Playstation Wi-fi Obstacle: WPA

I have looked numerous times on how to find your WPA for high security routers (such as Linksys) to connect to the Wi-Fi for consoles like the PS systems, DS, etc. And I know what to do, but one of the steps states that I have to copy the IP address from the network settings to the internet address bar. But everytime I try. Nothing appears, except that it keeps saying that it can't open the page at the time. Wtf? It's supposed to show a username/password bar. But its not showing it to me. Anyone know how I can get passed this or do an alternative of entering the IP address?

Heh, I know many people who need assistance with it on PS3. Let me ask you one thing, do you have any other wireless devices that can be used as a control?

No, just the Linksys router. And I know I can get a Nintendo Wi-Fi adapter but I'm wondering if that would only work for my Wii and NDS but not my PSP.

I know in the Network Settings part, there is an option for something along the lines of "Internal Server Search", or something like that at the bottom of the list, and by default it's always set to Yes. This thing interferes with the connection and does disconnect you a lot when you're online (if you were able to get it to read, that is). Change that option to No and see if that helps.

Unfortunately, I'm at work, so I don't have my PS3 in front of me to be of better help, but I'd say give that a go for now and see if you have some success.

I'm looking through some of the setting options in the Network Sharing and Settings area but I can't seem to find an 'Internal Server Search' in the lists I manage to locate. Do you know a specific area I'm supposed to look for it?

I'm home now, so now I can see what exactly it was. It's called Media Server Connection, and it seems to interfere with internet connection at times when it's Enabled, so try Disabling that.

I'll put out my Internet Connection Settings, and maybe they'll work for you as well. Custom > Wireless > Scan > Scan should find your SSID > WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK > WPA Key > Automatic > Do Not Set > Automatic > Automatic > Do Not Use > Enable. Give that a whirl and see if that works. Best of luck!

Can you tell me where exactly do you look for that starting from the Network Connection and Sharing Center (the window that opens when you click the little computer icon at the bottom right of your screen)? I got totally lost yesterday.

I don't have a setting called Network Connection and Sharing Center. I do have the old, chunky, backwards compatible PS3, and it's possible that the names of my settings are different. I don't have a little computer icon either, unless my eyes are failing me.

To get to my network settings, I go to Settings > Network Settings (which has an icon that looks like a globe). From there, I have 5 options. Settings and Connection Status List, Internet Connection, Internet Connection Settings, Internet Connection Test and Media Server Connection (which is what I was talking about in the last post). And the step by step I gave you was in Internet Connection Settings (the middle option).
