I used to think like that too. If everyone gave someone a pound/dollar/euro/dinar they'd be super rich. But no-one would ever give it as then they'd obviously want a pound too, and then soon the whole country (assuming for simplicity it is just within the country) will essentially just be swapping pounds.

You know, now that think about it, my friend Lisa needed gas money, and she charged a dollar a hug, and by the end of the day, she had one full jar. I was jealous. So, you could try that.
