Which do you prefer when watching DVD's? I personally love watching it in fullscreen. I know that widescreen allows you to see more of the picture, while fullscreen is more narrowed and you might not see everything. But still, the black bars on the top and bottom annoys the hell out of me. >_<

It depends on the movie. I have a super humongo Tv, so widescreen looks good on some movies. XD

Widescreen, not only does it allow for a fuller picture, but the black bar at the bottom is the perfect place to host subtitles/ captions.

Warm regards,

I hate it when captions are over the picture.
But I never use captions anyway..

What was widescreen made for anyway?

Nope, fullscreen doesn't let you see more, which is kinda odd. I suppose the whole picture doesn't fit the screen or something. So when you watch fullscreen, you're actually missing some parts in the left and right side. That is why some people prefer widescreen so they can see more.

Ohhhh here:

Widescreen, I always like to see my favorite movie as the director intended. As stated earlier, you sometimes loose a lot when the picture is reformatted into full screen.

At first glance I'd say Full Screen because instantly popping in a movie you notice the black boxs at the top and bottom. However, after a while you get so into the movie and all taht you don't focus on them and they become unimportant. Where I'd initially pick Full Screen, I think Wide-screen gives you better picture quality.

Which one do you prefer to watch movies, shows, and play games on? I prefer widescreen, especially when it comes to playing video games. I prefer having a widescreen monitor as well.

I don't know why but I can't play/watch anything on widescreen, I just configure it to 4:3 and that solves it.

It really doesn't matter to me, I enjoy both of them really. Widescreen used to bother me but after getting a widescreen LCD I'm not so bothered by it now. If I had to choose between two DVD's to buy, one widescreen or one fullscreen, I'd probably choose the widescreen.

Widescreen used to bother me too, but I got used to it. I still prefer full screen though, whether it be watching movies or playing video games.

I prefer Widescreen myself. In Fullscreen mode it cuts off a lot of what is going on in the side.

Fullscreen. In fact, I don't even remember what widescreen looks like since I haven't seen/watched/played anything with that setting as far as my memory goes.

I can't believe that this many people actually PREFER fullscreen...

You're basically saying "I'm not really interested in seeing the whole picture, just the parts that fit into my nice little box that I've invested in".

I just hope that you all don't take this sort of attitude towards life. The only difference between widescreen and fullscreen, with the exception of widescreen being a little less square, is the fact that fullscreen is missing pieces. I can understand not minding missing pieces, because, in fact, most, if not all, of what you are missing is generally not needed. But to prefer fullscreen, is nothing but stubborn mindedness and/or an unwillingness to change.

UNLESS (there's always an exception to the rule) you have a tiny ass TV/Monitor, in which case widescreen can become a little annoying by making your already tiny picture, that much smaller... well, not smaller... but smaller in the sense of scale. Yes.
