This is something that Viv started at a different forum. Where when bored, you can write out a random storyline, revolving around a character you create. The versions I post now is only different wit ha detail here and there that I missed during writing, and general typo fixing.
Though, as I wrote the last chapter today, I wondered how I were doing, so I decided to post it up here for criticism.
Please state your comments and critics.
Note that this is an ongoing story, it is written when Im bored and feel like it.
So, chapter 4 might come whenever.

Chapter 1 - Shattered past
The air was heavy, use up ages ago. Breathing became an inconvenience rather then something you do out of habit.
He opened his eyes, looking around; it was completely dark, save a few small colored blurry lights. They looked like buttons, or something of the like.
"Ow... My head...." he said to himself, as he stroked his right side of his head in the darkness. Apparently he had hit himself, as a tender lump proved this idea.
He shook his head, again trying to look around. The darkness where slightly brighter now, apparently he was out for some time, judging by the state of his vision.
It was better now though, and he could see slightly better.
The lights he saw before, was indeed buttons, 4 of them where currently alight. And he noted that he was inside a small room, which had only a chair, and a whole row of buttons.
He sat in the chair, with a stick, sticking up between his legs, seeming to fit perfectly in his hand.
At his left, there where another stick, thought that was a sideways one.
He was in a cockpit. The blast shield was drawn fore, hence the complete darkness. The blast shield is a metal shield for the window.
He looked around. There where way too many buttons, and he had no clue what so ever what they did.
Which lead him to a question that delivered some fear to him.
"Who am I?"
He looked around as his eyes had removed the blur and he could now see way better than a minute ago. He looked mostly on himself. He had a black set of pants, a black tank top. His hair was rather long, he estimated it to hang to around his hips, and it was fastened in a ponytail, pure white in color.
The pants where held up by a black belt, and his boots where black as well.
He laughed slightly at himself; only black clothes and pure white hair.
He noted that on both wrists, he had some large bracers, almost like gauntlets, just that they did not cover his hands, off course these were also of a black color, the type that does not reflect light, it seemed they were covered by a rubber material.
They began just behind the wrist, and went up just over halfway to the elbow. They had buttons on them, as well as a screen.
The right hand one glowed a very faint red color and the left one a dim blue.
He pressed a button on the left one, as the screen flashed on, displaying a message that made him let out a large sigh.
"Enter password"
It was the same for the right one.
First now, he noted a set of Dog tags around his neck. Perhaps that would help out?
He lifted them up, and read the info.
-------
Home world - Larosia
17/12-14th
Blood type - A+
-------
That did not do much. At least he now knew his home world, as well as his blood type, though he was still at square 1.
If they where his dog tags at all, and not something he had stolen or something that was placed on him.
First now, he noted that when he released his dog tag, it did not fall down. Thus he was in zero gravity, most likely in space.
His right hand where instinctively drawn to a screen, that light up as he came in contact with it.
A set of choices where displayed, but one main one where what he felt most drawn to.
"Open cover shield"
A second after he had chosen it, the cover began retracting, showing his current location.
In space alright, thought there were no planets in sight. Save distant lights.
The power level indicator indicated 60% left, and 80% fuel, life support was jumping between critical and low.
All systems where go, no problems with the craft at all, at least this was the displayed date. This only gave him more questions.
Why was he here and what happened?
These where only 2 of the many questions that arose in his head.
He noted that even thought he did not remember anything, he knew how the fighter worked. And on further thought, he knew that he was in a fighter, one of many that the larger class ships carried.
He started clicking around on various buttons, only by instinct.
The display started showing a lot of information. Location, weapon status, shield status, engine status. Basically everything about the fighter.
Lastly, he turned on the sensors. The sensors picked up a lot of interference, and it displayed his location, a few random asteroids, a large class vessel not too far away, as well as some debris of a long gone ship.
As his fighter where not capable of hyper space travel, he headed for the large class vessel. The trip would take a rough 10 minutes.
As the fighter where on auto pilot, he started roaming around in the database.
Neither the information about himself, nor anything about the reason he where in there, only a lot of general information that did not help him the least.
After 6 minutes, he was near enough to see the size of the ship he had detected on the sensors.
It was fucking large, at least a kilometer in length. It was a purplish color, and had what appeared as a smooth and slightly reflective surface.
He tried hailing the ship, but was only greeted with the ships computer.
**Image Link**
After a few minutes ‘talking’ to the computer, he learned that the ship where unnamed, it only had its production number: XCN-514-P
The computer responded to the call sign “Lil”
The current crew size, where none. As the ship where hid in an empty part of space. The interference in this region, made the ship almost impossible to find, thus it was perfect.
The reason it was hid here, was that it was made as an experiment, but some of its systems where too much for the time and planet it was made in, so instead of destroying it, it was hidden away, until the time came that it would be found, hopefully that would make it right “in time”, technology wise.
The computer had been programmed to let the first one finding it, become its captain and owner. This was due to the creators had died ages ago.
He grinned largely, as he instructed Lil to open the fighter bay, after which he entered and landed.
As he exited the fighter bay, he noted that the right bracelet started to fall off, he had apparently knocked it loose during the time he where in the fighter.
As he looked at it, his face grew with a grin.
On the inside, there was a name written.
”Owner: Acery Phazin.
Contact if found.”
A memory flashed by; it showed a few men shouting his name, as if shouted to a friend.
Apparently, he was a part of a large ship, one of the few good fighter pilots.
The flash changed “time” and he relived the evacuation of the ship. The escape pod release system where defective, so he took a fighter, and escaped.
He was apparently the only survivor.
His flashback ended there. At least he knew he was a pilot, and that his name was indeed what was written on the bracelet.
He put it back on, and fastened it as it should be.
Lil asked for his name, as he replied “Acery Phazim… Call me Ace” with a grin.
The computer replied. ”Registration complete.. Captain Ace”
This only made his grin grow further.
He was a fighter pilot; his ship blew up due to a malfunction in the hyper space engine. And he was the only survivor.
What he got instead, was a cruiser class ship, which was too high tech for its time as his own. A severe upgrade he thought as he grinned.
“Lil, direct me to the bridge” he commanded, as a strand of lights light up in the floor, a single line, moving slowly in the direction of the bridge.
His grin still on his face, he followed it.
Around 30 minutes later, he arrived. Apparently the ship where as long as he thought, and a few enervator systems where offline, so he had to climb.
As he arrived at the bridge, his eyes grew in size, slightly tearing in the edge.
It was gorgeous, it had way more systems, and a way better level of technology then the last ship he was on, and that was considered high tech as well.
Too bad for them, he thought as his grin came back.
Ace took the main chair, the captain’s chair, located on the 2nd floor of the bridge. Yes the bridge alone was large enough to have 2 levels.
Thought not as easy as ordering people around, he had full control over the whole ship.
Suddenly, another image popped in his mind; the password to his wrist devices.
He entered it, and got them working; apparently, they where high tech computers, capable of doing very much. The first thing he did was making it so that the ship’s computer could communicate with him through it, for times when he was not onboard.
The second thing he did was getting the ships systems online.
It was not only high tech; it also had several smart things made for it. For energy, it used a reactor, which managed to get energy from a sub space area, making it have close to unlimited power.
Another thing he loved was that the ship had things that Lil named “repair cubes”
These where small 10 x 10 x 10 cm cubes, that opened in the center, allowing the cubes to sprout legs and arms, along tools if needed.
Simply put, in space, where everything was without gravity, they would do all the mechanical needs. So that it would put a lighter strain on the crew.
After some clicks on the computer, he had found a planet that was deemed “livable”.
Though, in this region of space, the computer stated that there were several planets that had not yet made it to a “high tech” level, and was still in the medieval ages, and some were around the 21st century.
He set course towards the nearest one, hoping to find what he needed, mainly supplies.
Even thought the ship had a system to make things out of nothing. There were still things he needed. Like living companions, as a ship this size, where way too large for one man.
As Lil took over the flying, Ace started roaming around the ship, but not before uploading a schematics map over it, to the wrist devices, so that he would not get lost.
Chapter 2 - Reliving lost times
Ace wandered around the ship, meeting up with several of the repair cubes, apparently awaking the ship had initiated a self check.
He stopped one, and took it off the rail they were traveling along. Opening it he looked inside, there were a lot of useful tools. As they often worked in zero gravity, they did not need strong motors on the limbs, just enough to move them around.
Some of the tools inside had stronger motors, like the screw driver system in this one.
Ace’s mind started to think a little. And he took down another random cube, and opened that one as well. He smiled, his thoughts where confirmed, they where different. One where a screwdriver, one where a hammer, the others must be different tools as well, each one have a different specialty. He closed them, and put them back on the rail, a split second later they darted away with the rest.
As Ace was walking, he talked with Lil about the specs of the ship.
Apparently, there was a reason to why the ship where hidden way. It had technology that had already cracked the borders of the time on the planet it was made, though during the course of time it had become more conventional, though it was still high up there.
Like the transporter system, it was made so that within range, anything that could be identified with the sensors would be dematerialized, and rematerialized anywhere else, sadly shields would interrupt the lock on. The whole process would take under half a second.
Ace’s mind already started making ideas of what he could do with that.
Lil continued explaining:
The ship was surprisingly maneuverable for its size, and it had strong engines. Without the hyper drive, it could do approx 70% light speed, which is around 224000 km/s (Approx 139187 mp/h)
This makes a trip from earth, to the moon in a rough second.
Though, this was nothing compared to the hyper space engine. It had 2 modes; Interstellar, which only allows the ship to travel between stars in one galaxy, and intergalactic; which allows the ship to travel greater distances and at greater speed.
As normal engines accelerate the chip into that speed, using a lot of energy, this ship simply opens a ‘window’ to hyperspace, and enters it, instantly accelerating it to beyond light speed, using less energy, and making less strain on the craft.
Ace grinned largely due to this information. He loved the tech level of the ship, as it had a ton of more features. Such as room for a few hundred fighters, as well as some smaller cruisers or cargo ships.
The weapons, where enough to instantly go through the ‘today’ shields from the time of creation, and completely destroy the ship. That was the strongest cannon off course, sadly this system was slowed down due to the capacitors of the time so a charge up time where needed.
It had plenty of weaker ones.
The shields, where strong enough to withstand multiple hits of the strongest blaster it had. So this means this ship was fucking strong, and hard as hell to destroy.
Ace simply sighed; he understood why they did not use it as they made it, as it would shift the balance of power in the world where it originally belonged.
Though he wondered how they managed to make something like this, in such a time that was ages ago. He quickly ignored it, as he again realized that it was now his.
He used a few more hours to wander around the ship; it had plenty of quarters, as well as rooms for almost anything you would ever wish.
Some large, some smaller, every one of them sized accordingly to the crew size of the ship.
He felt like taking a shower, but wondering about the water, that was somewhat old or empty.
Lil interrupted him, explaining the materializing system, so water was suddenly of no issue.
So, the shower got changed to a bath, as he plotted the course on the wrist device.
He got there a few minutes later, and entered the room. Undressed and put the clothes in a washing machine thing, they would be done in a few minutes.
He looked at his wrist devices, and wondered if they where waterproof. The decision was made not to test it out, in case they did not take it.
The left one was taken off first, and as he held it in his left hand he stepped in a puddle. His feet lost the grip of the floor, and the wrist device was sent flying through the air.
*Plopp*
It landed in the bath. Uneasy, Ace walked over and picked it up out of the water. It was fine, so it was waterproof. He smiled to himself as he took them off anyway as he soaped himself before the bath.
Sinking into the water, it immediately felt like a different world. Even though his memory was gone, he did not have any uneasy feelings about it.
He remained there for some time, before he had to get out due to the heat as he was not used to it.
If nothing else, he was clean.
As he got to the bridge again, he was informed that he was almost at the location. So he sat back down in the captain’s chair, the one with control of everything on the ship, and began scanning the planet after initiating a high orbit.
As the ship was really large, he kept to the length outside the moon, and so that he would not block the sun to the planet, as that might arouse some suspicion.
The planet seemed to be caught in the medieval time, or at least close. It did not have a name, most likely due to the database being severely in the lack of updates. Instead it had been given a serial number, according to location and whatnots.
M-32L2 was what the computer had it named. Ace sighed; he should get the computed updated as he got close to a station.
He got out of the chair, and headed for the center door. Suddenly he stopped dead in his tracks. A long line of memories flashed in front of him. His family, his friends, his history. His life.
It came back in the matter of a second, thought it seemed like reliving his whole life.
He fell to his knees, his head spinning, and his head slammed into the floor.
Coming back to reality a few minutes later, his head stopped spinning, “That explains it” he stated to himself. The last ship, he was not a part of the crew, he was a captive. As they planned to move him between cells, he managed to get loose, and retrieve his wrist devices, which he apparently had named ‘compys’, mostly due to a joke to himself.
He used them to hack the computer system, causing an energy buildup in the hyper drive. In turn as this overloaded the engines it blew as a nuclear bomb.
Ace managed to escape on the fighter he was in; just that he hit his head in the cockpit as the blast wave sent him flying.
He got to his feet. He had done some rather questionable things in his past, and the reason he was ‘jailed’ by the men in the other ship, should remain unsaid. In either case, he was free now, and he had quite the ship.
His eyes looked out the window. The planet was clearly seen.
His mind worked differently now, all of his memories where back and he was again himself.
This did not change the reason to land, thought it spurred some new reasons. Ace headed back to the computer, and started loafing through it.
It appeared that the replication system could only replicate things it had already scanned.
So, it had water, and basic food that tasted crap.
This meant that Ace would need to get hold of the things he wanted it to be able to reproduce.
He would have to get some tasty food, as well as some more ‘interesting’ items.
“Lil, make me some clothes to wear on the planet, so that I won’t look like a doof.” He commanded, and the ship computer did as it was told. Within a second, a long robe formed in front of him. It was all that was needed, as it covered the rest of his clothes.
He put it on, and let his hair be on the outside, letting it loose, so that it was no longer in a ponytail. He looked at himself, it was the closest that he had seen on pictures taken by the computers cameras of the inhabitants.
He was as ready as he could be. He only needed one more thing; money.
It appeared that gold where as good a currency as any other. So Ace made Lil transport a reasonable amount from a castle treasury with the transporter, as they would not miss it.
After fastening it in a leather pouch under his robe, he was almost good to go.
“Lil, what weapons do you have scanned?” he asked, not wanting to go unarmed to the planet, just in case. “Scanning……… No weapons found” was the answer. It all made sense.
He sighed to himself, and detailed a combat knife enough so that she could make it. This was in turn fastened on the inside of his right leg.
Ace picked a village by random, and scanned it, awaiting the best time to beam down so that the inhabitants of the village would not see his transporting.
It looked clear; it seemed that ironically enough that the safest point for entry was close to a tree in the approx center of the village.
Ace instructed Lil to send him away, and the next thing he knew, he was a rough meter away from a large tree.
Around him, where a lot of village buildings, and a statue.
He walked over to the statue, and smiled. His smile was the type where one really doesn’t know what the meaning behind it is, be it good or bad. A tad wicked, and unique.
After that, he simply turned around, and walked away towards the center of the village.
Even thought the time, there were still plenty of traders around. So he approached one and started doing business. He got some food and spices, as well as several types of drinks. He jammed it all in a leather bag as he paid more than he was asked and left back to the tree.
As he got back, a small gang of bandits, no doubt aiming for his money, stopped him en route. He simply put the bag down, and smiled. His body light up and he disappeared.
He had pushed a button on the compy, which signaled Lil to transport him back.
This should make some interesting rumors to go around.
As he got back on the bridge, he put the bag in the floor, where a horde of cubes came and emptied it, taking the different parts to the scanner.
This meant that he would be having better food from now on, and could go back to what he was really aiming for.
Ace told Lil to set a course towards The Photos system. He had some things to do there.
He stood still in thought
“Lucy., Im coming.”
Chapter 3 - Some minor technicalities.
Lil had plotted the course as asked, though on recommendation from her, Ace changed the course to the nearest space station.
Due to the fact that the universe is constantly expanding, coordinates might not be the same any more. The plotted course would take a rough few hour s in Intergalactic mode, Ace smiled slightly as he let Lil take over the piloting.
The ship turned slightly pointing its nose against its intended target, as it went through a system check on the hyper drive.
Everything checked out green, but it were recommended to have it all tuned up before using it over a prolonged time.
Almost as if space itself was ripped apart, a light glue/green smoke-like area opened in front of the ship, where it was then sucked in.
A flash later, and the ship seemed to be traveling inside a tunnel of green and blue light. Looking to his right hand, Ace saw the connections of one of the Implants he has.
The Pilot implant; The few ships that have this option makes all the controls link to his hand, that in turn is linked to the brain, allowing him to pilot with a significantly higher reaction time as well as a higher skill in general. He had a few more, but that was for another time.
“Captain, we have arrived at the coordinates” The speaker stated, waking Ace in the chair. He had apparently fallen asleep.
In front of the ship, was nothing? The space station, it was nowhere to be seen. Setting scanners to long range, it was found in the matter of seconds. It too had been drifting with the expansion of the universe.
The small difference in course was made, and he was now heading towards the station.
It was several times larger than the ship, and instead of having he slowly spinning wheel to make gravity, this one was actually a part of an asteroid, or rather built into one.
Having a large dome on one side, it had a low gravity, so one could walk there, as well as if one jumped, one would fly in a zero gravity zone.
About to request docking permission, he noted that he had yet to give the ship a name.
Pondering for a minute, he was hailed from the station.
“Unidentified ship on approach, state your name and purpose” Rang through the speaker. Apparently he did not have that much time to react.
Lil opened the channel for 2 way communication, and Ace stared. “This is the XCN-514-P requesting permission to dock” A minute went by until the man replied as expected ”Your ship is too large to allow in a dock, but you have been granted to use the outside docking station, follow the guide lights” Ace thanked him, and the channel was closed. 2 sets of lights were lit, pointing the course to the dock that he was granted access to.
Lil followed them docking the ship. Ace stretched, and made himself ready to board the station.
Waiting at the door Lil guided him to; he had mainly 2 things planned, getting the ship registered with a name and getting the navigational computer upgraded.
The door opened, and he was greeted by a robot, asking for his name and identification.
As asked, Ace stated his name, and swiped his right hand over a scanner, allowing the DNA to be read.
After this was confirmed, he continued through a set of doors, and ended up taking a railvator, which was not uncommon on space stations. It was simply a handle, mounted on a rail. In areas where one could become weightless, one could grab hold of it and it would pull you to the destination, or at least till the end of the rail.
This one ended up at the end of the hallway, in front of the door that lead to the dome. Entering it Ace headed to the nearest information desk. Ironically enough he had to follow information signs to get to the information desk, but he got there eventually.
Having enough time to think along the way, he needed a name for the ship, as XCN-514-P was hard to remember. He thought of a word in a foreign language he was thought once, and it fit the ship in some way. “Mugen”, a word for Infinity, and due to the nature of the energy supply, or how things could be created to an infinite amount onboard the ship, it made sense.
Getting the attention of the people in the desk, he asked his questions about the upgrading of the navigation computer, as well as how to get his ship registered.
Getting the computer upgraded was easy enough, simply to purchase the upgraded maps and the computer would be able to take it from there.
Being rather cheap, he got one on the spot. The registering, however, was slightly worse. He had to fill in a form, and wait for an inspection to check if the name was taken or the ship was in any illegal matters.
After a few hours, he had registered his ship, and the registration fee was higher than anticipated.
Sighing deeply, he headed back towards the ship, checking his balance on the way, which only made him sigh deeper.
Getting back onboard, as soon as he set foot back he commanded to set a course to the previously mentioned course, namely the Photos system. Though forgetting to actually do the upgrade, Lil recommended doing an upgrade first.
Holding the device in his hand, looking at it he felt sort of stupid.
Getting to the bridge, he got the thing plugged in, and after a virus scan it started upgrading itself.
Apparently there were a lot to change, as the ship had lain dormant for so many years.
A message of confirmation was displayed, along the vocal tones of Lil. Ace ordered the continuing the course now, Lil now accepted without problem as the system was now upgraded.
Sitting back in the chair with his feet on the console “Lil, this ship will not be known as XCN-514-P any further, it is now officially registered as ‘The Mugen’.”He stated, as he grinned to himself.
Lil acknowledged the change, and as the ship for distance from the station, the hyperspace window was opened, and the path for the new destination had started.
