Wee, now I'm having trouble with Necron

So yeah, I started IX over to get some more leveling up and so I could get the ultimate weapons. And I must say I've done much better. I've got all the ultimate weapons for each character. Except for the Excalibur II, but I got Ragnarok. ^.^

So what's the problem?

I beat Kuja (WOOHOO!) and got to the point where I had to fight Necron. I took Zidane, Eiko, Vivi, and Steiner to the fight with me.

Due to his abuse of Grand Cross, the only one left standing was Eiko. Probably because she had auto potion and auto regen. Anyway, I tried to bring back everyone else and it didn't work. In the end, Eiko got inflicted with something that caused me not being able to control her, so she just kept hitting him. This went on for about five minutes until he eventually killed her. And my last save point is right before Deathguise. (I forgot to save before fighting Kuja)

Any suggestions as to what I should do? <.< I have auto life for Eiko, Zidane, Dagger, Steiner, and Vivi. Should I have auto regen on for Zidane? Should I ditch Eiko and bring in Dagger?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :tighthug: Sorry to keep bugging everyone with these questions. >_<

What levels are you? Obviously it'll be easier to survive him if everyone is 40+

Auto-regen is good to have, auto-life is okay too, but both should take a backseat to auto-haste. The absolute most important thing though is to make sure you have as much status immunities learned as possible. Have as many as you can equipped (while still leaving room for auto-haste).

Second most important thing is make sure Vivi knows Doomsday and that everyone has on a piece of equipment that negates or absorbs (obviously the better option) Dark attacks. It's going to do 9999 to him every time and you want to kill him fast.

You might just need to go back and level some more until you learn more abilities (grand dragons right outside Daguerro are the best choice), and you can keep Eiko, she's better than Garnet.

Your absolute must for immunising yourself to status effects is Body Temp. He'll inflict Heat on you more times than you'd enjoy, so it's a great way to smite an evil before you even get into battle. Stock up on Cleanse Tags [cures Zombie - can't remember if there's an ability that nulls it though], and Dead Peppers/Gysahl Greens [cures Berserk - again, don't recall there being an appropriate ability]. Equip Bright Eyes for Steiner and Zidane, and Loud Mouth for Eiko and Vivi; protect their strengths. ;p

Steiner's Doomsday Sword is a better option than actually using the Doomsday spell if you're not happy with the level of protection the dark-absorbing/nulling armour grants you - unless of course Steiner can hit for around 9000 as it is - in which case you needn't bother with using that technique.

He'll cast Protect and Shell on himself regularly, which you'll find to be a huge hindrance to your ability to kill him quickly. Make sure you use Eiko's Dispel as soon as he casts these support spells.

Last but not least, you'll probably want to head back and train some more. Memoria is a great place for buffing your levels, so you needn't worry about wasting too much time training as you'll be around lvl 60+ in no time. Make sure you've visited Daguerro and bought all the stronger armours and add-ons there to ensure maximum protection, and for the love of God steal from Kuja :wacky: [Deathguise only has an Elixer, a Black Belt and Duel Claws - none of which you'll find that great at this point]. Might as well steal the Elixers from Necron too, if you're low on them... and if you have the time/energy to spare.

Well, I didn't think I would have a hard time because everyone, with the exception of Amarant, Quina, and Freya were all level 50+. Zidane is level 64, Steiner is level 60, Dagger is level 59, Vivi is 57, and Eiko is level 52.

I already have some good equips because I did the Chocobo sidequest and bought a bunch of good stuff in Daguerro, so stealing stuff from Kuja that I already have like the White Robe are of no use to me.

I probably could have beaten him if Steiner wasn't mini-ed the entire time. That's why I'm going to bring Dagger in, so she can un-mini the stronger characters that don't use magic. Eiko didn't have the right spell, so...

And yes, the main abilities I had equipped to everyone were the ones that would prevent you from getting poisoned and whatnot.

Anyway, thanks for the help everyone! :neomon: I'm going to try again when I get back home.

I beat Necron on the second try, with average levels of 56, using Zidane, Vivi, Steiner, and Dagger. I didn't have dispel, but auto-regen for all except Steiner, and with auto-haste for Zidane. While continuously keeping a minimum of 2 characters alive, I kept hitting Necron with heavy elemental and physical attacks. Mega-Flare, Zidane, and top-level elemental spells did the most damage. It's important to negate debilitating status effects and have a high magic defence especially.

Didn't have Doomsday. =/
