Watership Down

ohhh, I remember watching this at Yeary 7 camp. The teachers veiwed this movie for all of us, and, well, I don't have nice memories of it at all. Sure, it had a great story line and everything, but I don't really enjoy watching bunnies with rabies killing each other

then the deranged bunny starting a fight with a dog with rabies

It was decent, but then having to go to bed after that movie scared the shit outta me, I do remember having a nightmare about "when bunnies attack"

The movie was ok, the TV Series that the movie compiled was better, and the book that the TV Series represented was best. I LOVED Hazel and Fiver; the former was an excellent leader, whereas the latter was just a lovable character. Poor kid, though, what with everything that he had to go through to get them to Watership Down and other areas.

and the deranged rabbit was the Efrafran leader, General Woundwort. Right nasty character, but I suppose I can empathize; he was orphaned as a child and had no other way of learning survival.

I saw the movie and thought right, get ready with the hankies! But not one tear fell from my eye. So much for something emotionally moving, Ive cried more at the first Pokemon movie.

My mum refuses to watch this film, it traumatises her

Haven't seen it for years myself but I know it traumatised me too

It's definately not a kiddies film if you ask me, I well bawled at it.

The Pokemon movie reaaaaally made me cry when it came out in the cinema :/

I loved Watership Down the movie... And I also enjoyed the tv series and book, soo.

I can understand why people don't like it, and I feel it's a bit sadistic to be a kid's movie, but I didn't find it too traumatic when I first watched it so I guess it depends on what you're used to. Kids are used to more nowadays after all. :/

The tv series is much more kid friendly, and one of my best childhood memories (as are the other cartoons I adored back then). They didn't show series 3 in the UK though! But thanks to them bringing the lot out on DVD, I have now seen that. I'd say series 3 was more grown up than 1 and 2, but was missing the charming element. The animation also annoyed me 'cause they inverted the colours of some of the rabbits and totally changed the appearance of Pipkin and Primrose! >={

But, to go back to the film, having read the book after, they changed the story a little, and missed out some characters - although I can't remember who for the life of me. :/ Hazel was, indeed, a great leader! I feel they made Pipkin a bit too grown up though. He seemed more like an old dwarf rabbit and his voice sounded older than Hazel's!
