura of strong family values (which she does have). I really enjoy how selfless she is as a character and willing to put her own feelings aside when it comes to others. Her devotions to her very closest friends like Cloud and Aerith are inspirations. She's really just a remarkable lady.

Cloud & Aerith.

They are both really unique and great. I can't lie, their chemistry together is just fantastic. Their backstories are both refreshing and heart-wrenching. Like another member said, Cloud is very "human" (as weird as that might sound) he's failed, he's got doubts and fears, and he came from a terrible past and yet he became this hero. Aerith is selfless and loving, and that is a rare quality in video game characters. She was truly optimistic despite her terrible life... which is amiable and a virtue that I wish I could possess.

I could say more but I run the Cloud, Aerith, and Clerith club and I'd be saying what I already have for the gazillionth time.

Male- Setzer FF VI

This may seem like a odd pick but I've really gotten attached to this scarred-faced and wild Gambler. I feel empathy for him by his past and loosing Daryl and his terms with coping by becoming a rough alcoholic that enjoys to Gamble. However he is quite intelligent and stops becoming a mess and realize that he shouldn't be taking such dangerous risks all the time and become more real and instead of being depressed over loosing his lover; he should instead remember the good times that they had and he begins to feel that Daryl changed his life for the better which is sweet.

Female- Aeris

Aeris the best because she's a sweet and innocent girl so she would be like naive and a complete air-head and not all that on planet earth right ? Wrong. Wrong. Well till Crisis Core and Advent Children destroyed her personality anyways.

She used to be a tough, mentally strong chick that despite feeling a bit depressed over loosing her past boyfriend Zack and living in the slums and having Tseng and the Turks spy on her like every second like creepy stalkers she's bright, cheerful and can defend herself most of the time when selling flowers in dangerous areas.

Aerith in Crisis Core was scared of the SKY. The Final Fantasy VII Aeris warned Don Corneo that she would rip off his balls if he didn't tell her what Shrina was planning to do.

Aerith even though she had a shit and crappy life was happy, carefree, kind, flirty and even sometimes cheeky. She felt like a real women and that's why she had a huge impact on people when she died.

ugh I can't stand Crisis Core for what they did to her character.

I just love him, he's my favourite out of any of the games actually, male or female. I think it's how real and relate-able I find him. He starts out like a very ordinary boy, the type of spoilt rich kid who grew up in a world very much like ours and never really had to worry about anyone but himself. But over the course of the game you come to see his sparkly famous lifestyle came at a hefty price, that his fathers image is forever hanging over his head, and that his family life really had never been great.

Really, it's his development that makes me love him so much. He comes so far. The boy from the beginning of the game never would have chosen to die for people and a world that are not his own. His reactions and his revelations through the story are very understandable to me. He doesn't start out as a hero at all, he's just a regular guy who's put in a position where he has to make things work for him and along the way he grows and becomes that hero.

People say he's a crybaby, but really, when does he cry about things that any normal person wouldn't cry at? I don't think strength is hiding your emotions or pretending you don't care, I think real strength is acknowledging when something hurts and moving past it anyway. To keep going even when you know there's no hope for you, that takes real strength.

Female? Not so easy to chose. I'll probably go with....errrm Rinoa.

It was a hard decision for sure. It was a toss up between her or Garnet but I went for Rinoa because she's a lot like me and I can really relate to her. I love that while a lot of people talk the talk about what they want to change, she actually tries to do something about it. Is she that successful? Not really. Is she that strong or smart? No she's not. But she's very real. She's just a young girl who sees injustice and wants to fight for what she believes in.

Does she have her faults? Sure she does, she can be fairly immature at times, but I always feel like her heart's in the right place, and if one thing can be said about FFVIII it's that the characters really act their age. It's normal for Rinoa to be a bit immature sometimes, to make bad decisions. But I love that she tries when others wouldn't. Despite not being trained or fully prepared for the things she encounters, she doesn't shy away or let someone else do all the work for her, she wants to help, she wants to be doing something good, instead of sitting at home under the safety of her military father's protection. Cloud- He's got spikey blonde hair and a huge freakin sword. Very down to earth guy besides the whole crazy bit. One of his first lines in the game when asked about his intentions are, "I don't care about the planet I just care about finishing this job before the robo-guards come." While not a heroic thing to say, it's real. And yet, as the journey progresses, you see Cloud slowly change into the hero you know he is.

Aerith- This was a really hard decision for me between Tifa and Aerith. Both are great characters. Aerith is a little more forward which I really like in a girl but Tifa is just plain hot. She is also nice but honestly she seems to just step aside when Aeris comes into the picture.
