Whew, finally here to update this thread 
Lady Aerith, as for your big rant about threads like this ... well, you asked about logic. Ask yourself this: how logical is it that people can sustain so many injuries but can be brought back to life by a person who throws dust into the air? How logical is it to say that people can summon mythical beasts to attack rats?

I like Aeris a lot more as a character for battle in FFVII, but I liked Tifa more as a character in the story.
IMO I feel that Tifa cared more for Cloud than Aeris did, Tifa was just too scared to make it known to him.
In reality, I would've liked to see Cloud & Tifa end up together, and I think that they did hook up on that rock outside of the Highwind. But I don't think it was for love, I think that Cloud just felt that it was the right thing to do at the moment. It might've been because he thought that they wouldn't win against Sephiroth, and gave in to the feelings he had in the past for Tifa.
IMO I feel that Tifa cared more for Cloud than Aeris did, Tifa was just too scared to make it known to him.

Actually Omni, in my opinion and from what has been officially published, both women cared for him equally. Not one cared for him more than the other, but it did state in Aerith's official novel Maiden Who Travels the Planet that she loved Cloud more than she ever loved Zack and NOT for the Zack in him either but for the Cloud in him.
As for the rock...there is NO indication that they ever "hooked up" at all whatsoever just because the camera panned upwards. There wasn't even signs of them "hooking up" when they awoke the next morning. Tifa was laying on Cloud's shoulder still fully dressed and Cloud wasn't even holding her, he was just sitting there. So how did they "hook up" Just because the cameras panned upward? The same thing happened on the Gondola with Cloud and Aerith. They were interrupted by fireworks and the cameras panned away from them upward towards to sky when the fireworks were shooting off, so how do you know Cloud and Aerith didn't get freaky inside of the Gondola? I'm sorry but there are no indications of sex under that ship or on the Gondola at all.
I felt that Tifa was looking to him for comfort and support especially because they thought it was their last night. Have you ever seen the official commercial? The words were stated "A Love that can never be" and showed Cloud putting Aerith in the water so yeah. IMO Cloud loved Aerith and didn't realize that until after she was gone and I feel like he still does. He's pining for her stillin Advent Children, he leaves Tifa because of the guilt over Aerith. He cares for Tifa and loves her yes, but not romantically. Even after throughout Case of Tifa and Advent Children and the Reunion Files, Tifa is highly pushed towards more of a motherly figure to Cloud because in a lot of aspects he's still just a big kid. I'd hate to think of having sex with my best friend/mother figure....and I can quote Official stuff in the Reunion Files and Case of Tifa if you don't believe me.
Now also keep in mind I am a Clerith, so obviously the stuff I just posted about Cloud loving Aerith is all my own opinion. As for the Tifa=mother stuff, that was strongly indicated by the writers themselves.
And this is not a big rant. This is me posting my personal opinion and feelings on it, Riku

I should've added that I think that if Aeris would've stayed alive, I would've PROBABLY wanted her & Cloud to be together. But unfortunitely, she died, so we can never trully say that they would've ended up together either.
I am a big fan of your story I might add, and I feel that the way you're portraying Cloud in it is pretty accurate. So if Aeris would've stayed alive, maybe she'd be going throught he same headache the Andi's going through.

That's weird. That happened a lot in that game actually. Maybe he got it on with a lot of people in the game. Barret and Jesse in the mako reactor elevator in the very beginning of the game... too bad they didn't put it to the Aerosmith song. That actually brings up a TON of questions... this may just require it's own topic...Now also keep in mind I am a Clerith...

I was a Bareefa (Barret and Tifa) and a Ciderith but now I'm a Cantankerous. lol haha Actually, if I had to see FFVII play out romantically, I'd like to see Tifa and Cloud get together. I don't know why you don't. If it's because you like Aeris more, that's fine. If it's because you don't like how the fans misrepresent big boobs magee, than I'd say that's a bad basis for your arguement.

It's occured to me that Cloud is actually a very shy person. Therefor if he does love Tifa he'll probably never tell her that he does. As I recall, he never told Aeris how he felt either.
ahhhh man aeris bugged the crap outta me mainly cuz i go and level her up and get her limit breaks then bang she goes and dies. but she saved the planet and helped out cloud so just for that il vote tifa

After discussing this with two other mods, we feel it is best to go ahead and close up this thread. We don't want to see any friction caused between the members over this and we feel that eventually this thread will become nothing but spam. We'd really like to see NO MORE of these types of threads in the future. Thank you for all of this who cooperated in the debate and didn't get out of hand or didn't spam.
