Most people ask me about the xbox and the fact that the wireless adapter for the old models cost alot of money, well here a little guide showing off a nice trick on how to get your xbox online without one..... you do need a pc, a Ethernet lead, and a way to get the pc connected to the internet via wireless, this will work for PS3 as well incase you want the wireless on the ps3 for ad hoc party but your ps3 is to far away from the router
First, make sure you have admin rights for your pc, as this requires admin permissions to do, also this ONLY WORKS ON WINDOWS VISTA AND WINDOWS 7. finally, make sure your pc/laptop has both wireless and a ethernet port... now that aside let begin
first log on and make sure your connected to the internet via wireless, then go to control panel and click on network and internet
Next, click on network sharing center (again the big link
Then at the side of the window, their will be a blue strip with links (green if running vista) click on change adapter settings
you will then see all your network adapters that are installed on the pc (normally you should have 2, one wireless one wired) highlight the wireless network connection and the local area connection do this by holding CTRL as you click
next Right click to get up the context menu, and click on bridge connection (if needed, you may be prompted by UAC (User Account Control), click Yes or type in an admin password if it needed)
then it should pop up with 'windows is configurating bridge connection'
afterwards, you should have a new adapter called bridge connection, wait til that says it connected
after that, plug one end of your ethernet lead into your pc, the other end in your XBOX 360 or PS3, then turn your console on and if everything goes well, tada, you now should be able to connect to XBOX Live or PSN. well done, you just save yourself 60 quid on something microsoft should of have built in
any questions just ask
