Yes, the period in the title is intentional. I am blown away by FFXIV:ARR. Quite simply stated. How seamless and BALANCED the single player questing is, with a truckload of things to do and skills to master, simple class switching, ENGAGING combat...I mean really? Combat where you have to do more than the same old tank/heal/DPS? I am blown away. The demo I have played thus far has far surpassed my expectations.

A few qualms...the early level progression is a bit linear. I only made it to level 18 this weekend and there wasn't a whole to do as far as customization but you can see the opportunities that will open up later on with Materia slots and different skill-focused equipment plus setting your combos and such to hotkeys will leave each person with a diverse approach to battles later on.

I wish this forum was a bit more populous here. We are starting out own guild for this game and I'd like to chat with others OUTSIDE of it, somewhere. Looks like not a whole lot of attention is being paid to FFXIV though.

If you have a PS3 and don't mind learning its systems for several hours, give this game a try. It's such a blast. And get this: The story is actually quite interesting. I just hope they replace the text boxes with actual audio, at least for the MAIN story quests. I imagine they will upon full release.

Well, I certainly am strongly considering getting this, just been extremely reluctant to get a game that requires a subscription just to play, but I reeeally think this may prove worth it to me. ^_^

We do have a FFForums linkshell setup. http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/threads/58035-FFXIV-ARR-Beta

Played yesterday (spent the whole day on Friday downloading the client on PS3) and so far so good. Considering it's still beta mode, I was quite impressed. Hopefully by next week, some of the obvious issues (text being too close to the edges that it's unreadable) will be fixed.

Since I downloaded the PS3 version, I was tempted to use a mouse and keyboard. Eventually, I did take out my keyboard and hooked it up on my PS3. I'm not sure if I would get it for PS3, but the thought of having to upgrade my new PC just to play kinda puts me off. I'd need to buy a new graphics card and admittedly, I wouldn't know what to look for.
