Who is Shuyin?

Ok so the game already established that Shuyin is from Zanarkand a thousand years ago, and that he was killed during the machina war.
But they never explained why the heck he looked like Tidus! That annoyed me cause there has to be a reason right? He can't come from the same place, during the same time period, and look exactly like him for no reason!

Plus with the fact that Tidus wasn't really human when he was brought into the time set for final fantasy X. I was so pissed when they didn't even explain that!

Anyone have any theories? Or maybe even know the answer?

Yuna mistook him for her lost love, Tidus, due to their striking physical resemblances to one another, the resemblance is due to Tidus possibly being the dream fashioned after the real Zanarkand Blitzball player.

Shuyin's love story with Lenne reminds me Yuna and Tidus. But I have no idea why do they look alike. I know that Tidus is a dream. Maybe Shuyin is Tidus?

Shuyin is not Tidus, Lenne is reunited with Shuyin at the end and in the happy ending, Yuna is reunited with Tidus. Which really throws the original dream theory from the first agme out of the window.

Hah ha! Thanks everyone. I actually think that Tidus was created in the image of Shuyin. It makes perfect sense in my opinion!
