Here is one for us, which of all the square-soft/square-enix games did you all enjoy the most and why. for me final fantasy 7, not because this is a final fantasy forum but in general because i feel that the story line was the best, graphics needed a tweak but all in all was a great game. my second favorite was final fantasy 9 but my third is parasite eve 2.

Within the Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy IX. It had the most interesting characters to me, the best storyline, an enjoyable battle system, the design was top notch and I personally feel that the concept design was the most intriguing out of any Final Fantasy title to date.

Outside of the Final Fantasy franchise I would say Chrono Trigger is a nailed on certainty, I've yet to find anyone who doesn't like it, and Dragon Quest IX is an extremely solid game too..aaaaaaand, I thoroughly enjoyed the first Kingdom Hearts.

I liked Final Fantasy X the most. I loved the gameplay, the graphics, the characters, the music, the story... it's almost a perfect game (some voices bother me :wacky:). I felt that Square had really outdone itself with this one. I honestly felt for the characters, Tidus wanted to make me cry when he was upset (I understand his relationship with Jecht very well, I know how he feels), if I was one of Yuna's guardian
when they discovered that a guardian needed to be sacrificed to become Sin, I would have volunteered first, I would've yelled it too :P
. I was so used to playing games without voices, so when I played this, it was a HUGE surprise for me lol. It's just beautiful.

Outside the FF franchise, it would have to be Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth for the PSP. Didn't play the PSX, but it's graphics bother me -__- this game has the most beautiful ending (second to FFX) ever, that is if you work to get the best ending. So many twists and turns change the outcome of this game, it's so clever.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, because it was a classic that introduced me to both tactics and FF games. Very solid gameplay and a bazillion missions meant that it kept me busy for months.

Within the Final Fantasy franchise, it's FFVI to absolutely no-one's surprise. I'll keep the explanation brief because I've probably said it often now. It may have lacked in the graphics department, but it made up for it with a dynamic storyline with perhaps one of the best character casts I have ever seen in the series - probably in any game even - and a very polished and enjoyable battle system. :3

Outside of FF, I have a few. I couldn't really decide on the single one very easily as they all have their merits. Chrono Trigger deserves a big mention. I can imagine how ahead of the competition it must have been at the time of its initial release, with the battle system and alternative endings. I love Secret of Mana as well, but Chrono Trigger trumps it in my opinion. SE never developed the following themselves, but it doesn't really matter. I still loved the following to bits:

Dragon Quest VIII (and IX being close) and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. The former is just amazing - perhaps one of the top PS2 games you can get (with IX being THE best DS game in my opinion). Graphically it's just inviting to look at, and the size of the world is a huge focal point for why I love the DQ games. Lenneth is interesting, and certainly one of my favourites. The unskippable cutscenes are irritating at times, but I love its story (loving Norse mythology helps as well), its battle system and the 2D platforming elements it has. The addition of a time limit until Ragnarok adds to the challenge and urgency.

Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV are my two favorite Square games with CT slightly coming out on top. I loved the time travel elements of CT and I loved Cecil's story in FFIV. I also tend to like 2D RPGs moreso than 3D rpgs.

FF8 and Chrono Cross.

Two great games that are totally under rated. It's sad too because they both rock. The amount of detail in Chrono Cross and the believable teenage characters in FF8 made the stories rock.

For me it had to be FF Tactics..the original version.
Ramza trying to be a good man despite the temptaions of his status and fighting the bad guys including his own brothers.
Epic.

Outside FF Chrono Trigger although I have never played it the whole way through.
It just seems so epic with such a broad sweep to it again.

FF wise, two come to mind. FFVIII for sentimental reasons I won't go into detail with, and FFXI Online. Non FF wise, Front Mission 3.

Final Fantasy VII for me. It's the first of the series I played and I thought it was absolutely spectacular. I'm still of the opinion that it's the best in the series in terms of storyline and sheer drama. The graphics were nothing spectacular, but honestly, I couldn't care less about 1999 video game graphics being crap. :lew:

Outside of the FF franchise, it would have to be Xenogears. Xenogears was one of those great RPG games that I absolutely got absorbed into to such an extent that I'd be thinking about what would happen next when I wasn't playing. I absolutely adored the storyline to it and if I could play it again I definitely would but as it stands, I don't have the console nor the game to achieve that purpose.

Out of the Final Fantasy series, I'd say I love III (tee hee) and XII the most. Sure, III is less heard off, and less played, but once you get into it (DS version), the characters have so much depth in them, that you just have to empathise with their feelings. Not the most creative of storylines, and they stole V's job system, but hey, it's a classic, battles, towns and dungeons were great too.

XII - although I only played the game since four weeks ago, it has really made a lasting impression on me (don't hate me, haters) and found that, while sometimes the battle/gambit system drove me nuts (I have to override commands), I absolutely loved the automated, dynamic play it gave. The graphics *drools* sooo much better than any game I played on the PS2 and etc. etc.

Outside of the franchise, I'd say The World Ends With You. It is a fantastically great game, and I'd recommend any DS players to get their hands on it. Although it has only one town, there are many zones and shops too, so you'll never get bored with variety. The battle system requires your multitasking skills, but it's so worth it. I loved it, and I can tell innovation has certainly gone into this. Again, characters, VAs... Graphics... It's not real cutscenes, it's like comic cutscenes, but it seems real... yeah. (y)
