Seriously in my opinion, the mainstream rpg field lacks a significant amount of class system titles. Class systems add definition and personality to the customization element. So who agrees and who disagrees? Please remember we are talking about RPGs, not Tactical RPGs. Anyway vote away!:)
Edit-if you plan on voting here please post your reasons as well.

This seems more suited in Rocket Town, so I'll move there for ya'. ;)

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing more RPGs utilize a class system. I wouldn't be opposed to never seeing another RPG with a class system.

So I guess that makes me neutral. I'm more concerned that an RPG have an engaging plot, interesting characters, and a well-rounded battle system.

For plot I don't really care as long as its decent and slightly orignal. Though I believe customization impacts the battle system alot.

Hmm, we don't really have a general RPG forum, no. Rocket Town is really a general gaming discussion thread though, so this is fine. =]

And honestly, I don't really care either way. Sure it adds more customization, but when playing RPG games, that's actually the least thing on my mind for some reason. I mean I'll go check and experiment the classes one by one, trying to find the best ones for my characters (and personal taste), but overall, it's not a big thing to me. As Von, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of seeing more RPGs utilize a class system though, that's for sure. I'm just more focused on the characters, storyline, and plot. :D

I think it kind of depends on the game. Certain games (& the settings within said games) fit well with a Job Class System, while others need the benefit of specified character roles in battle...I think that the ratio of games that have them is good enough, though, personally...

If you want a Job Class System, it really behooves you to go for a SRPG, which the majority of do use Job Class Systems of some kind...

Thats exactly what pisses me off:(! The fact that in order to get a class system I HAVE to play to SRPG instead of regular RPG. While I like SRPGs, I really think more mainstream rpgs should take advantage of one aswell

I didn't say you had to play SRPGs...it's just that it makes sense for SRPGs to have them...MMOs & western-style RPGs in general, I believe, also make regular use of a Job Class System. I think Job Systems require more thought & fine-tuning for the developers and thus we don't get as many standard RPGs with them.

I voted yes, mostly I have always loved the class/job system. I liked the fact your character could master one job then move right one to next one creating a powerhouse character. But I also do agree I wouldnt want the job/class system to hurt the story.

Western RPGs and MMOs *shivers*. Sorry I need regular JPRGs.

I love Job/Class systems. It gives a sense of definition to your character/s and even sometimes personality if you decide to RP your character/s. I still hope for more RPGs with the Job/Class system.
