In the new post thingy could you get it set up to show what forum the topic is from?
It is kinda helpful sometimes.

I don't know about that, you'd find out anyway right if you clicked on the link?

I'm not sure if we need a techie to do that. I believe it's only a setting in the Top 5 Statistics that can be easily modified, with the correct permissions masks. Failing that...we'll have to wait a long time for this to be added.

I'd like to see it work like this, myself. It's sometimes irritating if the title is somewhat vague and you're not sure if it's something that will grab your attention or not.

It would be pointless, in my opinion. Not only would it stretch out the statistics bar, making it so there's a big gap next to the banner - it's not even necessary. Hover your mouse over the thread, and your browser tells you what section the thread is in anyway, like so -

I wouldn't mind it, just the for tha fact it does my head in if I accidentally click on a GFX clan thread when I think it might be something in spam or summat....Ive done it afew times, although, tbh, I don't think it's really all that necessary, it would just make life a tad easier for the lazies (i.e me :wacky: ) amogst us xD

Well, you can just click on the topic, and then check what forum its in. Should take less than 10 seconds.

Apparently, that's specific to whatever browser it is that you're using, because mine only comes up with www.finalfantasyforums.net/showthread?sjdghlakjgt34ui56oq3456. It doesn't actually come up with the thread location or details; just some gobbledegook. :wacky:

The new member section I rarely look there mainly because most don't even start posting. So couldn't you take that down and add the location too it?

Probably but I think that the staff can all agree it's beneficial to us, as a team. We frequently use the top 5 statistics and beyond to check the IP's of new registered members and there's nowhere else on the page that shows us such information, save for the "Welcome to our newest member:" addition at the bottom of the page.

True it does. But you should be able to check that in the members screen by clicking on join date.
Just checked and it does.
For staff it should also show IPs.

...that would involve going through the entire list anytime we wanted to check IP addresses. That's just impractical - we need to know the names of the members for whom we are looking.

If it came down to it, I'd fight you against its removal. :wacky:

It's being a bit language? Wtf... semantic?

I still think it would be a nice addition but nothing necessary. In fact, I'm not really sure this site needs anything... except a working link to the rules. If you find someone to do it, have them do it. If you can't, then what's the point of discussing it?

We actually used to have this before, but after Darkblade sold it to LeeD, and Ken became our new tech admin, he never figured out how to fix it.

This was very usefull I thought. I hate clicking on a thread that sounds serious and exciting, and then finding out it's a pointless spam thread in the spam section.

Seriously though it wouldn't hurt to have it. Right now it just says go to first unread post blah blah blah, kind of boring. It depends if we have someone to do it since we don't have a tech admin right now, it's just something thats going to have to wait.

Exhibit A

If you would look it says page one.
Just click on join date once then the box that appears next to it.

For some reason my browser only shows the forum that the thread is posted in occasionally.

Anyway, I guess this idea would be a nice addition. But if it's going to cause too much trouble then I don't really see the point in arguing over it. Considering all you have to do is direct your cursor to the back button if the thread isn't in the forum you expected. So it's no big deal really.

Why not get Belazor to come back?
He is a great Tech Admin.

Well, technically, we don't NEED anything on the site other than the ability to post in appropriate forums. Beyond that, everything's a luxury, so we'd be as well saying that we don't need the top 5 statistics at all, or profile information, or the ability to change our usernames...

So, I'd say that it's as necessary as any other addition to the forum - still unnecessary but no less interesting.

That'd be fun. xD

Things aren't quite that simple. Which is why none of our three previous tech admins have been invited back ;D
Hahah, that's not strictly true. xD
