T'was a morning like any other for us. We randomly woke up at 3:30am like we always do and can't get back to sleep. Only this time, we open our email to what looks to be a normal email from our Mother.
We were wrong.
Upon opening, 5 mintues later we start getting pop-ups. That is never good, not only do pop-ups suck, they're normally blocked.
Instantly, we start a scan with our anti-virus. However, while doing so, a anti-virus program we've never seen before installs itself onto our computer. (Obvious keylogger/virus is obvious.)
We scan everything on our computer and find that we have 12 Trojans... 12 of them, on our computer from one email.
We go into hyperactive SAVE-AS-MUCH-SHIT-AS-YOU-CAN-MODE. We take our 40 gig external drive and save as much as possible when our comptuer tells us that it has to have an emergency shut down.
Anime - saved 15%
Music - 35%
Video Games - 40%
Pictures - Complete
Programs - 85%
Documents - 5%
Movies - NOT A FUCKING THING!
Now, we're going to install Windows 7, because we are sick and tired of Windows XP, and because our new ram just came in and we fucking can.
We instantly called our Mother and threatened to never give out our email again and that she should delete that account immediately, and should have never taught her how to pirate movies.
So, we may not be on for the next couple of days as we attempt to sort everything out and re-download/pirate everything that we lost.
Anyone else have any similar experiences? Discuss.
P.S: Also, whenever we get back can someone please fill us in on everything that we've missed since the shit hit the fan? Thanks.
