When l approach the end of a game, one of the things l look forward to the most is finding, constructing, receiving or just buying the most powerful weapons for all my characters and choosing the best combination of armor and accessories to fill the particular roles l have set for my characters.

Item collecting is a huge part of any FF game, from the Celestial weapons of FFX to the Ultimate weapons of FFVII......ls this a time we look forward to, or is it just a part of going through the motions of any FF adventure

I like collecting ultimate weapons for characters, but I won't go terribly far out of my way to get them. Like in X I only got about half of them, I made sure to get Auron's because he was my favorite character in the game and my strongest fighter, but I didn't bother to get some of the other ones if I knew I wouldn't use the character in the final party. Armor I'm not as excited about, unless it's something with special powers, like elemental damage reduction or absorption. And I usually won't go after things I haven't gotten hints about during the course of the game--if I read online somewhere about special hidden items I don't really bother to get them for completion unless they sound really good. A lot of times I've come across special items by accident, and then found out that they were part of a set and went off looking for the rest (actually my best example of this was in a non-FF game, Secret of Mana, where I found one of eight special weapon orbs randomly and learned of their existence that way). However, I'm usually more of a story person and if it takes me too far out of the way I tend to shy away from it. I think my only exception would really be in VI, I do like trying to collect as many Relics and Espers as I can because almost all of them are extremely useful.

I enjoy getting all the items in the FF games, I hate when I realise i've gone past a certain part of the game, in which I can no longer go back to get a certain weapon or something, that irritates me like hell, so on the next playthrough, I use a walkthrough so I can obtain every weapon, armour, accessory, etc.

It's really cool to have every characters ultimate weapons and what have you, because they're usually really powerful, and are generally cool to have in your inventory.

Since im a rather anal player I like to get all those stupid lil items, sidequests ect so getting the "Ultimate Weapons is sort of mandatory for me ....even though I normally very rarely use them lol

I'm insanely iffy with this one part.

I liked VII's system a bit. The super-weapons are either hidden in a place you think you'll never have to visit again, and you might need a special item to get back to that place again, or there's some slight challenge or luck needed to get them.

I hated X's system. Some of the characters were beyond easy to get (Yuna). Others made me and the general public want to throw the controller at the television (Lulu, Kimahri).

It bugs the crap out of me, since I like to get as much stuff as possible before the final or optional bosses that I can get, even if the item/s are extremely useless, and then having to want to shoot the game developers doesn't help.

Thats why I get walkthroughs so I can get items, weapons, etc and not miss a damn thing. I get so pissed if I miss an item for a weapon or it gets sold and you have to go and gank monsters for another lol.

Only use them when i get them or have good stuff, VII so they give you no ap for magic that kinda sucks but X was very good got all of them.
