I just finished FFV last night, and what a ride it was! I put some serious time into it, and enjoyed it in the process. At this point, I am asking everyone out there if you recommend any other given Final Fantasy game? I have parts 1-10 (aside from parts II and III), have completed parts I, IV and V, and am interested in playing some of the other ones. I have heard stories about how some of the games have weak characters or storyline, I haven't really dove deeply into the other Final Fantasy games. There are other games (not Final Fantasy related) I would like to play (I have quite a few), but I don't want to miss out on any of the fun that is Final Fantasy! But yeah, I have a bunch of other non-Final Fantasy games I want to play (I have games I would love to buy and play, but I wanted to get as much out of the games I currently game before buying any new ones). Anyway, I have to cut this message short, I just wanted to ask everyone out there if they can recommend any of the other Final Fantasy games, or in turn ones that were a little weak. Please get back to me when you have a moment, I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks so much!

If you enjoyed V then I'd actually recommend III, especially if you can get your hands on the DS remake from a few years back. Granted, it's not the most story intensive entry - though the DS version worked on that a bit - but it does have a job system much like V so you'll likely find it very engaging and fun on a gameplay level.

Now, as to what games I'd recommend just in general? Going somewhat specifically for story and character development driven games here... Hmm.. Well, VI is an absolute masterpiece, and since you're already playing the classics it would make an absolutely wonderful next choice. You'll also want to play VII at some point because, well, it's FFVII. It's one of those things. Between the two I kind of feel like you'll be seeing one of the more noticeable peaks in the series, actually, so either way you should give them both a look eventually.
