I was just thinking why did they make Dirge Of Cerberus a shooter because it would be such a better game if they made it like any other FF game.:vincent:

I think SE largely tries to experiment more in their spinoffs: Crisis Core, Dissidia, FFtactics and DoC all tried new things. So I think they were just trying something new and since it was a relatively small scale game there was less pressure to succeed.

Also I disagree that it would have been better if it was like every other FF game. I think it is important for SE to try new things. This is one of the reasons why I'm glad that XIII appears to have a drastically different battle system to previous FF games.

But to answer your question. I think SE just wanted to experiment and expand their horizons. SE aren't necessarily well known for shooters and I think they wanted to test how well they could make them.

They wanted to expand and try out other things.

The believed that everyone loved Vincent. Vincent had a gun. Their eyes flashed with images of Yen symbols and then they all decided that they should make a brand new game based on the fact that he has a gun. So they decided to make a shooter.

Not sure if I would have enjoyed it much being a normal RPG. The character development and plot etc wasn't detailed enough and suited the style of a shooter more. And I did find it fun to run around and shoot things for a little while as Vincent, and to sneak around as Cait Sith.

I don't think SE do games just like any other FF game anymore. They tend to even make the RPG's completely different now (e.g Crisis Core).

I think that shooter was the only way for them to go...I mean....It's not like Vincent would magically loose his gun and take up swordsmanship....Compared to the other Final Fantasy games, wielding a gun was fun and fresh and quite honestly, I felt badass! xD
