Ultima weapon possible to get in single player?

So I read that in order for terra to unlock arena events such as the chariot one, you have to fight that boss first in the story. So I fired up a game on Aqua and got far enough to beat the chariot with her, then beat the arena event for it as her as well. I went back to my Terra save file and the event STILL isn't there. My arena is level 28 and absolutely can not go any higher without the chariot fight and the hades/zack/ice titan one. Is there ANY way to unlock these events on Terra without help from a friend?
