I know, it might be blasphemous to post this MMORPG on here (I think there's a lot of divide between this game and FFXI players, correct me if I'm wrong).

I was just wondering if anyone has a good server-suggestion for me. I'm getting back into the game and am looking for somewhere to go - I'm open to either faction, PVP or PVE,

We'll see where this goes! Sorry if I offended anyone :P

I cant play WOW due to the fact that I cant pay the fee ever month or even the subscription fee for three months or six months

Join the Horde side of Cho'Gall!!! ^-^)b
Whisper Atomos or Foxdie if you see me on :D
(Former FFXI player for two years, both are great games.) <3

Is that a horde in this game, or World of Warcraft. And is there a benefit to joining that particular group

Well some of them are "safer" for Newbies. Since you won't have the enemy attack you while in low level very often in some of them. I get to see the expansion today. ^-^ I'm can't wait to see the Blood Elves. :D

Blood Elves rock! Love my pally ^^ (Not to mention racking up the blue exp on my Hunter :D)

I looked in books I have of WOW and it doesn't look too bad at all.
However, one of my friends play it and that is all he talks about. It
bugs the living crap out of me, he has no life. I'd play it, however
that fee would kick my ass every two months. Since I have no money.

It's understandable for those that don't have to work to not have the money, believe me, you're not missing much. Not to say that it isn't the most fun MMO I've ever played, but yeah when you're playing an open ended game with literally endless stuff to do, yeah you do talk about it a lot, and even research and stuff when not playing.... lol.

it is pretty much the most addictive MMO around... because of the endless choises PvE, RP, PvP everything is possible...

the only problem is leet kiddies, these are the people that think they're cool and they are the gods in this game, usually these play "Night Elf Hunters" or "Undead Rogues"
for some reason i usually get into trouble with that combination of race/class

anyhow...

usually the "Horde faction" is the most mature, but they have their downsides too...

now the Blood Elves joined the horde they're attracting a lot of the former Night Elf hunters... but next to that it's still a mature faction

a server to join for PvE i would suggest Bronzebeard, being in the same battlegroup as them(i'm on Khadgar) i have found out these are very nice people, i would really suggest not to go on Khadgar btw, the retard factor is very high on the alliance faction, and the horde has their portion too

as for an RP PvE realm, moonglade, very very mature people also in the same battlegroup as mine

for PvP, i can't tell a good server for this group, since most of the PvP servers in my battlegroup is full of people who think they're superiour to us "PvE noobs" and think we shouldn't enter in the battleground... so i'm not really fond of them, but i think Emeriss would be the best choice...
however, it is fun to kick those "PvP pro's" their ass when coming from a PvE server...

additionally, there is indeed quite an annoyance between the FFXI and WoW players, because these used to be direct competitors in the "battle" for the best MMO for that time... which WoW OFFICIALLY won when it came to size... not saying it IS like that, there is always a SUBJECTIVE opinion, and that's what counts, YOUR opinion, but that aside...

EDIT: if you have questions you can ask them in this thread, i'll usually check it, i'm an experienced WoW player
i will not tell any answers on what to do on quests of course...

Additional Edit: don't worry about posting about WoW:" Gold Saucer
Discussion of your favorite gaming console, or perhaps a game from your favorite console. Discussion for games not related to Final Fantasy are encouraged."
apperantly they prefer you talk about WoW here instead of Final Fantasy(and ofc other games) so it's not so bad you talk about it

Hehe, speaking of saying stuff about PvE'ers, I mentioned you being a carebear in another thread, take it in jest. I'm all for those playing the game how they want to, I just find it more entertaining when I have that hair on the back of my neck feeling while leveling...

"...WHAT WAS THAT BEHIND THE TREE?!!?"
Hunter friend: "A moose."
"Oh... good or bad moose?"
"Shut up."

=P
I think the Cho'Gall PvP server is well balanced, we have the people that gank, which is understandable. Hell, I gank now and then with my Hunter, it's fun! But I don't camp. That is just rude and unnecessary. When the cavalry arrives, we have some world PvP fun, then go about our ways, just some fun randomness. =)

i prefer the PvP for when i feel like it, it isn't really awesome if you're solo'ing a certain elite mob(being a feral druid i have solo'd many random elites for quests which need a full party to kill)
and when the mob is at like 5% suddenly a mage jumps you with a PoM+Pyro and instantly kills you with 1-hit when you were trying to kill that elite...

luckily for me a mage hasn't even managed to 1-hit me in battlegrounds, i've always carried a high amount of stamina, considering i'm usually the tank

but anyway, i prefer having the open-world PvP in certain events instead of when i'm farming mobs or solo'ing elites

and... i'm the bear that cares
being a bear druid

It's understandable, but in all actuality even on the most laden PvP servers, you really don't run in to the opposite faction that much. Whenever I have agenda, I'm usually all by my lonesome, unless with fellow horde. In fact, a lot of the time we run in to allies, if they have agenda in the area as well, we make peace, and go along our way. If the sh-t hits the fan, hey, can't blame em, just rez and continue. If they camp, that's a different story, that's when the main and friends come out... haha.

Is it that great, I mean WoW?

it depends on personal preference, i'd say yes

the fun is unending, the only problem is the grinding and farming, but that's over in the expansion

even at maximum level you can do unending things, it never stops

and even if you're full guild is fully geared in the best gear possible and there aren't many challenges anymore, it's only a matter of time untill you can start all over again, but then with much harder encounters and much better gear to collect, and collecting this gear usually takes months of doing raiding instances, but don't worry about it all becoming boring, it won't because of the randomness at times

however, that's from a PvE(player versus enviorment) point of view

from a PvP(player versus player) i'd actually say when you got the gear, it stops... the game is actually designed to benefit people who like PvE more then PvP, when it comes to instancing(PvE = dungeons, PvP = battlegrounds)

the most powerful gear is then also only gainable through running dungeons and raid dungeons

raids are groups with 25 people who go into a dungeons and fight monsters there, normal dungeons only have 5 people max
there are also 10 man raids, but those are usually not common in instancing

you also have PvP raids, these are groups of 40 to 200 people who attack a city or outpost from the opposing faction(horde or alliance) and pretty much take it over by killed all people and NPC's(non playable characters) and gain honor(the currency to buy PvP armor and weapons) by doing so, but these are usually only done on PvP servers
also if you raid a city with 200 people, this will be done with 5 different groups of 40 people as the grouping limit is 40 people

this is what is done in WoW, now you have a rough view about how it goes and you can make up by yourself wether it's great or not

Lol... so it's not cool for PvP'ers to poke fun at you, but you say the game ends for us once we're geared? Not even close. Number one, we have the same access to all the PvE content you have, and guess what, we like it too! After we're geared though, we can raid towns or just do the battlegrounds, arenas (as we both can) PvP is more than just ganking.

The one thing I dislike about WoW, is the social aspect. It's all but extinct until you're 60(+, now), as the grind is usually a mix of soloing and grouping with people not necessarily in your guild to get to 60(+) as fast as possible. The society in FFXI was forced upon you, but it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I still prefer WoW to FFXI, as it's just more fast paced, and enjoyable.

to your information, i was talking about people who only play PvP and hate PvE, not people on PvP servers... it's a totally different thing, myself i've been a PvP'er for 4-5 months in advance for TBC, i haven't done any raiding since then, with my druid

eventhough i did more PvE in alterac Valley then PvP... i usually tanked the lieutenants and the general...
druids as tanks, it works!
anyway... you misunderstood my point, once you reach rank 14(old pvp system) and have all the gear, it pretty much ends, the challenge is gone... all you can do is wtfpwn all those undergeared noobs with your awesome gear... and what challenge is there in that?

oh well... guess there is a challenge... considering how many rank 13 geared people i have killed in BG's with my blue pvp set...

I've heard so much about this game and am really curious as to why it is so popular. o_O I checked their website and all...erm, I didn't find anything special, I guess. I suppose I'd have to try it out in order to see for myself, huh? Perhaps I will...in the near future. =)

It's so seemless, the game just flows. It's hard to explain, but if you play other MMOs, you just don't feel it, in my opinion. I beta'ed Vanguard, and it was just horrible. Right out of EQ 6 years ago, with a little polish. No thanks. The only other game that made me feel like I was imursed in the game was FFXI, but sadly the grind of that game ends up killing it. (At least for me.)

Raptor: Yeah, druids tank fine. Even after getting a lot of my warlords gear (Rank 14, Horde version) on my hunter, I still enjoy PvP. I own the majority of the time, but R14 gear doesn't make you invincible, and the challenges is what makes it fun.
