So, in the FF franchise we have all these places that have some of the hardest names to remember and what the place even looked like.

What I wanna know is what FF game gave you the most trouble in remembering the names of the areas? What was the hardest place that you had trouble with?

FFVI. As I progress through the game I know where I'm supposed to go but I forget how to get there.

I sure have a hard time pronouncing some of those towns.

Ya im going to agree with doomsickle, FFVI was really hard to remember where to go for me, like it would tell me to go back to the starting place when im all the way across the map :gasp:, wasn't that hard though once i got Setzer's airship :awesome:

Oh god for names mine would be FFXII. The espers were hard to remember and the places too. lol. The travel was a bitch. I still get lost. lol.

Lemme see.... the only esper i cant remember from XII is the one down in the garamsythe waterway, most of the places are kinda easy for me to remember because i played XII for like 1 week straight with only bathroom and eating breaks. >.>

Hmm... Well to this day I can't remember a single name of a town in FFV. xD
But that may just be because I haven't played it in ages.

I dunno, I think almost every FF game has at least one town that's hard to remember, except maybe FFX because it's all there on a list in the airship. :D

I didn't have too much trouble near the middle / end of the game, but when I start each game, pretty much EVERY FF game LOL. especially when i was trying to get my GF DoomTrain. I was walking all over the damn place tryna figure out where to get him. And that place where U get teh Magnus Sisters in X. I think I found that the 2nd time through.

Lol. FFXII had an airship list as well. I still have a hard time remembering the names of the places and I STILL get lost in some areas. XII is just way to big for me sometimes.

FFXII.
First of all, if it weren't for voice actors I wouldn't have a clue how to pronounce any of those towns and places, period. Second, they don't remind me of anything from the "real world". In older Final Fantasy's there were at least towns like "Mist" and "Midgar". Those are easy. FFXII has towns like Bujarba (I'm sure that is misspelled) and Ogir-Yensa.
As for those waterways in FFXII, I couldn't even list one.

Said everything I was going to say. Some of the names were such a stretch. I can honestly admit that I'd be pretty screwed without the voice actors spouting them out (even then, they still appeared awkward).

And while certain places like Rabanastre stood out for its futuristic features, a lot of places, in turn, were somehow forgettable to me. Perhaps because the variety just wasn't there. There didn't seem any real difference in cultures, such as you had with earlier games. So there wasn't a whole lot to define each place by.

I personally have trouble pronouncing certain place names in the pre-FFX games rather than forgetting names. Some offenders:

Veldt in VI
Gizamaluke Grotto in IX
Daguerreo in IX (is it something like dag-eu-re-o?) This name is the one I can never remember or find.
Iifa Tree in IX. I once called it the Lifa Tree.

Come to think of it, Final Fantasy IX was the worst offender for me. I had trouble trying to find places on the Mist continent by airships because (before Memoria), some places were either below the mist, or above it. The mist was a terrible idea.
