Right, I've just found it a bit strange that most of the threads about the difference in character design are about Yuna. I mean, I understand that we aren't used to innocent Yuna in such an outfit, and no longer being innocent and such, but.. no-one seems to be posting much about Rikku.

She also was more of an innocent, childish character in X, and now she's just become a more sexual character, apparently. But I think she's fine, when it comes to her looks. Rikku simply has a bikini and shorts on as she's a thief, and it's easier for her. Also she's probably wearing it because she likes it, and yes, she's the kind of person who'll wear it outside in public. But she's not a slut. Surely SE didn't have that kind of thing in mind.
Besides, most of the audience for X-2 would be women, what with the whole dressphere thing.

Yuna's attitude is what annoys me, although they wanted X-2 to be more positive, maybe even a pro-women thing. I only dislike it because she seems fake. If they had pulled it off a bit better, I wouldn't have minded.

Rikku seems more genuine, since we know her as a peppy person anyway.

People need to realise that the reason they changed Yuna is because she fits the rest of the game - isn't that what the old Yuna wanted to do as well? Fit in?

/rant.

(That took so much copy-pasting for her name. ._.)

Of course Yunas character is gonna change. In FFX she has the weight of the world resting on her shoulders, shes in charge of defeating sin which will cost her, her life. You notice a pickup in Yunas personality after beating Yunalseca, she seems far happier as shes gunna defeat sin without losing her life.
I mean Yunas young, shes having fun. Her personality didnt annoy me at all in X-2 as shes a completely different person. She no longer carries that burden with her, hence why shes changed. Its not about us realising that they changed Yuna to fit the game. She HAD to change, she cant have been the same person she was back in FFX as cicumstances are different. A lot different.
She is happy because the people are free of sin, theres less suffering in Spira. She did her job and beat Sin, now she can enjoy herself.

I totally agree. Yuna was a very different person in FFX to FFX-2 because her responsibilities had changed. Who, once they found out that they no longer needed to die in order to save the world, would stay the same semi moping, semi optimistic person that Yuna was. I know I wouldn't

Kind of confused with the whole '' What gender is FFX-2 designed for '' ?.
But think that X-2 was designed for both genders. That Females will enjoy the cute, love-like storyline and the singing half-way through storyline scenes. While the males will enjoy the cute and skimpy costumes on the main women and mini-games like the '' Give Leblanc a massage while she moans loudly '' >___> [ * shudders *]

But thought of Rikku's change too. Just kept the thoughts quiet. Thought that Rikku was the same happy character she was in X and she is the type of women to enjoy skimpy and loose clothes. But not in a desperate '' Must- find- a maan '' type of way. Don't think that Rikku was changed into a easy and desperate girl. She was still having fun and being cheerful. Rikku was just being herself and not really minding what others thought.

Think Yuna just wanted to be free and spirited and not so stressed out. She wanted to be like the people that she looks up to. Tidus and Rikku. Both of them were really relaxed somewhat childish and really goofy. Yuna just wanted to be more like them and copy their style. [ Like how Yuna has Tidus's Zanakand symbol on her chest & the pink hood. Kind of like the hood Tidus had. ]

Though surprised that Rikku didn't change in a whole Black Mage Lulu kind of sense.
Remember younger Rikku really hoping/ wanting to grow up and just be like Lulu.
Rikku would of looked totally badass in a long yellow dress and red pointy hat. :3

Yuna sometimes tries too hard to show everybody how happy she is. Other than that it's a pretty logical evolutions of her character. The stress of having to deal with Sin pretty could be seen in how she carried herself in FFX, very conservartive. Now she can go and do whatever she wants and is more energetic and happy-go-lucky. The fact that she's been hanging out more and more with Rikku (which she didn't do for her years growing up on Besaid), adds to her becoming who she is in X-2. Truth be told, I wouldn't mind if she had a bit more edge to her personality, maybe a couple of witty one-liners here and there (no, stuff like "it sucks" and "Let's do something" don't count)

Rikku's change doesn't surprise me either, she was worried sick about Yuna all the way and seeing as she was the youngest of the party, it's no mystery why she seemed so soft-spoken in many parts of FFX. Being the group's only Al Bhed didn't always help either, now she's cruising with a predominantly Al Bhed group throughout Spira, yup she's definitely at home. Id be smiling my ass off too.

I can understand how B feels about Yuna appearing fake in FFX-2. There were times when I too thought that her happiness wasn't quite genuine. However, there are reasons for that. She's just beaten Sin so she's off on her own adventure. But she's also looking for him and I think it starts to frustrate her that she can't get any positive leads and therefore, her happiness at times seems really forced.

An event like the calm changes a lot of people (this thread is just going to end up going on about Yuna's change even though that wasn't what it was about...) but Rikku had a personality in X that was already perky. She was the fun-loving, bouncy one. And so, in X-2, she's only really become a little more mature. Her personality in X-2 always feels genuine.
