So, I--uh, actually, I had no idea where to put this, so bare with me. I really need to ask this question, I tried google but I can't find an answer anywhere. So, here it goes....

What's it mean when a girl's...ye know...period...has strong cramps and very little blood?
Please help.

Also, guys, I warned you.:mokken:

Nowt I imagine

I have the heaviest flow imaginable, like I go through super plus flow tampons like i go through crips

Yet I have no cramps

If it's new, and it bothers you get it checked out

My kinda thread :mokken:

*flings tampons at all the boys*

Lol, thanks Bambi. Okay, I was just wondering because my last two periods have been very light, almost no blood. But the cramps practically keep me bed ridden.

My mum told me to take Cranberry pills and drink lots of water, but it's still the same.

You can get tablets for it to ease the cramps, cant remember what its called but ive seen it advertised on tv at least

edit* It wasnt soley for that, but i recal it being mentioned, check out your local pharmacy, or see if you can get summat prescribed

Yea, I guess I was just wondering if I'm sick or something, or what can make it better.

God, man. Sometimes it sucks being a girl.-__-

If I recall correctly, the cramps are what your uterus is doing. Everything is shifting (albeit slowly but painfully) so that your bones are reconstructed wide enough so that you can pass a kid through. So the more painful the cramps, the more your body is adapting to woman hood.

And then the blood itself, is the uterine tissue/eggs/whatever else spare coming out. So because everything is shifting, you're not passing very much out and it's probably getting blocked along the way.

After your period, you may get brown/darker coloured blood which has semi dried inside you because it's taken so long to get out.

Well,it won't hurt to get it checked out if servere cramping is a new thing, peace of mind and all that

As Bambi said there are pills you can get to ease the cramps... I live in Amercia, so I don't know what brands you have there and all, but Pamprin and Midol relieve cramps, headaches and irritability and such. I would go to the doctor and get it checked out though, since its something new that started happening.

Okay, thanks ladies. It is something new, though. I've always had pretty normal flow but for my last two it's been practically non-existant.

I have been taking some aspirin, but it doesn't seem to help much with the lower cramps.

I work in a Pharmacy. :dave:

From a healthcare point of view it's nothing much to worry about, but if it's new and it's worrying you there's absolutely no harm in speaking to either a GP or a Pharmacist about it. People don't give Pharmacies enough credit, we're all trained to help you with this, we don't just hand out boxes of tablets haha...

If you're in the UK then Feminax and Crampex are both specially designed to reduce uterine wall contractions (period pains). They have an ingredient called Naproxen that's basically a slightly different strain of Ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory/muscle relaxant) and you can buy it over the counter. If you don't pay for your prescriptions then ask about it on eMAS (electronic Minor Ailments Scheme) - basically you can get it for free.

Other than that, Ibuprofen or Aspirin are suitable substitutions. You can get heat pads, deep heat rubs or even ibuprofen gels (just double-check with a Pharmacist if you can use it for period pains, although I don't think there's anything major you need to worry about) that will act faster. Hot water bottles won't go amiss either.

If you're taking the pills then try not to take them without eating something a wee while before it because they're quite harsh on an empty stomach. Also be cautious if you're asthmatic (but if you're taking Aspirin then you should be fine).

Riku, holy crap. That's an awesome coincidence in meeting you here. And actually I do see pharmisists as someone to help. C:

Thanks for the input, that makes me much more comfortable. Living in America, by the way. C:

Might still be called Naproxen but I know you lot rename things as simple as Paracetamol so maybe not. The advice remains the same though.

I like how I managed to input more in to period advice than a group a women. :wacky:

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were gay :mokken:

Lol, IDK, these ladies have helped a lot. Like Channy, she told me some info I didn't know about. C: Honestly, I don't care who helps as long as I get helped.

Lmao

As SorceressEdea7 said, I think our versions of them are Midol and... er.. the other thingie she said. I'm a bit of a chicken myself, so if anything was abnormal I would at the very least call my doctor, and see if it's normal... if cramps are so bad that it messes with day-to-day activities, you can be put on the pill or get special medicines for it, I'm pretty sure. (I nearly was, it makes your periods lighter and stops cramps from being so bad... I think. Not entirely sure. :wacky:)

It SOUNDS like you'll be okay, but if you think it could be something wrong, getting it checked can't hurt. Better to be safe than sorry and all.

I think the pill does help with cramps, I was originally put on it because I bled like I was dying every month (I still use super/super plus, so you can imagine how heavy my flow can be)

There's loads of different ones as well, so between you and your doctor you could find the best one for you

My period is hell.

Like... All the shit you can get for it, doesn't ease it, so I find myself in bed at least once a month all day. ¬.¬ Always been like this,

There's stuff as simple as ibuprofen that helps for some lucky girls out there, but well I'm fucked - and not the literal way.

-__- Talk about a great week. I started my fucking period last night, 'tis been nothing but hell.
