I would like to hear what fella members think about animals. What do you think about them?

Animals are creatures. They should be respected like humans. For instance, if someone sees a snake mating with another snake, do not disturb it...or else you'll be their target, and it won't deal with mating either.

Anyway, some can be good companions, some cannot. It all depends on your preferences.

I respect animals and it's not respect in the fearful way, no.
It's more of a reverence. I suppose you could call it love for their natures, because they just seem so free from everything while we humans have routines and work and play and whatnot.

Animals shouldn't be treated like humans, by the way, because we wouldn't have all these conservation issues like we do today. We should treat them with more respect than that.

Um I think they're nice. How do you answer a question like that 'un? I like them. Some of them I like on toasted rye bread with a little mayo.

I have a healthy respect for the dangers of animals, definatly not the same respect I would afford a human however. animals have no idea what respect is for starters. That Great White circling someone as they flail in the water is not going to care if you respect it or not while it chows down.
Most animals can be dangerous and if you don't respect that then you are plain stupid. And if you bumble along in their territory without taking the proper respect then you deserve to be biten/stung/trampled or lunched upon.
I am not a veggie, however, and enjoy eating many of the animals on this green earth. That doesn't mean I don't respect them, it means I am surviving just like they are.

I love and respect animals. However, yes Im a meat eater and I do hope and pray that the animal has lead a decent life before its death, not like some of those poor chickens locked up in sheds for example. Sometimes I do eat the cheap meat when I cant afford anything more decent though.

Its strange when Im sickened when I see animals hunted for sport, yet I still eat meat. People dont see why one upsets me and the other doest. Well, the eating is survival if you will and hunting for sport is just wrong on so many levels.

I love all animals and Im very tempted to adopt a seal as my friend has adopted a chimp and my cousin has adopted a dolphin!

I know exactly where you are coming from on the hunting for sport thing. When i was a kid I went hunting with my dad, but again it was a survival thing. We didn't hunt for fun, we hunted to get meat.
We would go bush and shoot a couple of kangaroos and take them home. The fur was given to my uncle who made purses and slippers for the tourists and the meat would be packed into the family freezer. The tail and paws were given to the dogs as a treat and the only part buried instead of used were the internal organs as they carry a type of nasty parasitic worm that can kill humans and dogs. No wastage. And we never killed more than we could use.

Hunting for sport however is mearly cruel and wasteful.

I really don't know how to answer the question "What do you think about animals?"

Actually the first thing I think of if you use the word "animal" is human beings. Of course, non-sentient animals do a far better job at following the laws of nature than people do. Only people hurt and kill for personal gain.

I guess if someone called me an animal I'd take it as a compliment.

aw. See I used to be a vegetarian and yes I'm an animal lover. I can see that some of you care about animals as much as I do so thanx ^_^

I eat meat but I'm not going to cry about how cows are being killed for meat. Humans need the nutrition from meats to healthy. I also wear leather. I am against some animal cruelty such as: owners abusing their pets and killing near extinct animals.

I do hate PETA though.

I have a lot of respect for animals, especially wild animals. I actually had a close call with a large bear in Wisconsin many years ago. In short, I was trekking through the woods with a couple of friend and all of a sudden, there was large bear staring at us a few hundred feet away. Lol… We all though we where goners, but the bear just turned around and casually walked away.

Anyway, I do love animals and I would never harm one unless it’s a matter of survival.
