:D why did they have to put FFXI online I mean i haven't played it all the way through because my friend has it but it the why did they online in the first place that just ruined the game altogether. what do you guys think.

Umm, i dont see how being able to play Final Fantasy with thousands of other people ruins it. You may have your reasons but i think it was a good idea to finaly have an online Final Fantasy. If it is unpopular it is the games fault not the online capability.

I haven't played it for the simple fact that I refuse to pay the outrageous monthly fees for the subscription. They are phenomenal, expecially for someone like me with low wages. I woudn't expect my parents to pay the fees either - the idea was terrible.

Recently, however, I realised it can be bought for the X-BOX 360. Unfortunately, I do not possess one of these. I believe these platforms are all the same, but the games for them are just getting more expensive.

It's all political

I havent played for 2 reasons
1)I will not pay for online
2)It need windows 2000 or higher and I have 98.

Personally, I like it alot. And no matter what you think about FFXI, you can NEVER say it's the worst FF game ever. May I remind you of FF:CC and FFTA?

I never played the, I heard a lot of bad reviews.

When Roxas said FFXI was the worst game that Square Enix made, maybe he meant that he hated it because of the online aspect? That is the point in the thread after all...

Hmm...from what I've seen 11 is pretty popular, especially if they made an expansion for the 360, and all the poeple I know who play it love it,... I think the online aspect is fun because you can go on quest with your friends and ramdom people help you a lot....

true...but you have to pay for a lot of mmorps...you have to pay for matience, quest updates, and a lot of other stuff...which I think is fair, but like everyone here I would personally never pay for that...

I do think it is a rip off...but that doesn't mean it sucks persay

I would never play a game that I would have to pay for monthly, but I know a crap load of people who do, and they love it xD

But, in some ways, some fans did not participate because of the online aspect. If it was released for PS2 or something, then maybe they would regain the fans they lost.

...If they wanted to bring fans together, they could just make a forum. I bet a forum would get twice as many fans.

That's true but they could of made it cheaper with more people playing instead of expensive and less people playing.

Yes but i think Square wanted to have a go at making a online game rather than bringing fans together.

Umm... FFXI was orrigionally made for the PS2, it was expanded to the PC and XBOX 360. And true you have to pay, but that is not only for maitnence and GMs(Think moderaters) they have to hire, but they have regular updates that add new items and quests. in addition to the expansions. Don't get me wrong, but I don't think you will see a new sword appear when you turn on FFIII one day.

Also, I think many people are turned away by FFXI's first impression, which I have to admit, is horrible. But the game itself, though slow-pased, has a more detailed and awe-inspiring storyline than any other FF game I've ever played.

Ya, I originally had it for PS2 then my PS2 died and I returned it. (Full refund! ^_^ ) Now I have it for PC with all the expansions and I love it. It's more of a friendly community, unlike WoW where everyone is a ********! As of right now I'm a lv19 monk/lv6 thief. I plan to become a beast master at lv30 monk. ^_^ Really, it's a fun game so it being online isn't bad. I actually enjoy playing Final Fantasy with my boyfriend! (he has it for X-Box 360) It's rather conveniant!

I've never seen it for PS2 - are you sure you have this information right?

Well, they didn't have to make it online - if they didn't, they wouldn't require to maintenance workers or GMs. In turn, we wouldn't need to pay extra money - the whole aspect of it is outrageous.

Nice to meet another player, Neko. What server are you on?

Yes, the information is right. The reason you may have not seen it on the PS2 is that Sony stoped supporting FFXI, so in turn SE stoped shiping FFXI to game stores, but you can still buy them from SE. And your missing the point, SE didn't need to make it online, but it's an added, GOOD feature. FFXI is my favorite game BECAUSE it's online, and it is worth the cost. If you don't feel that it's worth the cost, don't play.

Another thing I would like to add, is that FFXI is one of the biggest FF gams ever made. The world and date for it is HUGE, you would NEED a supercomputer with tons of extra upgrades to play it as a home, offline game. he money also goes to keeping the servers, which allow FFXI to be so big, to stay up. And online or not, a game this big needs alot of money to stay running.
