Im enjoying some aspects of FFXIV, but there are some major annoyances. I don't mean bugs/glitches, those are to be expected. After all, the standard edition hasn't even hit release yet, however.

Somethings simply should have been done around the beta.

The minimap gives you no information, i can't see party member locations unless we are within 20 yards of each other, if you go further than that poof! your mates are gone. No indication as to even the direction they have gone. I can't see gather points, i can't see quest givers, i can't see merchants or merchant types. I have to click every single green NPC that might be a merchant, scroll through all the chat text (with massive delays on everything you do), eventually browse their goods only to realise it's not what you're after. I realise there is a slight indication if you look at their stalls, like they are surrounded by say, fruit.

I have green dots and i have orange dots, seriously?

Where are the chat channels? I can say, shout or talk to a group / Linkshell. I found i could /tell to players ( /whisper doesn't work) by chance. Not like there's any info to help you discover these things. You can't even edit the only two chat tabs you got beyond the options offered to you by SE. Which are lack luster at best. Nor can yuo seem to add new custom tabs, just as well since you can't really customize them.

Where is the information on available quests/leve? NPC's don't display available quests, the stones don't show available leve's

You get your introduction quest, once as you finish that that's it. NO more information from the game on where you might find more quests/leve's.

You can't scroll your map, the minimap has no filters, because there is no useful information to filter, which only makes finding the possible locations of future camps and quests even harder.

There's no information in game on synthesis possibilities, so you gather all these materials with no clue as to what you can use them for. Would a crafts tab with available recipe's have been that difficult?

That said ::phew:: im still enjoying this, the combat (Without all the bugs) is pretty entertaining and the game feels great to play. Im just not sure why some seriously useful features were not added during the beta and Alpha, is that not what they are for?

Im also at a lost as to why your payment method is restricted to click and buy, what's wrong with Paypal? Click and buy is trash, not to mention not even close to being as secure.

It's also weird that nobody in game seems to talk. Maybe that's because there's no method of communication outside of say and yell?

Oh and i can't fathom why the patch is done via some trash peer to peer program that can't seem to handle more than 20 connections. I mean even free p2p software can handle a million times more than this thing. You're already charging a fortune for the game compared to other MMO's.. Would it be so hard to simply host your content yourselves?

I also think a simple auto-attack would do well. I realise Auto-attack isn't exactly FF. But having to spam the crap out of a button that results in masses of really annoying beeping sounds is just... annoying.

Also, please please PLEASE fix this menu crap. Slect menu option > 3 seconds of delay. Ok ready. EVERYTIME you select an item, or a menu function, or perform a none combat action you are waiting, waiting, WAITING, for it to load. It took me forever tyo trade off 30 or so items to my retainer. Everytime i selected an item, 3 second delay, everytime i selected "entrust" 3 second delay. It's not really excusable for a "polished" retail version still sporting the same issues you did in both Alpha and Beta. I've tried to lower GFX settings down and nothing helps. I've even reduced my buffer size down and now my game looks like crap.

I hope to god SE listen to their fanbase, because if they don't this will be a massive flop.

You have to use the wikis (I highly recommend http://ffxiv.yg.com/ ) when trying to find anything in this game. It's just too hard to play without it. I know that there is lag, but it's at least manageable now (compared to beta). It should be fixed within a couple of patches.

The best you can do here is macros. You can setup very complex macros that let you do fancy stuff like chat with multiple linkshells at the same time, or selectively block out specific messages. Once again, this is hardly a dealbreaker in my opinion. Give the game some time, this stuff will be added eventually.

Where is the information on available quests/leve? NPC's don't display available quests, the stones don't show available leve's

All found in your local adventurer's guild. Leves you've accepted

You get your introduction quest, once as you finish that that's it. NO more information from the game on where you might find more quests/leve's.

A second story quest opens up right away, and you unlock another at rank 10 and another at 15. Not sure after that but I know people have hit the fourth storyline quest already.

The minimap is invaluable to me, though I like using the big map much more often (found with M). I like how you can view the map and move at the same time. This is a huge convenience in my opinion, once that is often overlooked.

There's no information in game on synthesis possibilities, so you gather all these materials with no clue as to what you can use them for. Would a crafts tab with available recipe's have been that difficult?

Once again, you must use the wikis to learn your crafting recipes. And if you find any recipes from local guildleves that aren't on there, be a dear and add them for the rest of us. :p

If you're using Paypal get a paypal debit card and you should be able to buy a subscription right on the site. Many online retailers do not accept Paypal as they have questionable administration practices that have lead to the loss of very large sums of money for trivial reasons. Square clearly doesn't want to waste time with a middleman like that here.

It's also weird that nobody in game seems to talk. Maybe that's because there's no method of communication outside of say and yell?

There are a lot of foreign people in this game, and most people only talk to their fellow linkshell members. Wait till the final release, you should see a lot more chat activity.

Another annoying problem with the game that is easily circumvented. Simply run each torrent in a free p2p program and you will get updates much faster. Hopefully future updates will be less of an issue.

Auto attack doesn't really work in this game... spamming one key may be an effective tactic early on, but you'll have to rapidly switch through abilities later to have any chance of winning battles.

Yeah, that's a problem with the server and not your computer. Selling items is still noticeably slow, but at least it's better than beta. Doesn't seem to bother me that much anymore because I tend to not sell a lot of items to NPCs.

How Would YOU Improve FFXIV?

Hey Guys,

Thought I would start a new thread about this and get the ball rolling.

I know that FFXIV is not that brilliant at the mo, but I think it could be something really special and think that SE will pull something out of the bag to fix some of the bugs.

So how would you improve FFXIV?

Thinking of sending all of these suggestions to SE or giving them a call if we get enough.

My main grips:

The user interface needs a complete rehaul.

When you are starting the game it does not "lead" you enough and it is quite easy to get lost.

More content in general.

The combat system and the camera angles are REALLY annoying.

Other than the above I am quite enjoying the game.

What are your views?

How can we make this better

I've been trying to share my ideas and getting what i know out so together we can better our gaming experiences, please watch my youtube

video and submit comments on it, im trying to encourage people to really get together and talk about it so we can get suggestions and changes out there by popular demand. Square Enix needs its fans out there more then ever for this game.
