Why?!

Okay, so I'm generally speaking about the whole process of joining this community, establishing acquaintances, a network, making friends, or whatever. I think this would make for an interesting discussion that would help us get a little more insight as to why people stick around in such places. :monster:

Why did you join and how did you first feel?

Unfortunately in my case, I don't actually remember this all that much. I joined back in '06, when the place was (If I remember correctly) powered by Invision Free. I used to RP a lot back then, and was massively in to Final Fantasy, and I guess this place seemed pretty cool at the time. I don't really remember how I first felt on joining the forum, which I guess is kinda a shame. It was around the time I started moving from place to place a lot, so I don't even think I really got settled here. But after a few year's absence, it was kinda weird. I saw how much this place had grown (Most notably the move over to vB) but at the same time it didn't seem all that different to what I recall. So even though I didn't know anyone, I felt comfortable about having more of a part in this community.

I began talking with people, and it seemed easy enough to fit in and feel like I belong. I guess that was mostly down to the fact that I joined back in 2006 and people were all like "Ah, another veteran!" and immediately seemed mildly interested in my presence. :lew:

Why do you stick around?

This is a funny question, because I'm not even all that much interested in Final Fantasy anymore; nor am I an avid gamer. Sure, I do enjoy playing my 360 a couple of times per week, and I do keep my eyes out for news on any games coming out in the future that I'm interested in but, in the wider scheme of things, gaming really isn't that big a deal in my life anymore. I stick around mostly due to a fascination of the variety of people who post here. Such a wide range of different backgrounds, different opinions, different personalities, I find it very interesting how it all mixes together here.

What have you got out of spending time here?

Regaining my interest in graphics! While it's all well and good gleaning news and updates on certain games, etc. That sort of thing can be done by typing a couple of words in Google. But joining the GFX clans and taking part in Callouts and some of the Clan Challenges, has been a great competetive outlet, and it has helped me massively improve on what graphic skills I had.

So yeah... Give us more insight as to why you're here! :reptar:

well i was kind of douchey when i started using the internet

i was at another site and they got tired of my shit, some of the guys there knew josh (and i guess thought that my level of faggotry rivaled his own) and genuinely believed that i would have more fun here, so they banned me and directed me to FFF :wacky:

i know, amazing story

i miss being young, so full of life and dramatic.

though i decided to stick around with the row row fight the aztec nazi mod powah movement. we'd talk on instant messengers or the shoutbox all the time and everyone knew everyone and we mostly got along pretty good.

why do i keep coming back?

well i guess because i know a lot of the people here and FFF is really the only internet community i consider myself to be affiliated with. it had a significant part in my life. sometimes i wonder how you guys are doing and just want to stop by and say hi.
