Playstation Vagrant Story

I lost my NES while moving. =[
I agree, that is a horrible loss. =[

i didn't really get into it because the first time i played it all the conversations were in japanese and i kinda only speak english

Oh dear lord. I own, have played, & have beaten this game & to sum it up: Vagrant Story = Jesus in videogame form. :P

It's one of my top favorite storylines ever.

I remember when my bro palyed it... He tryed to get Excalibur from one monster who had it. It was terrible!

I enjoyed playing it and finished the game once but that's about 3 years ago, ever sinc eI havent replayed it at all. I think the game is a good change but not as good as the FF-series (not the same style either).

One thing I hated was the risk thing tho, rlly prevented me of playing it the way I like it ^^.
Some thing si liked where the monsters and the storyline =).

Most RPGs when I beat them I feel empty -- I want more story. This usually prompts to run off to a fanfiction site somewhere to fill the void. But with Vagrant Story I had never been so satisfied with the ending. I'd rant about it but I really don't want to ruin it for you.

I wanted to ask how can you hate the risk system. What about it merits distaste. Its hardly cumbersome. If you do get high a couple of potions later its all back to normally or safe levels.

I enjoyed this game because it was challenging -- you couldn't just run through and hack away mindlessly. I like my brain and I like it when its working as opposed to vegging out.

I'm also very into the mental issues characters seem to have in many RPGs and this one is no slouch.

maybe if this game wasn't so damn pricey...ive always wanted to play it though i once had it but my brother didnt like it (the same person that didnt like final fantasy 7) and traded it in, and i never re-bought it and now its 150 dollars on ebay. silly me. :|

I still have this game sitting on my shelf. It was one of the first RPGs I played; and it was sooooo hard back then. XD

YEESH! I bought mine for 30 dollars off ebay about 6 to 8 months ago... talk about inflation!

I'm playing it right now... it's so drab. I'm having such a hard time keeping enough interest to go from stage to stage. I'll play for a bit and then just so bored I have to stop.

I consider this to be my favourite console RPG of all time. I just loved everything about the game from the characters (Sydney Losstarot is SO cool), the weapons (so many different ones to make) and the enemies (so much more enjoyable than FF.....minotaurs and such). The only downside is that some of the weapons were TOO hard to aquire. The whole idea of using to weapons to forge a new one was clever (and that's why I bought the official guide book). I really do wish they'd make a sequel.....or at least port it to PSP.

It's not everbody's cup of tea, I'll admit, it's a very dark game which doesn't have the same sense of character that some rpg's have, like the F.F.'s of the time - VIII and IX. I had said in another thread that I didn't think the story was great, it was a bit garbles at times, but I'm sure it would be worthwhile for anyone who took the time to properly read into it.

Other than that, it is a dungeon-crawler after all, so at times the game may feel relentless and without reward, since even the supposed sanctuary of the above-ground has you fighting enemies as well. That won't be to everyone's taste either, especially not on here.
