I finally completed it the other day. To be fair I quite enjoyed the second half of Disc 3 all the way up till the end. Only thing I didn't like is that you can only actually do the Earth Shrine whilst the others are done for you. It was an excellent oppertunitie to have some sort mix and match team work like you select two characters to go to a shrine and they have to solve puzzles to get passed to the seal but how much you get out of it (treasure etc) depends on who you selected for the shrine tho you'd progress in the game regardless.
When you get attacked by the Earth Guardian in the Earth shrine I checked its name and though it was pretty cruddy that it wasn't called Lich only to find out later it was actually Lich. I was happy with that cos my brother thought I was mad calling it Lich (he hasn't bothered playing through any of the earlier FF's).
