Useless television shows?

Well...I guess it depends what you're watching television for. Entertainment? Information maybe...like the weather or last night's sport scores?

If you're watching for entertainment, it depends on what amuses you. If American Idol doesn't entertain you, then it'd be useless, I suppose.

Etc, etc...
 
I don't think there is such a thing as useless television; it's kind of like junk food for the lazy mind...

Shows that I think have some form of meaning include Discovery and Science and even the News channel and ESPN...
I also like to watch the True Life Channel; you get to see how other people live their lives. ^.^

Absolutely meaningless shows...well...I guess the porn channel or the celebrity gossip channels.
 
I can think of uses for the porn channels; however, I agree about the celebrity gossip channels being good for nothing...

Infomercials are crap, too. I'd be lying if I said I was never intrigued by an item I saw advertised, but I'd never consider buying anything I learned of from an infomercial.

Day time TV in general pisses me off, because except for UK Gold and Dave, there's never anything on.
Particular types of shows are reality ones. Read: Big Brother, Trisha, Jeremy Kyle, X-Factor (yeah, I went there) and so on.
Also, the un-funny American slap stick sit-coms like My Wife And Kids. My sense of humour took a horrible blow when I watched that. =[
 
Reality TV shows like BB and X-Factor. Non-stop property shows and day time TV in general, most US comedies and Soaps also come to mind.

And Dave rocks, especially when it's all night Top Gear or QI. Class stuff.

I HATE reality TV, Big brother especially. When it's on TV it takes up so much TV time - Big bro's big mouth, big brain, little brother, diary room etc. ARGH! X factor and the likes are like singing compotitions so there OK. DAVE awsome channel!!!
 
No, but C4 is great for pushing great shows aside for utter crap. I mind that they used to put the The Sopranos on at half 1 in the morning to make way for repeats of Friends.

Teletubbies really pecks my head, tehy encourage my daughter to talk gibberish. Plus I hate it. Infact I hate MOST things on cbeebies....

...It really depends on what you think are useless. I think that the current cartoons they show on Cartoon Network are extremely dull, boring, stupid, and useless. Really, I feel dumb just listening to the characters talk to each other even for just a minute.

"Hey Cow, you stole my cow."

"Ahahaha, that's funny."

Reality TV is the crappiest shit to put on TV. I mean, I dont want to see wannabes wanting their 15 minutes of fame and willing to do anything to get it.

To me 99% of the reality tv shows are useless. Same thing with the talk shows and court tv shows.

Reality TV shows - Wow guy and girl racing for $1000000000000000000 and what do we get outta it?
Court TV - see how pathetic people need attention.
Talk shows - Read above.
Game shows - people win stuff. We watch them win it. We don't get anything out of it.

Lol! Now that I recall, I was switching channels (few years ago) and happened upon that particular one. The woman was conversing with a guy (on the intercom or phone, don't remember) and he was asking her this really weird sex question. I took note of the fact that the expression on her face seemed really concerned, yet unmoving...as if she does not find the whole situation funny.

Gee, why broadcast a sex question on television? Look it up online!
