Does anyone here know how to obtain the "Sunflower", in other words the legendary Tournesol, which is the most powerful weapon in the game?

I know it requires many steps and such, anyone know them?

Yeah there has been alot of discussion on how to obtain this. If you look in the other threads it has been explained numerous times.

I've never gotten it but it goes something like this... Don't open any of the sacred treasures then beat the wall and it will be there. And there is another way to get it but its like 1/1000 it will be there. Sorry I couldn't be more help.....

Hmmm

>Don't open any of the sacred treasures then beat the wall and it will be there.

Could you elaborate more on what or which part specifically you're talking about.

I think Sever Off mistaken it for Demonsbane, but for Tournesol you will spend a lot of hours just to get ingredients for that sword.

i am sure zodiac spear is the strongest weapon

i guess you mean tournesol is the strongest 2-handed sword?

^Well I've never gotten neither of them so I wouldn't know, but I assumed it would be the strongest seeing as how it is the hardest to obtain and takes the most license points to get.

Attacking power:

Zodiac Spear - 150
Tournesol - 140

Zodiac Spear is indeed the most powerful weapon in the game. But its combo rate comes up much shorter in comparison to the Tournesol's, with the latter rivalling even some of the high-end katanas and low-end ninja swords.

I, myself, created a half-baked FAQ of getting the Tournesol. Hopefully it may be of some use to you.

To get one of the best weapons in the game, you'll need to sell off these items at the Bazaar Goods: 3 Gemsteels + 3 Empyreal Souls + 3 Serpentarius

Gemsteel (AKA 'Matchless Metal' in Bazaar Goods) = 1 Scarletite + 2 Damascus Steel + 2 Hell-Gate's Flame.

Scarletite - Poach/Chain the large tortoise creature in the Nabreus Deadlands (Chaining is supposedly easier). Requires Hunter monograph to increase the probability of the creature dropping the item to 6%, this is available at the Bazaar Goods as the Forgotten Grimoire, priced at 18,000 gil.

Damascus Steel - The best way to get this item is to steal it off the Rare Game Bluesang in Cerobi Steppe/Crossfield. This dude has a 40% chance of appearing in that area surrounded by those traps. A great strategy to steal many off him is by altering your attacking gambit to the 'steal' function for 3 of your party members so that stealing becomes the main process throughout. In this way, you won't have to worry about accidentally killing him on the job. Once you've stolen one off him, you'll need to retreat back to the blue save crystal and save your progress. Then press start and square to transfer yourself to the title screen. Reload the save file and enter Crossfield again hopefully to find Bluesang there. If not, you'll have to quit the game and reload until he does, before you can resume the pilfering. Rinse, lather and repeat.

Hell-Gate's Flame - Poach/Chain Cerberuses in the Feywood (Trust me, you wouldn't want to use Poach on this one). The Tartaruses can also be included in the chain but, apart from them, no-one else. The Hunter monograph helps your chance of getting them.

Empyreal Soul (AKA 'Jewel of Creation' in Bazaar Goods) = 1 Soul Powder + 2 Wargod's Band + 1 High Arcana.

Soul Powder - This may not be the easiest way of getting it but it may be of relevance to you if you have already unlocked the secret area in the Henne Mines. There's a creature in the Special Charter Shaft called Etem which drops this item and it can be stolen from him. The Warmage Monograph increases the chance of the item being dropped to 10%. It's available at Bazaar Goods as the Forgotten Grimoire costing at 20,000 gil.

Wargod's Band - Poach/Chain Leynir which appears in the Nabreus Deadlands/Lifeless Strand (Chaining is the wiser decision). The Hunter Monograph is needed here.

High Arcana - Stolen from any Esper.

Serpentarius (AKA 'Jewel of the Serpent' in Bazaar Goods) = 4 Snake Skins + 2 Serpent Eyes + 1 High Arcana.

1 Serpentarius can be stolen off the esper Zodiark in the Henne Mines.

Snake Skin - Dropped/Steal from the Wildsnake in Giza Plains/Toam Hills during the Dry Season.

Serpent Eye - Dropped/Poached from the Basilisk in Feywood/White Magick's Embrace, Ice Field of Clearsight, Edge of Reason. Poaching sucks as always, chaining them might increase your chances than just killing them alongside other enemies. Having the Hunter Monograph helps as well, giving you an 8% probability.

The key items you can get through rewards or bounties: -
1 High Arcana - Reward from Montblanc once you've attained the clan rank of Paragon of Justice.
1 Empyreal Soul - Reward from Montblanc once you've attained the clan rank of High Guardian.
1 High Arcana - Reward from Montblanc once you've obtained 4 Esper Licences.
1 Gemsteel - Reward from Montblanc once you've obtained 8 Esper Licences.
1 Serpentarius - Reward from Montblanc once you've obtained all 13 Esper Licences.
1 Serpent Eye - Bounty after defeating Rank V Mark Marilith.
1 Soul Powder - Bounty after defeating Rank II Mark Ixtab.

If you've collected all these rewards, then 2 Gemsteels + 2 Empyreal Souls + 2 Serpentariuses is what your actual target should look like.

^ i guess he said it all

Although i prefer the tournesol to zodiac spear because it's combo rate it alot more than zodiac spear and it looks pretty cool

High arcana can be obatained by selling 10 arcana, 1 feystone and 1 soul of thamasa
You get arcana by buying the canopic jar

yes, it does, but combine that with the Staff of the Magi - or it might be the Rod of Faith - whichever one boosts magic power the most (combined with Sage's Ring and Magic Clothes, and use high-end attack magic such as Scourge or Scathe or Holy) and the Excalibur or another heavy-hitting weapon and you have a hell of an attack combo...
