I am debating and pouring out thoughts... so noone has to agree with me ok ...actually everything you mention these two share:Auron : got wiser -> so it is Vincent...he had many years to ponder over his past and mistakes....and he definitelly does not come accross as some stupid little boy now does he...plus the role of Vincent in AD is of someone who gives advice to Cloud, this is crutial ...for there Cloud is a lost hurt unsecure boy, and it is Vincent who explains what is what.
Auron - middle aged and undead -> ...how old is Vincent ? he might look mid 20's but he is actually been in a coffin for about 30 years..that would make him over 50, as I said he is not a spring chicken
...and who on earth normal would sleep in a coffin; who are coffins for...what you associate with coffin is something dead imidiatelly, a corpse or something that does not fit into living natural world...now perhaps Vincent is not dead dead,..but he is definitelly unatural...he changes form....he is a monster, a shapeshifter....an experiment...which is even worse...thes are both cursed unatural men....Auron - long red robe right...lol
now Vincent wears -> red flowing cape. First they both wear red cape/robe for reason. It is a long red coat one way or another. It has to be different first of all cos then all characters would wear same set of clothes, but that is a cape /robe and it is red in both cases that is what matters.....colour red singifies many things, but the most common is an insignia of a status /rank warrior and which here we can go on futher and connect the weapons and war...while Auron uses large sword, Vincent uses guns...these are still weapons of a warrior. A warrior is a warrior no matter which weaponry in question. And in war you fight with what you got...besides Auron insignia and crest is Mars, and Mars is Roman god of war...and the colour of Mars in red...and I do not think I need to go on and spin in circles here.... Now back to red...and robes... and bandanas and eye-patches and quiet misterious heartbroken types...-> Like Kratos is painted red with a huge scar on his face, one obvious example.....tribal warriors wear red or are painted red, scarification is very common, though earned through battle though used and worn as a ornament. Red it is a colour of a blood, war and it is a colour of love, sex, birth/llife and menstruation. Vincents scream red in every way, so does Auron.... red bandana signifies the loss, wounds, hurt. Auron wears one hand in a sleave, his sword hand..very important to singnify the loss of the master, and his state of loss and mourning in general. Bandages or bandanas and expecially red ones are there to imidiatelly give you a picture of someone who fits that description so is that one empty sleave.
These characters are put together with very much thought...everything is calculated here....you sopoused to take one look at any of these characters, and imidiatelly be associated with certain things....at least I do. The charaters in FFX are very very calculated, everything they wear, their names, their celestial weapons, everything here is chosen with incredible thought of details in symbols. In FFVII some more then others....but still same thing. People who make these games sit hours and hours over these characters calculating every single detail.
Red long coats and capes also are associated with men of mistery, as the black ones are. But black capes more associate to evil. Red especially with characters who can change shape or are undead is more common. Shapeshifters...Vincent and Auron both cross the line between the normal and abnormal -> they are both about death and ressurrection. They are reborn, to new life, rewoken, ressurected. This were gold hand comes in too. Tidus also has a lot in common here, for he is a dream....these two were asleep...Auron was dead... state of death and dream is always is always connected in myths and stories. These guys are sleeping beauties of the FF world. Tidus wears gold as a colour of sun in his insignia and crest...why; for sun rises, sun is life. Also sun is connected with male symbol.....gold is the colour of resurrection, gold is a colour of a male . There is no coincidence here that Tidus is sun and Yuna is moon...... But so is red...as I said red signifies many things...red is a colour of life too, of a woman, of a birth, and yes the moon. Do not think I have to explain Vincent here now. Both characters are heartbroken and this is represented through colour, what they wear and how they wear it, in Vincent's case through his name too. Not to mention that red singifes someone who is ashamed of their past mistakes.....and boy do these two ponder over their past.
Auron is one-eyed and has a scar, but this is very interesting that he does not wear eye patch but sunglasses. Now sunglasses are associated with mistery. Also having one eye points out someone who was blind to something once...you lost an eye, you missed something, did not see something coming your way, or someone who has seen something he should not...lost an eye over it....now we all know that Auron, knows many things the rest of the company does not ...sunglasses further on besides mistery point out on someone who hides something, someone who has a secret..and Auron keeps his secret well through out of the game. Vincent is a secret character in the first place...he is a secret in his own right...and his hand is a scar in its own rights too.
...and I am gonna stop now, cos I can go on and start connecting other characters into this, already did threw in Tidus and Kratos and Yuna and before I go to the rest of the gaming FF world and some others...but think I covered what needed to be covered ...for I been typing this for ages...and I feel like I am writing an essay now
